Looking for my June 1 buddy's ?
Crazy how every program is different. I had one nurse tell me I had to pass gas too before I could leave but when the doc did rounds she said to relax because that might not happen until day 3. Sure enough, by last night things were moving.

Looking for my June 1 buddy's ?
I experienced the heaves and foaming spit up. My sleeve does not like anything with artificial sweeteners so a Popsicle did me in! Decaf iced tea has been a godsend! What else is everyone tolerating? Hiccups here too!

Thoughts on your young children visiting you in the hospital
Funny you asked this. I didn't have my kids come see me because surgery was an hour away. I'm glad I didn't. After getting home last night my daughter was flittering about trying to help. I was so nauseous with any movement around me and felt horrible for asking her to go in the other room. My youngest one is at Grandma's. I was so excited to see her tonight but she wants to stay there another night. Blessed to have help, but miss my pumpkin!

June 10th date- Day five of Liquid diet!
I cheated horribly the first week and a couple times after that. Finally I just told my husband he had to take over with meals for the family. He's not a cook but I'm proud of him for stepping up!

My surgery is TOMORROW!
So excited for you! Walk, walk, walk and don't get behind on pain meds. I was sleeved Monday and that has helped so much. So frank has been my friend as well. Had a rough afternoon and evening but today I'm doing really well. Congrats!

I got the gas/bowling ball feeing too. Walking is the only thing that helps. So sorry about the nausea.

Surgery Tomorrow June 1
You'll be going in about the time I hope to be in surgery. The thirst thing is going to bother me too. I get one small sip with a required medicine in the morning. I'll savor that I guess! Here's to being on the other side soon!

Pre-Op Procrastination!
My surgery is Monday too! I like premier protein the best. I buy it at SAMs Club. I tried EAS from target. It was ok.

Feelings pre surgery
Some minutes I'm ok and others I'm freaking out!

Pre op diet
I'm in day 3 and I jumped right in. Being able to eat unlimited non starchy veggies has saved me from throwing in the towel. I'm also taking advice and varying my drinks between sweet and broth.

Approved, frustrated, excited, nervous, etc!
After my 6 months of prep work which included many pitfalls such as a chronic respiratory infection and Achilles issues I am finally approved! Unfortunately it wasn't in time for Spring Break so I'm waiting until June since I teach and will be off. Prayerfully I won't need Achilles surgery too! So glad to have this forum to keep me going.

Pre op classes today
Awesome! Had my pre op diet class last week. Had a cardiac stress test last week and am waiting for my doc to submit cardio clearance. Then I'm off to the surgeon. Looks like our surgeries may be close together.

For those of you who don't know your date...
Hoping end of March or early April.

Gaining weight pre op
I showed a weight gain of 2 lbs with my nutritionist today at 8am and at 1:00pm a 3 lb loss at my primary doc. Obviously someone's scale isn't right!
-
EGD?
My surgeon does not require one unless you have a history of reflux or indigestion. I'm not sure about the Hpylori testing yet.

Teachers and Time Off
Hoping to have mine a few days before Spring Break and then taking off a few days after Break for a total of 2 weeks.

I have siatica can i still get surgery
I have a BMI of 49 and have spinal stenosis and Achilles tendonitis. Water therapy is awesome in an actual heated therapy pool. My PT said even sitting doing an arm bike for cardio is acceptable.

My PCP is having cold feet
My doc has never been on board with WLS until now. She knew if I didn't deal with issues from my past and heal mentally I wouldn't be successful. After intense therapy and healing I brought it up with her. She was so pleased and said if I was her sister she would now recommend the sleeve surgery. I love her and trust her honesty! Maybe your doctor has reservations based on your history. If rather discuss it than have a wedge between you.
