    Yay!!! Made it to ONEDERLAND! 199 today! down 65 pounds! UNBELIEVABLE! And this with all the Christmas candy, Cookies and goodies still stareing at me! Honestly I don't even want them... they don't even appeal to me.. but then not much does. Almost 5 months and my sleeve is still very restrictive, thank goodness...

    It's the Christmas season which means that there you are going to be surrounded by yummy, sugary, and fattening food. Nobody is sabotaging you, this is life. Let everyone else eat their wonderful food. Your job is to strategize so that you are not tempted. Think ahead before these temptations occur because they will be everywhere, even when the Christmas season is over. You are the one that got the surgery, so you are the one that has to make the big changes. I went to a get-together this afternoon and sipped on a Protein Shake while everyone was consuming their feast. I wanted to make sure that I wasn't hungry while being surrounded by food that would be tempting. When you plan ahead, there is more of a chance that you will succeed.

    Such great ideas! here are mine;
    A Case of Bottled Water, Jerky and Protein bars are always in my car cheese = Life Baby bels, string cheese, fancy cheeses (special order from the cheese store my niece works at and overnighted to me!) yes expensive but I am so worth it! Hummus and Blue Diamond Almond crisps ( crackers made from rice and almond flour) crunchy heaven. Sabra Hummus is now available in little 'to go' cups. speaking of little cups, unsweetened applesauce and other fruits. The mini cans of low sodium V8, they taste plenty salty to me now. I buy fresh fish on sale, cut it up into mini me size portions (about a 2" x 2" cube) freeze them in vacuum sealed bags (no freezer burn) when I want a quick high Protein meal, I take one out, nuke it for 30 seconds to thaw, wrap it in a slice of bacon, did I mention bacon? I always have bacon . Then pop it under the broiler, watch carefully and turn several times until the bacon is getting crispy. Plate and eat! On weekends I make a huge crockpot of whatever strikes my fancy, pot roast, chili, beef stew, homemade Soup or chicken stew. We have one or two meals from this then the rest is divided into small plastic containers and frozen. During the work week, I can throw one in my lunch box and nuke it at work. Love all the ideas, but I am going to get some shrimp and look for those crustless quiche!

    Miaoreo got a reaction from freshair in Fat is Exhaled!
    According to a new yahoo article;
    The body stores the excess Protein or carbs in a person's diet in form of fat, specifically, as triglyceride moleclues, which consist of just three kinds of atoms: carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.
    In order to "burn" fat these triglycerides must break up into building blocks, which happens in a process known as oxidation. And the chemical process of burning that fat will produce carbon dioxide and Water, Therefore 84 percent of the fat that is lost turns into carbon dioxide and leaves the body through the lungs the balance is water and, well you know how we eliminate water.
    I just found this to be interesting is all...

    Hello all!
    I know that this conversation has been had a million times, but I would really like feedback from people who are further out post op then I am!
    I was sleeved on 10/13/14—and I am doing great!
    I’m 25 and like to go out with my friends and have drinks. Birthday parties, New Years Eve, girls night in, etc. Nothing Crazy. I drink responsibly (got all of the blackout stupid behavior out of my system in college) But I’d like to plan ahead because I’m apprehensive about how what I drink will affect me—I don’t want to get sick!
    I saw the nutritionist right before thanksgiving and she said I could drink to be careful because I’ll get drunk quick. She said to avoid anything carbonated, sugary wines, sugary mixes like Pina Coladas, and also sugary juices. I stuck with Cranberry and Vodkas when I went out and I was fine—got buzzed but nothing crazy! I’d like to try something else!
    I am weary of beer but has anyone had hard cider and been okay?
    I really, really enjoy Riesling but I’m worried about volume and sugar.
    What about other hard liquors, gin, vodka, tequila whiskey, etc? What do you mix them with?
    Low sugar wine coolers?
    Also, my friends LOVE doing shots, so has anyone done shots? Do you put the shot in the glass and Water it down or take it straight?
    Does anyone have any suggestions or horror stories?
    Thanks in advance!

    Varies with the individual. I am 64 and I have loose skin under arms, between legs but most prominently, at the belly. It is gradually getting better but I expect I will never look like a 20 year old again.
    I don't care. It does me no physical harm and I am not interested in trying to convince anyone but my wife that I am desirable...and she already knows that.

    Now my refrigerator is Tiny Leftovers Land. There are so many tiny containers in there, all with food I would not have not even saved before. Who saves two tablespoons of mashed potatoes. I bought 4 potatoes last week. Well, one potato makes enough for 4 meals as a side. I still have 3 potatoes left. Next time I'll have to buy 2. I don't even have pots small enough to make one mashed potato. A can of Beans will last and last. Jeez, I'll have to freeze leftover Beans because all I need is 6 or 8 beans at a time. I made Pasta with Tomato sauce last night. One jar of sauce will last until next century.
    CAUTION! Be very careful of those leftovers! Unless you freeze them, throw them out after 4 days! Even in the fridge bad little things will GROW. And you sure don't want food poisoning or just plain stomach upset at this stage of the game, or any stage for that matter!
