What shocks you now that you were able to eat in a sitting?

Recommended Posts

I know I've been able to eat some rather large amounts of food in the past...I'll give some examples of things I could put away in one sitting before starting this process:

1) Four bowls of Cereal

2) Cook a pound of bacon and eat the whole thing

3) 3 containers of Pringles

4) 1 pint of Haagen Daz ice cream

5) 12 pieces of fish and chips with a pop and massive tartar sauce (a mean intended at the fish and chip place to feed a family)

6) 3 grilled cheese sandwiches

7) chicken Teriyaki dinner with probably 1 lb of chicken/salad/sauce and 2 cups of rice...

8) One whole cheesecake (not the cheap kind either)

Anyone have any admissions to add :)

I could never make up my mind, so I'd get a double quarter pounder AND chicken nuggets AND a large soda AND large fries, sometimes ice cream, and then some. My mouth still wants all that, lol.

I've gone to one fast food place and get a meal, then go to another place and get some fries and then top it off with a frozen yogurt.

Oh....and pizza.....6 bread sticks and a half of a large pizza by myself.

The most I've ever done (and these are separate instances): two packs of ramen noodles; half a peperroni pizza; one container of chinese white rice and the meat picked out of a mongolian beef dish, with an egg roll on the side; double whopper combo; double quarter combo; two small pieces of pie with whip cream; 10 piece hot wings and small potatoe wedges; medium buttered popcorn and a coke icee at the theatre; two sandwiches.

Each one of those meals left me stuffed to the gills.

I would never fry chicken at home, but on occasion when I was on a food binge, I would go to my favorite fast food fried chicken place, order the 10 piece, eat at least 4 to 5 peices sitting in the car, and finish most of the remainder in the next few hours. Of course all this would be followed by intense guilt and the promise to start a new diet.

Oh snap! I forgot about the fried chicken. I could smash a 3 piece, spicy, white meat from Popeyes. I could eat all 3 pieces and most of the side, and maybe one bite of the biscuit.

LMAO @@kimpossible67 with the chewed candy!

Sports bar me and friends went to...me and a buddy could polish off a 50 piece of wings in several hours with several pitchers of beer.

It doesn't sound like much, but it was-- I was drunk in college at a chinese restaurant and I ordered an order of vegetable dumplings, and order of spinach wontons, and a large vegetable fried rice. The fried rice came out, and it was a mountain of fried rice-- easily a full meal for three people. I ate all of it.

But I'm three days post-op, and I'm eating for enjoyment TODAY. Talking with my wife, I said that things I'd been having were all on the sweeter side, and I wanted something really good and savory, and we have a carton of creamy Tomato Soup, so my dinner just now was 3 oz of creamy Tomato Soup with a spoonful of cottage cheese, heated, and it was DELICIOUS. And I really enjoyed it. And now I'm full.

And that's exactly what I wanted my life to be like. I'm so satisfied with my surgery, and I haven't even started to lose the weight yet!

An entire pint of Ben & Jerry's. A mixing bowl filled with Cereal. A whole big bag of Halloween candy. Half a pound of Pasta. I'm sure I could go on, but you must get the idea. When I think of how much I used to be able to eat, I'm in awe and I'm sad. What was wrong with my stomach that I could literally keep down that much food all at once?!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
