  2. Thanks manda ill check it out!!
  3. I love my band and wouldnt have it any other way. The road is not an easy one and rather slow but like its said,"anything worth having is worth fighting for!" Please know that theres forums are fi;lled with tons of people in the same boat as you and instead of being affraid ask questions! One is affraid of the unknown and uncertain fill yourself with knowledge, research and people who have been threw it instead of thinking fears. Good Luck!!
  4. Just got into using xbox kinect to work out. Really does get the heart rate up and great for cardio. How can this be logged on my fitness pal? In terms of calories burned?
  5. im on it too Dablockzprbabii feel free to add me thanks!
  6. Congrats on taking this step into the right direction. Sending you well wishes.
  7. Yes! Avoid those foods all together. Listen to your band . These foods can cause you great complications if you throw them up on a regular basis. You can cause a slip. You can also learn to eat around your band allowing yourself to continue forcing your "stuck" foods down which wouldnt make the band as effective as it should be! The pain i get with stuck foods is VERY UNPLEASENT and not even worth eating to me. I stay away from them.
  8. Lap band in 2009 and c section in 2010. C section was by far the worst of the 2. I needed more help doing things after the csection. My insicions for the lapband didnt really hurt except for the biggest one where the port was placed.
  9. TYM4me im from western mass also north adams to be exact! @byrd i also can eat anything except for breads, soda, and any types of cakes that are 'fluffy" and dry. They make me REALLY sick so i stay away from them right now i had a fill april 19th im at 5.5ccs in a 10.cc band. i felt restriction the first 2 weeks and now im slowly loosing that feeling, i dont over eat i portion out my 1/2 c of food and eat my Protein as directed. for the last 2 weeks my daily diet has been basically protein and salad! i average about 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day sometimes less. Ive lost weight since my newest fill and am currently 10lbs from my lowest point after surgery. I also have a dialated esophogus due to over eating during my pregnancy. LONG story i moved away from ma to nyc and no dr would touch my band because they hadnt done the actual surgery. so i over ate and gained. I moved back to ma and have been seen by my dr hence the fill. For exercise i admit im not running to the gym everyday for hours on end. I put my daughter in her stroller and i walk the track 4 laps which is equal to a mile a few times a week. hoping for nicer weather so we can get out and do more and step it up. So i guess one of the few questions i have are: how many calories am i suppose to be eating a day? how many grams of protein? still only 1/2c portions of can i up to a full cup? what other foods can i enter into my diet for variation? Is eating salads really the way to go? Thanks so much and i will add you im also on my fitness pal as Dablockzprbabii as well
  10. Hi Im Angel 25 year old female from mass. Mother of a 17 month old baby girl. Banded since July 2009 after falling off the "band wagon" im looking to get back on. Any one and everyone is welcomed thank you
  11. WELCOME! and congrats. This is a great site i hope your finding all the information you guys need on here if not feel free to ask away.
  12. Im in western mass too I dont know of any curious to see the replies on this post. Sorry im of no help!
  13. Yes. The port is stitched up to ur stomach muscles as you lose more weight it becomes easier to find and feel.
  14. At the end of the day having surgery is your choice and you can decide who knows and doesnt know. I too was concerned about people " talking" about me, the band, and my sugery in case i didnt lose the weight. I solved that problem by not telling People. I only told my family and my bf at the time, the people who i KNEW would support me. Three years later although i havent lost all the weight i LOVE my band and am comfortable with talking about it. Your in no way shape or form a failure for wanting to take control of your life to live longer and healthier. Goodluck to you sunshine. Feel free to send me a message anytime.
  15. i had PCOS i was banded in 2009. i was put on metformin but due to side affects (unpleasent) ones i decided not to continue with them. I started Birth Control and that seemed to make my periods come regular. I was also told i would need medication and treatments to be able to concieve that i wouldnt be able to do it on my own. In 2009 i lost 40 pounds after having my lapband surgery and in March of 2010 i found out i was pregnant! i truly believe it was the lapband and loosing weight that helped me concieve.
  16. Ive been totally thinkin about those hcg drops and want to try it but been kinda iffy if its okay to do those types if diet with the band. Although i count calories i still eat whatever i want except for soda, cakes, and breads as they tend to get stuck. I would love to hear if anyone has tried the hcg diet and see how it has worked for them!
  17. Thank you so much found this helpful!
  18. Banded since 2009 i try to stay between 1000 and 1200 but on a bad day i go 700-800. I was told anything below 1200 your body is starving itself and you store fat instead of burning it.
  19. Thank You so much i uped my calories starting today and i also weighed my self on 5/3 and i was down 4 more pounds!
  20. How exciting my daughter was a "lapband baby" shes healthy, happy, smart, and growing. Although I cant speak about the IVF part I can tell you I was a high risk pregnancy because of my band in which I required special attention and montering of it. Your DRs will have to work close together to make sure you are getting good nutrition for yourself and your growing baby. A unfill is not uncommen but if you and your baby are growing fine then you dont have to be unfilled. Good Luck to you and enjoy your pregnancy.
  21. Welcome! i too am struggling with getting back on track after giving birth to my child and neglecting my band. Its feels so much harder the second time around, I would like to wish you luck and offer you my support and know that if it was done once it CAN be done again! Track everything you eat, make healthy choices. If you like to snack at night you should consider a snack high in Protein. My go to protein is cottage cheese and i usually find that if i do eat my protein im fulller longer. Good luck to you <3 Angel
  22. Banded in July of 2009 and i lost 40 pounds within 5 months. It felt easy and good. After giving birth to my first child and gaining 30+ pounds why does it seem like this IA HARDER THIS TIME AROUND?! Im so discouraged im eating only about 700-800 calories a day gettin almost 64 grams of protein a day and walking 1/2 cup of food are my portions. I only drink water. Is it me or does anyone else feel this way to? If you have gone threw this how have you managed to over come this?
  23. Doesnt hurt at all! Dr feels around for your port pokes you (quick) weird part for me is i can always feel the fluid when it is being taken out and being put in and the tightening. Its usually extremely FAST, they give you a bandaid but ive personally never had bleed ( but its possible) Then i get a sip of water to make sure i can swallow if i can im good to go if i cant im readjusted with fluids removed. I would get a fill over blood drawn any day!!
