Your going to be fine. It will help with your health issues. I need to lose 50 as well. It's keeping it off that's the hardest thing to do that's why we need this!

    Hi lene!
I can tell you I had my Plication on July 23,2014 with Dr Ariel Ortiz. My weight loss goal was about 65 to 50 lbs. I am doing really well. I feel good too. I kept wavering on the Plication or sleeve, when I got there he said, why didn't you call me? He was upset that I was listening to all these people that really didn't know what they were talking about instead of coming to him with my questions. We talked for a bit and after our conversation about Plication versus sleeve there is no way I would have gotten the sleeve. He couldn't stress enough the importance of stomach sparing. He is actually speaking very soon at some big world conference about the Plication surgery. After a year he said you could put a Plication patient and a sleeve patient side by side and without knowing who they were he could pick the Plication patient every time because their appearance was healthier looking. My advise to you is to stop reading so much because you start confusing yourself after a while. Everyone has an opinion. Call Dr Ortiz! Talk to him before your surgery. I read scary tells about the Plication, even his procedure on the sutures is done differently than most surgeons, he also takes into consideration the condition of the stomach tissue, if it could become compromised due to poor condition he will anchor it so there is a much less chance the sutures would come out or rupture. He is truely amazing and knows what he's doing! Trust him and listen to him. That's my advise. You are welcome to ask me all the questions you want.
    Wishing you all the best!

    Hey Mick!
How are you doing? I'm a week out today as well. So far I'm down a total of 19 lbs. Still having some gas pains and lots of tummy gurgling. I went back to work on Sunday, thinking I might have tried too soon.

Sounds like everyone is doing well! I was having the Plication but I changed my mind and decided to to just go ahead and get sleeved! My surgery is still on the 23rd. Pre op is going well, however, last night I blew it and had some stir fry... I felt terribly guilty after I came out of my coma! Lol
I have lost 9 lbs so I'm happy for that.

Hey everyone!! All of you that are having surgery this week, your in my prayers. I am on my third day of pre op diet. So far I am doing great, keeping myself extremely busy so I'm not really even thinking about it. In fact, yesterday I only had two shakes and two servings of green veggies with nothing on them. I'm counting my blessings that I have not had any headaches so far. I have been keeping myself well hydrated and I think that's been the key. I've lost 7 lbs so far.
My surgery is on the 23rd. My one problem is my Dr wants us to strengthen our lungs two weeks pre op as well and I'm not having any luck finding a spirometer. I guess I'm going to call one of my nurse friends and see if she can get me one from the hospital...
I hope everyone has a successful pre op diet day!!!

Mike you shouldn't use vapor because it still has nicotine which dehydrates your skin. Also it cause slower healing. Just google what nicotine does to ones body. No good...

Plication has been around for about 10 years. The research I have studied has been very positive. It is not practiced in the states but as I understand it is getting ready to be approved and will then be practiced here in the states. I chose the Plication because it is less invasive and safer than having part of your stomach removed. It's proven to be just as effective on weight loss with less complications than the sleeve and lap band. With 50 lbs to lose and keep off the Plication was the best recommended procedure for me by my surgeon Dr Ariel Ortiz and he is one of the best in gastric surgery, therefore, I feel perfectly as ease with my decision.

CandyPants81, I chose the Plication because the patient coordinator said that would probably be the best choice since I just needed to lose 50 lbs. the trouble I always have is keeping it off and now I have just been diagnosed with Diebetes. Like I said both sisters have bands and I'm not impressed with the outcome. I was going to do the sleeve till I talked to the coordinator. I did some reading and it seemed less invasive so I just chose that one. I'm actually still a bit on the fence about it.

    Gardnergirl2,
I am having the Plication done next month but both of my sisters have had the LapBand. The first sister has had hers for 5 years. It took her months to a year to find her "sweet spot" with her fills. Once she did she started loosing and was able to eat what she wanted in very small amounts. She has looked amazing ever since. The other sister has had hers for over a year and really never has follow orders to the T, she's been back and forth on fills ( not enough, too much) and she finally started loosing after a year and said she found her sweet spot. She was looking amazing and then after a few weeks she told us she was miserable and hated not being able to eat when other were. That's the point right?? Lol
She went and had her fill removed and her weight is back on the rise.
So my point is 22lbs is amazing!! And if you only eating a third of what you did before than that's great. IMO I think it's unhealthy from my readings to loose more than 5 lbs a month. Don't be discouraged you are doing great!
