  1. Nice to meet you Longhorn. You were lucky enough to beat me to Texas. I didn't make it here until 1981, from California. I married a guy that was originally from Fowler Colorado but raised in Duncanville, Texas. What a hoot! Hopefully we will stay in touch. Later. Bobbi
  2. I'm on day 3 - Small meal for Breakfast, AmazeRx for lunch, Lean meat & green vegetable for dinner, one more AmazeRx to top off the night. Longhorn - I see your from Texas too. I'm north of Houston, by the Huntsville Prisons. Your area is very beautiful. I just got back from Medina Lake in the Hill country a few weeks ago. Spent a week in the Thousand Trails feeding the deer. I just loved it. I also noticed that you have the same surgery date and your in my age bracket - Cool. Good luck to you! Bobbi
  3. Had my preop appointment with the nurse. Signed on all the dotted lines and I am scheduled for Nov. 1. I believe I have to see a nutritionist before surgery but don't know when. I guess I need to have someone take a before picture of me too. I am officially on my third day of my diet and I agree, It will be a long two weeks. Good luck everyone! Bobbi
  4. Hi Sherry, Great! Where is the doctor going to do it? Conroe or Journey Lite? I am on my pre-op diet this week. I went by his office yesterday to buy some more Protein drink. I now have chocolate and strawberry. I would love to talk to you some day. Good luck to you! Bobbi
  5. Wow - You give me hope. I am to be banded this November (one year behind you) I have a horrible double chin and I am ready for it to be gone. BTW - I have parrots also - Greenwing, Grey & Caique Thanks for the pictures. Bobbi
  6. Patty, You are doing just what I am. I didn't have to start my preop until Oct 18 but I decided to start it early (the 15th). I have been saying that I am in practice for the real thing. I agree on the mindset if you are a self pay person. If my insurance was to cover it I don't think I would be as serious about my choices. Not that I wouldn't be serious because it is no matter what, but it is coming out of my pocket so it means more to me. Good luck! Bobbi
  7. Got my okay from my primary and did all my lab work. I have kinda started my pre-op diet today. I really don't have to start until Thursday but I am practicing now LOL. Hi Nessa - I know you are scheduled when I am, have you started your diet yet? Getting excited and nervous at the same time. Went to my first support group last week and met some very nice ladies. I suggested starting a clothes swap thing, I hope that will take off.:kiss
  8. I am so happy for you ABC. My new birthday will be November 1. The number one thing I am terified of is nausea. Was the bracelet part of your doctors thing or did you purchase one elsewhere? Congratulations on your new life. Bobbi:nervous
  9. I am fairly new myself - Welcome and Good luck to you. :clap2:
  10. I read somewhere that we shouldn't have any caffeine for three months after the band is placed. Does this sound right? Is everyone drinking decaf??? I will miss my real coffee. Thanks, Bobbi:ranger:
  11. I have not been banded yet but November 1 it is scheduled. I am 54 years old and am not concerned about the age thing. There is a thread of over 50 people that made me feel better about that. Just keep reading a lot and try and stay away from the negative ones. If I find that someone is wineing I stop reading, I don't need that right now. I have already made my mind up and all I want to read is positive things. Most people are very happy about their band after the first couple of months, that's what I am living for today. Good luck:D, I am right behind you.

  13. I'm sooooooooo excited to see others with my Nov 1 date!! Good luck everyone. I am going to try and order the book Lap-Band for Life. Does anyone have it already? Bobbi
  14. Laurend, I am so happy to read your post. So many are negative and I need positive right now. I will be banded soon and am trying to read as much as I can. I want to feel just like you described when I'm there. Thank you!
  15. Hi Goldie, Susan & Michee, So glad to hear from all of you. I don’t feel so all alone. I have been having a hard time slowing down on the food since I set the date. I feel like I have to do it now because I won’t be able to soon. I know that’s wrong, I need to get my body ready for this. Wow Michee—you are doing great! I hope I do as well as you. Goldie, you are only a week later than I for the band. I don’t believe 48 should be considered a bad age to do this. It is not a waste of money! I am 54 and know I want to live with a greater quality of life than I have been for the past 10 years. Susan, where do you live in Houston? I use to live in Friendswood and now I am north of Conroe in Willis. Later gang, Bobbi
  16. Thanks for the soup tip. I just went to their site and ordered some samples. I will order the big containers of my favorites. Thanks again, Bobbi
  17. Got my post-op instructions and they said each (tiny) bite is to be chewed 5 to 10 minutes. How is that possible???? Has anyone got the same message from your doctor? Nessa - Congrats to you too! Did you notice we have the same BMI and weight loss to go? You'll probably lose faster than me because you are younger than I but I will give it a try. :woot: Bobbi (AKA Mom)
  18. Just made my appointment for Nov 1 - Woohoo!!!!
  19. Had my first appointment with Dr. Collier yesterday and today I set the date for November 1. Still have to go get lab work and final approval from my primary doctor (hope she goes for it with me). I guess I will go out and buy a Magic Bullet soon. I hope I'm not moving too fast but was afraid I would change my mind. I am excited but nervous too! What I'm afraid of most is not chewing enough. Hope to meet other November people here.
  20. I am new also. I have only gone to the informational meeting and my first appointment with the doctor will be this week. My insurance company will not pay either so I will be paying $14,500 out of my pocket. I believe it will pay for itself in the long run - lots of health benefits the older we get. Good luck to you!
  21. I am the Publisher for a church in Conroe (really close to you). I also sell Avon anywhere I can.
  22. My name is Bobbi and I am just investigating right now. I have been to a seminar in Conroe (TX) and want to go for it. I have an appointment with Dr. Collier October 3. My insurance will not help out so I will be a self pay if I can get the loan. I am learning a whole bunch from all of you so far. I will keep checking in every day. Thanks, Bobbi (AKA Mom of Chuy)
