  1. It is now Sunday, three days after surgery - I woke up feeling great! I think my gas is gone, can you believe that? I slept in bed all night. I did keep a heating pad on my left side where the port is and that helped the only pain I have left. The only thing is I don't think I am drinking enough water, I need to get on the ball today. I get hungry a little but just eat a little SF pudding or SF jello and the hunger goes away. I am sooooooo happy I got through it so good. I hope everyone upcoming does as well as I.
  2. Forestcat, Glad you are feeling good with no major problems. I too had my surgery on the first. I was the last one for the day and the only person that did not have a hernia repaired. What a hoot, huh? Good luck in your recovery! Bobbi
  3. You should wait at least 1 hour after a meal before drinking is because it will essentially flush all of the food through the band. This defeats the whole purpose of the band, which is to restrict your intake and make you full on less food. If you've flushed the food through your band, you're going to get hungry sooner than you should. I just got my band Thursday so I don't know the answer to your other question.
  4. Well I like parrots- my parrots talk to me. Do your pets talk to you?
  5. Hi, I have been extra sleepy today and a little more gas than yesterday. I have found that I have to have those GasX strips around me all the time. As soon as I get a gas pain (mostly in my chest) if I take a strip it goes away fast.
  6. Glad you sound like your doing well Lizzie. I thought about going to a bird show today and walk around a bit but it is clear across town (Pasadena TX) but the pickup truck ride there didn't sound all too keen. Well congratulations on your speedy recovery.
  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Damn, I just got my picture taken for my license in September. Maybe after I loose the weight I can go down there and tell them I lost mine so they will have to take a new picture. LOL
  8. I see your point now, I guess if I was keeping it a secret from most of them it would be hard. I am keeping it a secret from a lot of people but my family knows. And yes, I will be eating a little by Thanksgiving. Maybe you could just put food on your dish and move it around a little and talk a lot. Move yourself around the room a lot too and toss the food when no one is looking. I don't know your situation but you will figure it out because you know how good you will feel after you start dropping that weight.
  9. I feel the same as Nessa. Even in the past, I would always start a diet right before Halloween or Thanksgiving so I wouldn't pig out.
  10. Thank you Nessa and a speedy recovery to you too. Bobbi
  11. Everytime I look at the names it grows Good luck to everyone that are already home and Good luck to all surgeries next week.
  12. Just saw all the Nov 2 names - hope all are doing well. Elizabeth Lindata Linseyann Kristina Get lots of rest, that's what I'm doing.
  13. My surgery was yesterday, Nov 1, and went well. I am finally awake enough to do this. I didn't get home until 6:30 last night. There were three or four people before me and I was the last person. Everyone else but me had a hernia repair. I guess that's more common than I knew. I have very little pain and it is just at the port side. Very little gas which I have taken the GasX strips for, no gas in my arm. I too got a heprin shot in the belly before they took me to the operating room where I got my margarita. After it was over they put me in front of a xray machine and gave me a little cup with barium (not bad at all) told me to drink it all and we both watched it go through my new buddy (band). Went to the pharmacy on the way home and my DH went in to take care of that. The pain medicine kept me pretty sleepy last night. I haven't taken any today, don't need it. They also gave me supositories in case I get nauseated which hasn't happened yet and I don't expect it. I called the doc and set up my next appointment for Nov. 7. I had half a cup of coffee this morning and since then I have been drinking Water and chicken broth. The doctor said I can graduate to jellow, pudding, etc. tomorrow. I get to take a shower tomorrow too, that's when I will really feel like a human again. I think that covers it, if I think of anything else I will report again. Hope Elizabeth did well today and anyone else I missed. Please excuse if I forgot, my mind is still a little foggy. Bobbi
  14. Good luck Longhorn - I am at 11:00 a.m. I too will try and post tomorrow when I get home. Good luck to everyone Thursday and Friday this week!
  15. Thanks for all your prayers! I am going out today to get final stuff. I am more excited than the nervous I expected. We will see tomorrow morning how nervous I really am.
  16. Sunshine, I am originally from So Cal and I lived in Hilo for awhile. Good luck to you! Bobbi
  17. I am worried about a headache on the morning of surgery - no coffee!!!!!!!!!! I should have scheduled the surgery earlier, I could have but didn't want to get in early morning traffic. I actually have had a stomach ache all day, I guess from nerves.
  18. I feel the excitement in this room!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Hi Longhorn, I am taking off work tomorrow to calm down before the big day on Thursday. I think I'll clean my house, wash my sheets, etc. I need to go over my list and see what's missing. I know there is a flexible ice pack on there that I don't have. Do you know what that's for? I have to be at Journey Lite at 9:30 a.m. and surgery is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. I guess we'll leave the house about 8:00 a.m. What about you, are you excited?? Nervous? Sorry I didn't write sooner, I have been so busy at work trying to catch up so I could be gone a week. I am scheduled to go back to work on the 7th. I hope I'm feeling okay by then, I didn't tell many people about this surgery, they just think I'm on vacation. Later, Bobbi
  20. I too suffer from panic attacks. I went to my favorite health food store (not a GNC or VITAMIN WORLD kinda place) and asked them what they would recommend. There is a capsule (that can be opened easily and put in a drink) called HAPPY CAMPER and there was also some liquid in a small bottle with a dropper called KAVA KAVA. Actually the HAPPY CAMPER has KAVA KAVA in it. It calms you down. I haven't tried any yet but I know will want to when I go for my first fill. I would just suggest you ask your local health food store about it.
  21. I mix my Unjury with water. I especially like the chicken soup!!
  22. I'm having mine done Nov 1 and I haven't told but a few people. I don't want everyone at work asking me a bunch of questions, watching how and what I eat, etc. I just took a week vacation off and hope I'm okay enough to go back to work when I said I would. Laura, I have the same fear of my DH and the money thing too. He has been acting weird, not saying much but a couple of times he made little remarks about the money. If it works well for me he will be thrilled but if I have problems or don't loose very much it will come up when he's in one of his moods. I don't really care right now I just need to do this. He'll have to get over it. Good luck and I bet we all will do just fine since we have each other. Bobbi
  23. Thanks for the info Mandy.
  24. Hi Jennye, Nice to meet you - welcome to our home away from home. Good luck on your journey! Bobbi
  25. I called my doctors office last week to ask which band he used. I was told the Inamed Band and that it was the only one that was approved right now. That doesn't sound right because so many people are mentioning other bands. Maybe that was what the nurse was told to say if anyone asked. Does anyone know the truth about this? I guess I don't really care which one he uses because I trust and like him and his whole staff, and all the Journey Lite staff as well. Just wondering what you have heard.
