  2. HA! I guess that's it, then.
  3. I've noticed myself w/bad breath. I never used to have bad breath (or at least that I'd noticed). But, now I do! I have a brush at work, and carry mints. In Atkins I learned that if you're in Ketosis you're breath will be bad. I've wondered lately if the weight I'm losing has anything to do with that, chemically....? <shrug> It was on my list to ask my doctor Friday, but I forgot! I'm anxious to see what people say.
  4. I had to laugh at this one! My poor bf is so tired from the recent activity! I've only lost 28 pounds, but I really notice it. I'm more energetic and limber and I think before I was just too tired. Now it's fun! :-P

Reason #1 for moving to TX from VA: no more (really cold) winters. People here will go, "burrrr.....when it's around 60 degrees." I just laugh. I miss the snow, but not the ice!
  6. Actually, she was very wonderful about it. She's "normal" size, but has struggled with 10-15 pounds over time. So, she did accept that I had a problem and she offered to help with it. OTHER people were more vocal about it. "Where's the candy? Why did you put it over here? Why do I have to ask now?..." etc. My 10 year old behaves better than some of these people! LOL But, yes...she was gracious and I was very thankful.
  7. Hi there...Is anyone near Spring/Woodlands? I'm off Cypresswood in Spring, and am looking for local banders. Let me know if you're out there. :ranger:
  8. Whoo Hoo! Go Kimmie! I love the "Future Skinny Bitch" saying under your name!
  9. I was thinking this was going to be a miracle cure, but it's not working out that way. I still have to watch what I'm eating, which I at first I thought I could avoid. BUT. I was leaving the doctor's today, disappointed that I haven't lost as much as I thought I would, when it hit me: 25 pounds in a little less than 2 months. That's 1/2 what I lost in a whole year when I was on Atkins (my most successful, to-date diet.) If I can keep on with 2-3/per week, then I'm doing GREAT! And, I see a lot of you have lost weight, and we're not at restriction yet... Just hang in there! The best is yet to come! Keep up the good work, September Bandsters! Go US!!!!
  10. SkinnyMartini - I'm anxious to know if you felt any restriction w/your first fill? What size band do you have, and how many cc's were put in? I had 2 cc's put in today and feel no restriction!
  11. Hi...I was banded on 9/5 and had my first fill today. I had 2 cc's put into a VG standard band. I felt a little restriction in the office, but now nothing! I'm still losing, though...down 25 pounds from the beginning of the pre-op diet. Hope the 2 cc's helps...
  12. One of the things that was brought up when I was talking to the coworker (aka food pusher) was that it's like any other addiction. I'm trying hard not to eat those things that I have been addicted to for so long. If an alcoholic worked here, would we put out little glasses of wine? Why is candy and chocolate and doughnuts, etc. better? Most of America is overweight and eats poorly. That's probably a very strong analogy, but to me it's real enough!
  13. Thank you all for your hints! I did talk to her about it, as politely as I could. She said she had no idea, and has put it away at her desk. People can still get it, but they have to go to her to ask. yay! I also bought some sugar free candies to get me through, but really, if they're in my drawer and tucked away I don't think about it. It was all that flashy chocolate staring me down each morning that did me in! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  15. I like the buy the crappy stuff! I can do that to "help" her out. :Banane30: I wish I could toss it. She has a decorative halloween towel underneath of it, and I finally covered the bowl with it. Another coworker said, "Why are you hiding the bowl?!" I said because I can't keep looking at it all day...she understood and covered the bowl back up. I'll just keep covering it. I know it's there, but I don't have to see KitKats and Reeses glaring at me all day. Hopefully she'll see that as a good compromise.
  16. :help: What do you do when a coworker is so sweet and giving and nice and wonderful, and you just want to wring her cute little neck? She keeps filling a very large bowl of candy and placing it in our work space. Others from all over the office come and grab some, so it windles down all day long - then she fills it in the AM. But I keep staring at it and drinking my Water, eating my cottage cheese for snack and I want to just cry!! This has been going on for about a week and she said she'll do it until Halloween. UGGG! KILL ME!!! Does anyone else have this going on? :Banane30: How do you handle it? Thanks!
  17. Hi there! I'm relatively new to the site...only a month old. In my experience, the first few days were rough, after that I was fine. I'd plan for a week of r & r. After that, smooth sailing. I was worried about our state fair at the end of Sept, but I was fine, fine, fine...I even had a small ice cream cone shared a funnel cake w/my daughter. (I'm not filled yet.) Hope that helps... ?
  18. Since my surgery on Sept 5, I have had dreams about snakes. Every. Single. Night. I don't even normally remember my dreams and this is really beginning to freak me out. I'm not superstitious or anything, but really - It's kinda weird. Sometimes I am fighting them off, other times they win and bit me. But, not really about food...although I'm not sure which would be worse! lol
  19. LOL - I LOVE THAT! I think kids will say stuff like that and most are not trying to be mean. It's the ADULTS that suck. That mother was lazy for several reasons, and by the description of the kids' behavior and what he was eating, he may one day be fat, too.
  20. I've been reading this (my mini-soap opera) and I'm sorry if I'm intruding on something that's personal. I'm guilty of going OH to view the profiles of people mentioned, but have no personal experience w/Sandy. Your post about responsibility reminded me of the Declaration of Independence. This weekend my daughter and I were watching that, and in one scene Nicholas Cage reads a section and explains that it means: If there is something wrong, those who have the ability to take action have the responsibility to take action. So, long story short, I believe that this quote is true. That if you know something is illegal, and that someone may hurt someone else then you should expose that person to the proper authorities and do what's necessary to protect people without that knowledge. (People like me, who may have stumbled onto that site rather than this one and followed ill-given advice. I'd be pissed if that had happened.) IMHO
  21. - Being asked to leave a roller coaster because the restraint won't fit - Bathing suit season - Back to school night where I have to sit in the little chairs. I stand instead - Picnic bench seats that you have to climb through - Jumping, then stopping and having body parts still moving - Many enticing sexual positions I'd love to try...but that big 'ole bubble butt won't let me... - Cars that don't have tilt steering - Airplane seats, train seats, ANY public seating of any kind is too small. - Paying more money for my clothes than the same design that a size 10 pays. - Having fewer choices in clothing styles. - Job descrimination - Public toilet stalls and seats do dig at the legs! If I can manage to squeeze through the door that swings inward. - Walking up one flight of stairs and feeling my face get hot, sweaty, and red. And I'm breathing heavy, too. - Shorts ride up my crotch. - Stretch marks (which won't go away, I guess, but I won't get anymore!) - Not being able to go into the O.R. when my daughter had her tonsils out because I couldn't fit into the surgery jumpsuits that they provide for parents. - Bracelets don't fit - When I'm in a "regular" store, I go to the purses section, because that's all that will fit me. Even when friends say, "Here's an xxl...it's huge - It'll fit!" Um...No. - Buying t-shirts and sweats in the men's department. And, last, but not least: - The thought of not being alive or active enough to see my daughter's life, grandchildren, etc. I'm sure there are so many more things, but these are always on my mind.
  22. You got your thinking all backwards! Reverse it and start thinking, "What am I going to think about HIM?" I did online dating for a couple years, and I learned to say volumptous, curvy for description in my profile. But, one-on-one emails, I'd be upfront and say that I was overweight, but "working on it" ha ha...etc. I also learned to gracefully excuse myself in the middle of the date when the men who said "6'1" were math impaired and meant 5'2", or any other truths that turned out not to be. After all, being big, I was looking for a big guy. People lie and it wastes time. So, I suggest being honest, but flattering about yourself. If they back out of the date after you describe yourself (or see pics) then good...move on the guy who's interested. Because there are plenty who are! Hope this helps, and doesn't scare you! I enjoyed online dating. Also, just take your chances...live and enjoy life. This guy probably isn't THE ONE, so just have fun with it. BREATHE....IN.....OUT.
  23. It seems everytime I turn around someone is having a retirement/birthday/welcome to the company cake. If not that, then someone will go out and get Breakfast tacos. The smell is soooo good, I can't stand it! How do skinny people manage to sit and eat all day long? At 9am, they're talking about lunch! ARGH...what's a bander to do?
  24. I did that the other night w/my boyfriend and best friend at dinner. They both turned to me and said, "Are you okay???" I was, mostly. I had taken too big of a bite. I'm not filled yet, but I still need to be careful until I am.
  25. This is great - my friend emailed me again to tell me that she mentioned the exchange to her boss, and her boss sent the following email to that coworker: I would like to let you know that Anna notified me of your comments to her on her appearance. You noted a few things about her appearance like her face looks really good and that you liked what she did with it. - That is acceptable. You then noted that her hair looks good after a recent haircut and shows off her face better. - That is acceptable. The last comment to her was "you just need to lose a little weight and then you will look nicer". - That is not acceptable. Anna was sitting at the reception desk and your comments were in front of a guest waiting to meet with you. This is a sensitive issue for alot of people and should not be brought up or mentioned in the workplace.
