Frequency of fills
I was banded on 9/5, and have been filled twice. The second time it was so tight I was foaming because I couldn't even get down spit. (But, I was stupid, told the doc I was fine and left. Three hours later, I called back and had an un-fill...Lesson learned.) My concern is this: I know I can be too tight, so I'm not "leaking" Fluid, but the second fill was the 19th of November, and I had restriction for a good two weeks...And now nothing. This happened with my first fill, too. It's not really gradual, either. One day I have good restriction, and the next day *almost* nothing. It also seems to happen after/during my mentrual cycle; not sure if it's related so I thought I'd mention it in case it is. The only thing keeping me from gaining is my knowing what I should and shouldn't eat. But, to me that's a lot like the diets I was on before and I'm scared I'll "fall off the wagon" without the restriction that I've felt with the fills. I've called my doctor's office and the nurse is hesitant to keep giving me fills so quickly, and tells me to wait a while and just "follow the diet". What is the frequency of your fills? Do you feel consistent restriction, or does it loosen gradually or all of a sudden? What is the trigger for you to know you need one? Thanks all.

Did you Tell your Kids???
I told my 10 year old daughter. She's now my food police! "Mom - you can't drink from a straw!!!" I am usually very open with her, so it was a no-brainer for me to tell her. She needs to lose 30, so we're dieting together. When I stop, she stops and it's helped her to have someone there helping her, and vice versa.

My jean callous is gone!
The only pair that I can pull off w/out unzipping is hanging on my closet door, behind a pair of size 12 jeans that I want to be able to wear. I have them on the same hangar, and the size 24 jeans are so big they overhang the closet door!! - - Hm. Perhaps I should move them to the kitchen!

Damn it!
I had pcs of the blooming onion the other day for my mother's b-day dinner. Not really blech, but I didn't eat 1/2 of it like I used to. I had about 2 slices, and then ate 1/2 the fish. My friend ordered a soda the other day, and I got water. He asked if I missed it, and I looked at his and said no. And I meant it! I love my weight loss more than any food I've ever eaten...and eaten...then gone back for 3rds....and then gotten dessert, and then went home and had snacky salty food to balance out the sweet stuff...etc.

My jean callous is gone!
Ever get that rough patch on your index finger because zipping your jeans is too tough? That's gone! I can take my jeans straight from the dryer and put them on with ease. Goodbye rough patch - I don't miss you at all!

Why doesn't being "skinny" fix it all?
The only other diet I've been on that was remotely successful was the Atkins. It was working until my birthday and my mother bought me a cake. I told her not to, no candy, no cake - did she listen, no! I think she was sabatoging me because we've always been fat together. But, I also think she did it out of love. For most of my life, food made me happy and it was the only way she knew how to make me happy. We'd leave the dentist - and go to McD's for a milk shake. So, the dynamics of our relationship has to change, and I know it will take time. I've been struggling with her and my daughter. She's given up tempting me, and now feeds junk to my daughter whenever she can...Now my daughter needs to lose 30 pounds. It's a never-ending battle, but we have to hang in there. My best friend, my mother, and people at work seem to be against me. But, I am not doing this for them, and that's all that keeps me going. I'm sorry that you're going through this, and wish I could be more help. But, all I got is a "hang in there" and "it'll get better". You got good friends here, and we're not going to feed you candy...Promise.

Do You? You know use that word!
By the way, I hate "African American" too. Most of the black people I know have never even been to Africa, let alone are they from there. They're no more "African Americans" than I'm a "Greek American." I hate taking a subject off road, but to Wheetsin (whose pm box is full) - Your picture looks very familiar to me, and you're greek... Are you by any chance from the Northern VA area? Sorry to intrude if not! I'm just too curious to ignore it any more.

Spanking
I know...that's why I'm 1/2 and 1/2. Time out never worked for my daughter. I've spanked her probably twice in her life (she's 10). For the most part, taking away something she loved was the best thing, and for the really bad times, a swat worked wonders. Kind of like, "Huh?! What was that???" But, again, how do you protect kids of parents who think spanking is with a belt? or worse? Perhaps if the law disallowed anyone hitting their child with something...? I don't know. I don't have the answer. I know it's just sad when some people go to far, and then it's too late. But, then again the ones who don't care enough about their kids aren't going to care about the law that protects them. (see? half and half!!! I can't decide)

Poll - Are You Attracted To Overweight People?
I like thick men....not so much obese, but definitely someone who won't "break". I'm not sure how I'll feel when I reach goal...although, current bf is overweight by doctor standards, but very muscular and thick, with a belly and wide shoulders. I think I'll still be very attracted to that kind of build.

Spanking
I'm 1/2 and 1/2 on this...I'm reading in my newspaper about Baby Grace, found nearby to where I live. Her mother and step-father beat her with belt, then shoved her head under Water, then threw her to the tile floor before stuffing her face into the sofa pillows. Their claim? They were disciplining her. She was 2 years old. Some people are too stupid, and children are too vulnerable to assholes like that. Unfortunately, people don't know the difference between a swat on the bottom (which I have done, and feel okay about because I was in control of my emotions at the time) and outright abuse. But, who draws the line? The decent folks don't need a law....it's the jerks that do. And, I think ultimately I'm okay with a law that protects kids from people like that.

Have you had your 2nd fill?
I had my second fill yesterday - ugg! I had 2 ccs before, and yesterday he put in 1 1/2 ccs. I KNEW I shouldn't have left the office, but I did anyway. I was literally foaming at the mouth and couldn't swallow my spit. I called back, very embarassed, and asked for an unfill. He took a full cc out. Wow. What a difference!!! Now I know what too tight and just right are!

World has gone to PC
Isn't there a thread on this board making fun of newbie banders? That's not really so funny to me...but I've only skimmed it, and then I moved on. I'm a newbie and you're making fun of me. A lot of members post daily on how stupid people like me are....Would that be accepted in normal conversation if you met me face to face? I think people need to lighten up and not take things as insults. If we learned to laugh more at ourselves, the world would be much better. You can tell people not to hurt other people, but you can't make them think something isn't funny when they feel it is. I laugh when people fall down. I try hard not to because I don't want to laugh if they are really hurt...but it's a reflex and it's hard not to laugh. My high school bf HATED that about me. I also laugh at America's Funniest Video, I LOVE the Darwin awards because stupid people make my day. Laughing AT other people is the base of all good jokes. Think about that the next time your receive a "joke" email. Someone is being made fun of, whether it's religion or race or whatever. A joke told on Rants and Raves shouldn't be taken seriously. If you don't like it, then you can move on. It's not as if you're in a professional environment, or some other forum where many jokes of any kind would be inappropriate. It's a recreation forum, with a combination of different people. Not everyone is going to be happy with comments or jokes made. Just like not everyone understoon Sam Kinison, or gets Carlos Mencia. People like that cross the line and make society think about what should be taken seriously or not.

Calories at Starbucks
thanks a lot! Actually, I had my "one last frappacino" before surgery, except it wasn't really the last one. I've had one tall, fat free since. I couldnt' drink it all. I love Starbucks and that's been the best habit to kick. Both financially and health wise.

Do You? You know use that word!
Ex-Pres Clinton (I'm sure you've studied about him, right?) claimed not to have inhaled when asked about smoking pot. I know I inhaled, so if it was a crack at you it was a lighthearted one. I just didn't understand how someone can just be blah and be okay with it. I'm sorry you've had a hard day. God knows some are harder than others. But, you jumped into the rant saying some really awful things. You certainly have the right to think and do, or not think or not do, what you want. But, as one professional working woman to young girl who is striving to be one: please learn to take advice, and try hard to care more about other people. Making legislation is a high goal. If that truly is your dream, then please try harder to take other people's feelings and insights into consideration. If you do indeed make it that far, then you won't be there promoting your own agenda - you'll be there for people like us, the ones you've been slamming here.

This is insane. Do you really believe the crap you spout or are you just instigating something useless for the sake of arguing? :faint:
