Blender Recommendations
I have a vitamixer, and it is worth every penny!! Sometimes they have awesome sales on them at costco. I don't think they carry them all the time though. They are pretty pricey. My hubs bought me one a few years ago via the vitamixer website for mothers day. You can make Soup it in and it actually gets HOT!! And my smoothies with matrix Cookies and cream and skim milk and a little unsweetened cocoa powder plus ICE is a wonderful "malt". VERY decadent, more like a calorie laden dessert than a low calorie Protein shake. ummmmm....that sounds so good, I think I'm going to go make one for Breakfast right now! Good luck on your decision!! (I work for an insurance co, not for vitamixer co) lol

Feeling Frustrated!
Insurance companies just want to see that you made an attempt., and went to every single appointment. My insurance company told me that it didn't matter if I had gained or lost. I gained some months, and lost other months. Up and down, up and down. I was approved 2 days after mine was submitted. I do not have BCBS, I have UHC, but I can't imagine they are much different. Afterall...as my surgeon said, that proves that I can't do it on my own. If you want to see a loss next time you go, do a week of nothing but chicken and veges and tons of Water, or Protein shakes and tons of water, and you will lose. I did that on my last month and lost 5 pounds, which put me 1 pound lower than my starting weight. It's a game that those of us who are lucky enough to have insurance must play. Just chill and keep jumping through the hoops.

Quitting Smoking Pre-Op
I was a heavy smoker for 35 years. I decided on April 1st last year that I wanted this surgery. I read a book by Allen Carr called The easy way to stop smoking. I smoked while reading it, and once I finished the book, the instructions were to throw whatever cigs I had left into the trash and never pick up another one. It worked. I believe it may have something to do with self hypnosis, as there was quite a bit of repetition. But that along with the determination to become healthy and have a safe surgery, it was easy peasy to just walk away. Weigh your pros and cons. What do cigs Do for you? Besides kill you slowly? Nothing. I will be 1 year smoke free on April 1, and I'm damn proud!! Best of luck to you on your Quest to good health

Too easy ?
I was approved 2 days after it was submitted. Insurance companies understand now, I think, that it really is a life saver, and a cost savings for them.....down the road.

Insurance
I agree with Elode. I have friends who had GB and are doing great, feel great, got thin, and healthy. I don't believe I would hesitate if it were me, and they agreed to pay for it, but not the sleeve. I'd be first in line!!

I just want to say........
I agree! I am so happy to have found it! You know it's a great site when ALEX remembers your birthday! Or comments on a post you make! It's not just a website, it's a safe haven for many people who need the support, or want to give support. I have learned so much here. My surgery is not until the end of April, but I feel totally prepared for whats ahead for me, based on stalking this site and interacting with the folks already on the losers bench. I'll be there soon, and I hope I am able to be as helpful as the others here.I have my favorites (I'll admit it), and they bring me joy to read what they post.

New to Site-can a post be deleted? Note to self (review post before submitting).
You can edit any post you make. You can't change the title of a thread, however. Learned that lesson myself!

Drinking Sodas with sleeve?
Soda? hmmm...I was advised by my Surgeon and nutritionist that I am not to ever have soda. (or cigarettes). Those are the two no-no's. Your tummy is too small to fill it with tiny bubbles. You will get sick if you try.
