The Waiting is driving me CRAZY!
@WillieBoo It was faxed last week, Tuesday I think. I was told I should know something this week, and to call UHC Tuesday if I hadn't heard something. UHC only requires BMI over 40 (or 35 with 2 comorbids), use a Center of Excellence, and have documentation of a supervised Dr diet (no actual number of visits required), and psych clearance. I have it all. The EGD was done, no issues there. I did the 2 hour nutritionist class on the 25th of Feb. Been waiting since then. I think I'm probably only a day or two away from hearing if I am approved. But, I don't think there is any reason why I wouldn't be, based on the requirements. Anywho......gonna watch a movie or read a book or stalk the bariatricpal site to keep my mind off ME. lol Take care everyone!

The Waiting is driving me CRAZY!
The hoops are all jumped through. The package has been faxed to the insurance company, and I wait. OH I HATE TO WAIT! Almost every day at work someone (generally a boss) asks me....."got a date yet?" I know they are concerned for the business, and who's going to fill in for me while I'm off (and I will have that covered) And I think they are trying to appear interested and concerned about me too, I suppose. But the waiting is almost unbearable! ok. That's all I got. Have a great day everybody!

Psych Evaluation on Monday
Its really not a big deal at all. The psych eval is not really to find ways to tell you NO, it is more to see if you have enough support, and have a realistic understanding of what this tool is actually for. Good health. Not to fit into a bikini, or to become a supermodel.

Psych Evaluation on Monday
expect to speak with a very nice Dr who wants to make sure you want this for the right reasons, and that you have lots of support when it's all said and done. Oh, and some written tests, too. Be honest on those.

Carbonation
I haven't had carbonation since I was a kid. For some reason carbonation gives me terrible hiccups, and it takes hours for them to go away, even after just on sip of anything carbonated. Maybe it's an allergy or something. But, Lucky for me that is ONE issue I won't have to deal with. Now coffee....that's another thread! lol

How long did your hair fall out?
@@Elode Your hair probably only feels thin to you. It doesn't look thin in the photo. I've been looking at those extensions with the fishing line (so, no clips), but for the real hair it's super expensive, and there is no way to match my hair. I'm like 35% gray. I guess once I lose some weight, I might go for a more layered cut (with bangs??? not sure yet) Maybe I'll go lighter. I just think the gray root look is soooo tacky!

How long did your hair fall out?
oh Geesh! I haven't had the surgery yet, still waiting on insurance approval (hopefully I'll hear next week). I have been growing out a pixie for the past 4 years. I finally have long hair to the top of my bra in the back. (shorter around my face so it already is brittle) I have taken Biotin for 4 years every single day, along with zinc and a multi Vitamin for over 50 folks. I try to only wash it every 3 or 4 days. I try to not brush it frequently, as my hair is fine hair. I use sulfate free shampoo and let it dry naturally 1/2 the time. I have to dry and straighten it the other 1/2. REALLY don't want to go short again. @@Elode be sure to post pics if you get that wig, and share where you got it from!! I may need to invest in one, also.

GNC has it. Never seen it anywhere else

EGD?
it's really not a big deal at all. Piece of cake. Takes about a minute.

Starting out at age 45? How common?
53 on the 26th, still waiting on approval

Best decision ever
Thank you for sharing! I am still waiting for approval, but I cannot wait to be on the other side. I also intend to take off 6 weeks, even if it is just to get my mind wrapped around the eating, drinking and Vitamin taking schedule. In my job, I tend to be dragged to meeting after meeting, without concern over "did I get a break or lunch" today. One day I told my department manager I wasn't going to attend one of the meetings, because I didn't get my lunch. She said....I never get my lunch, it's one of the sacrifices you have to make to be a manager here, (my doc would not agree). So, at least I will be able to have a Protein shake or something in a case like that. But you can probably understand why I want the full 6 week.s I need to de-stress too. And Congratulations on your success. You are an inspiration!

UNITED HEALTHCARE PPO
Yes, last year it was for sure, a requirement. This is the first year it was removed from the list of requirements. The requirements now are 6 months supv diet visits with PCP, 40 BMI or 35 with co-morbids and psych clearance.

UNITED HEALTHCARE PPO
UHC no longer requires your weight history...5 years or otherwise. I know they denied a few people I know last year due to that requirement, but this year it was dropped. I assume all UHC,

Sleep studies & now the wait begins for insurance approval...
Mine was also moderate, and I did have to get a cpap machine. Now I actually sleep all night long, and wake up refreshed, where before I woke up tired. Cpap masks have come a long way, and not all of them look or feel like torture devices. lol Mine is cute and pink and I use the "belle loops" just around my ears to keep the nose mask on. I can sleep on my side or stomach and no issues. You get used to not breathing through your mouth VERY quickly. But once I have the surgery and lose the weight, I wouldn't be sad to give the dang thing back.
