  1. Syntrax Nectars seem to really be the best tasting.
  2. Syntrax Matrix in Fuzzy Navel and in Cookies & Cream!! also GENEPRO unflavored and premier Protein (Chocolate)
  3. @@Karunch Good for you! You know what you want, and you can do it! It's your decision. People are so funny, aren't they? They just think they know what's best for YOU. And that you cannot make the right decision for YOURSELF. You, my friend, are WORTH it. Take care of yourself!! That's what it's all about!
  4. Luckily my insurance ,UHC, doesn't have that requirement anymore. Check with your insurance co. The Bariatric center I am going to tried to tell me I'd be denied due to the low BMI's. But I called the insurance co and it is no longer a requirement. YAY for UHC
  5. Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story. I should be sleeved pretty soon, possibly end of Feb or first of March. I was advised by the psych to have realistic expectations, and would I be ok if I could only lose 80 pounds. I said, well, I'd be much more comfortable for sure, and more active. So, in my mind I am saying, no, I need to lose 120 pounds, but 80 is a great start. But I won't settle for 80.
  6. It should be submitted to insurance tomorrow. I met all insurance requirements as of Saturday morning with the psych. I will be calling them to make sure they submit it. It is supposed to be approved within 5 days, and surgery is generally scheduled 2 to 3 weeks after approval. So very soon.
  7. hi! This thread has gotten a little bit of attention, and I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments. My sister. oh lordy. I called my Mom yesterday to check in, make sure she's ok (she's 85 and has had some pain in her hip and won't see a doctor) Mom said she's ok, she sounded great, we talked about her day, then she said she had talked to my sister earlier who said her daughter in law has a friend who recently had this surgery and can't stop throwing up. I said "ok, Mom. This is why I didn't want to discuss it with anyone. So, from now on, no more discussion about my upcoming surgery, or my doctors and my decision to do this to improve my health and wellbeing". For crying out loud! I have a great support system with my hubs and my son, and good friends plus great work friends. AND there's the support group at the Bariatric center of excellence I go to, as well. I don't really need my sisters input. She is not a supporter, She is a negative nelly. (she is my older sister too, so it's not like she's a kid. She's 59 years old!!)
  8. I ran across this thread this morning when I did a search for "afraid I'll fail". I know my surgery is coming up pretty quickly now. Things have started to move pretty fast. The psych told me my bad habit of grazing will "ruin" any chances of success. So, I am taking some time to make those changes now. I work an odd shift, I wake at 2am I arrive at work at 4:30am, and don't eat until 5am or 6am. He completely understood why I wasn't losing weight. Waiting 4 hours after waking to eat, then having CRAP to eat (carbs) and no Protein till noon, then grazing when I get home at 3pm is the reason I gained all this weight. Now I have to change it up. I began today to make that change. I do not want to fail. I really need to succeed. I want to enjoy my life in a healthy way. Please feel free to comment on this. I need the help and support.
  9. I am almost certain the 6 months pcp supervised diet is strictly to observe whether or not you will go to appointments as scheduled. It didn't matter at all whether I lost or gained. Only that I went.
  10. Thank you @@alwaysvegas That helps me put it into a better perspective. glad I don't have any of the issues you mentioned above.
  11. I met with my psych for the first time today. He asked me some of the exact same questions. What'd I weigh in high school, what was my lowest weight, what is my highest weight, etc. He came up with me losing "realistically" 80 pounds. In my mind, I am telling myself...I am NOT having 85% of my stomach removed to only lose 80 pounds. I will lose the 120 pounds I need to lose. You see, I am optimistic, and a rule follower. I will have this new internal "tool" that will keep me compliant, and I have a terrific support system. I can do this!! You can too! We are worth it!!
  12. The psychiatrist was super nice, and was able to figure me out pretty quickly. I am middle aged, non drinker, non drug user, rule following perfectionist, who hates waiting. I was wondering if anyone knows any reason why a psych would not give clearance. I personally think I'm pretty normal.
  13. @@bobbyswife I still don't know my date But I'm pretty sure it will be in March sometime.
  14. The Allan Carr method worked for me too.
  15. I quit analogs last April in preparation for my surgery, which should be in March this year. I use an e-cig with 0% nicotine, just flavors. So, I have been nicotine FREE since 4/1/14. I have no desire for a real cigarette. I was over the nicotine addiction after about 3 days. Some folks call e-cigs adult pacifiers, and maybe they are. I like the vapor it produces. but the zero nicotine is what I use. I plan to put the ecig down for good, too, once I'm sleeved. And walk or exercise instead of using the "adult pacifier". Just my 2 cents.
  16. I use mine all the time. You won't regret spending the astronomical price for it. They are expensive, but they are worth every penny.
  17. Yup! Your surgeon will give you the instructions they want you to follow prior to surgery. There will be no guessing. They will make sure you understand the instructions.
  18. I hear it is a wonderful (although short) nap. Overwith in a snap. Will probably have a slight sore throat afterward. But since you are sedated, you will need a lift home.
  19. I will have 1 week of Protein shakes and Water or crystal lite or sugar free popsicles. It's winter, so not so interested in making popsicles. But I bought some pretty yummy Protein powder from Syntrax Nectar- The Cookies n Cream and the fuzzy Navel are super duper!
  20. the EGD (in my case)is not required for insurance approval. It is a requirement of the Bariatric COE to look around for infection, or hernias.
  21. The only way for me to keep my bosses off my back about the time I have to take off for appointments at the bariatric center was for me to tell them.
