@ it's a "wish" date. I just liked the ticker. I'll update it once I know an actual date, or maybe I'll do a weight lost ticker instead or as well.

Got my first appointment with the Bariatric Center scheduled! YAY!
I got the call today! Insurance has been verified, and my first appointment has been scheduled for January 26th!! The case manager at KC Bariatric asked me to check with my case manager with UHC Bariatric Resources to see if a supervised diet was a requirement. I told her, I'll ask, but whether it is or it isn't you have copies from my PCP of my 6 month supervised diet, along with copies from my OBGYN of my 5 years of weight history, and copies of my sleep study. She said.....well.......you were prepared, weren't you? lol Cross your fingers. I want to give this to myself for my birthday which is Feb 26th! Say some prayers!!

Question regarding smoking (quitting cigarettes)
I quit smoking a year before I planned on having the surgery. I knew I would be denied if I smoked. What did I want more? To lose weight, and be healthy, or to continue to smoke cigarettes, be fat and unhealthy or dead? I weighed the pros and cons and the cigs lost. No more of those things for this gal.

How do you take pills!
I haven't had the procedure yet, but I am a Vitamin taker. Have been all my life. I'm considering pulverizing mine in my vitamixer and stirring then into something I am allowed to eat, or drink. I guess I'll have to ask my surgeon if he's ok with me doing that.

The bariatric Center of Kansas city, Dr. Hoehn
I just enrolled in the bariatric program with my new insurance company, and submitted all my paperwork to the hospital yesterday. I met Connie. She is a sweet lady. I met the Doctors at the seminar I attended in August, and was impressed with all of them. The folks I know who have had the surgery with Dr Hoehn and Dr Hamilton have only stellar things to say about each of them. I can't wait to get this done and start living my life.

Cancelled Surgery
I felt the same way a couple years ago, I was ready, and determined to have the surgery. I had been on, and paid for every diet program known to mankind. I had lost and regained the same 100 pounds (plus more) each time. My hubs insurance excluded bariatrics, so I bit the bullet and paid for insurance at my job because they are advocates for bariatrics. I am so mad at myself for putting it off time after time. I gained at least 40 more pounds since last fall. When I took out the insurance and called my PCP and OBGYN and told them what I intended to do, the were over the moon happy that I took this step to save my life. Some of the negativity and drama on this site is enough to scare away anyone. But I am jumping in with both feet for my health. This is not about wearing sexy lingerie or a bikini again. It's about being here to watch my grandchildren grow up, and have kids, and enjoy my life and not be in pain when I make the effort to walk. The psych's and dietitians and nutritionists all have some really great ideas and advice, as well as the surgeons. Support or no support, no one will ever change my mind. I want to live and I want to feel good finally and for decades to come! I wish you all the best, but remember this tool is not for "them". It's for YOU. And don't you believe YOU are WORTH it? I think you are, and I don't even know you. Don't be hasty and make a decision you will regret. Talk to professionals about your doubts and your feelings before giving up on yourself. Sorry for ranting. I just know too many people who's lives have changed and improved after surgery, and are my support system (cheerleaders, really) They actually can't stop grinning, sharing, promoting, and supporting others. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide. Afterall, it is ultimately your decision, and you are the one who will live with the outcome. All the best. Sherrie.

How does Sleep Apnea complicate the VSG date?
no! they don't. I move alot. They did hurt for a week, but I love them now. Couldn't hurt to try them.

How does Sleep Apnea complicate the VSG date?
Gosh, I'm glad I did all that over the summer so I won't have to wait for that! Lord only knows what I still need to do. It's still a mystery.

How does Sleep Apnea complicate the VSG date?
Just try the "Bella Loops". They made all the difference. They hurt the skin around the backs of my ears for about a week, but then it was fine.

United Health Care PPO
lol you got it! So far so good. Just hope this is the slow season since folks need to meet their OOP. I saw one lady leave upset because she needed to raise $5000 before they could schedule her surgery. Luckily I'm prepared with my OOP all saved and tied with a bow. lol
