  1. I had my appointment with my OBGYN last week, and told him my intentions of pursuing bariatric surgery after the first of the year. He asked me where I planned on having it done, and had I chosen surgeon? I told him, yes, the KC Bariatric Hospital Pavilion, and Dr Hoehn. His eyes LIT UP!! He said, well, I have no issues with this at all! He said I chose the best of the best! Made me feel so much more at ease. I already had heard from patients that he was awesome, and that the facility was amazing, but to hear it from my own OBGYN!! That sealed the deal for me. Anyone else have experience with this facility and surgeon?
  2. my point exactly. Not sure what the purpose would be for this procedure in particular. I understand it is a "stand alone" preventative procedure, but not one that would be needed for this. I wouldn't think anyway.
  3. So, I had my obgyn appt earlier this week, and had him provide me with the last 5 years of weight history. It didn't start out too bad. BMI was about 33 about 5 years ago, and went up every single year after that. oh! And they have my height incorrect on my records. They have my height were it was at in my 20's. I am in my 50's and gravity has shrunk me bit in height. I have high hopes I can explain the discrepancy to the bariatric hospital and insurance co, so they understand. My PCP measured my height when i began my 6 month supervised diet 7 months ago, and I was 5'6" not 5'8". I had the OBGYN office correct this years, which has my BMI correct, but they can't go back and correct previous years. What do you think? They should understand right? I didn't shrink overnight.
  4. Awesome! Folks I work with agree with you about UHC.
  5. Merry Christmas, and the warm "jammies" are adorable!
  6. So happy to hear you are doing well! Thank you for sharing. Many of us are still in the waiting game, so hearing about your experience, and other folks' experiences really help. Happy Holidays to you!
  7. You know what that means! I now have a group number, and a member number, and a PHONE NUMBER to call to enroll in the bariatric program!! Wooot Woooot!!
  8. They should be bringing you something shortly to calm you down. ((hugs)) holler when you are able, and let us know how you're doing.
  9. Ask Santa for a Vita Mixer. It's very pricey, but it will pay for itself in no time, especially now!! I hardly used it, but I use it all the time now, and will use it a ton once I'm sleeved.
  10. Happens to the best of us!
  11. ?? no idea. Nobody that has had surgery at the center I'm going to go to has had to do a colonoscopy --Just the EGD. I'd like to not also. I do the yearly poop test. That is enough for me. No one else in the family has had any trouble, My Mom is healthy as a horse at 85.
  12. Well crap. I'm 52, an my mom's dad had colon cancer in his 70's
  13. I really hope I get to "pass" on that one. I'm ok with the EGD, but I've heard a few bad stories about colonoscopies gone bad.
  14. hmmm...how about anyone in KC with the KC Bariatric hosp? I"ve asked friends who had the surgery and they didn't either, but my OBGYN told me today that they won't do the surgery without a colonoscopy. Never heard that before.
  15. I have heard from some folks that you get a colonoscopy same day/time as the endoscopy. (2 birds with 1 stone) Any truth to that rumor? Not sure why a colonoscopy would be needed IMHO.
  16. Thanks for the honesty! Glad you felt up to writing. It means a lot to many of us out here. I hope to be joining you in a month or so! Merry Christmas!
  17. Found 2 different kinds at Sam's yesterday. Bought them both. Tried one of each and they're both pretty good!
  18. *MY Bubble....not MAY bubble. I really should proofread before submitting.
