  1. @@erose321 We are in it to WIN IT!!!
  2. @@CanyonBaby Thank you. Oh, I have done some research. I have read everything. I have read the entire internet, I think. I've read Alex's books, and all the others. I have a support group with friends from work, some veteran sleevers, some waiting for their surgery like I am. I have bought what is on my list of approved liquids for preop and post op. I'll wait to become nervous on Thursday. Today I am just a bit anxious and excited.
  3. @@proudgrammy Thanks Kathy...by the way, my name is Sherrie.
  4. Lets see...what's going on.....I'm on day 4 of my preop diet, have the runs, and Thursday is surgery day. Mostly I'm just trying to stay out of the kitchen. Not much else in my world.
  5. hi Y'all! I am 53, married to my hubs for 27 years. We live in Kansas City. I helped him raise his 2 sons (we lost his eldest in a home invasion in 2008). Our youngest (32 yrs old now) gave us 2 beautiful grand children, now 7 (girl) and 9 (boy). I work at a huge insurance company as a supervisor in their customer service call center for 15 years. 15 previous years at another huge insurance company. Planning to retire at 55...but, we'll see how I really feel about that when I'm 55. I love all animals,. but currently only have 2 yorkies and a mastiff. My surgery is in 4 days, and I can't wait to be someone to provide help, instead of the one who keeps asking questions!! Nice to be part of the IN crowd. And did I hear someone say "cookies"????
  6. @@Alex Brecher I feel very special that I was included. Thank you!!
  7. I hope it isn't taken away! I'm just going to relish in the glow if VIPness.
  8. I am right there with you. Today I could not care less about food. Diarrhea has overtaken me from all the liquids. no fun! I'm ready for the surgery, how about you?
  9. Thursday!! Today is Sunday. OMG! It has been a long, hard road with many hoops to jump through, and now, "suddenly", it's here! I am nearly there. I am nearly sleeved. I'm nearly having a difficult time with pain from a drain, and not able to drink a bottle of Water at one sitting. I'm nearly barely able to eat a tablespoon of greek yogurt at a sitting. My life is nearly changed for the better. One day soon I will be searching my closets for smaller clothes which I saved back from when I was smaller. I'm so excited to begin this journey to health and happiness, I am nearly able to polish my own toenails, to lace up my shoes. Nearly able to run up a flight of stairs and not be winded and keep up with my grand kids. It's Sunday...I'm nearly there!
  10. @@proudgrammy I know! me too! I am too cheap to pay a monthly fee, but one day...BAM! I'm a VIP! I kinda like being a VIP!
  11. This may not be easy to do if you are recently post op...but this works every time...get a small glass of Water....bend forward at the waist...and drink from the "opposite" side of the glass. I promise, it works every time.
  12. @@liannatx Thank you. Mine are large capsules. But I also have seen the smaller ones. I wonder if I should pick some up before Thursday (Sleeve day) or just plan to open the capsule and shake it up in my Protein. what do you think?
  13. OMG! thanks for the giggles this morning! I need it today...on pre-op. UGH! keep me laughing, as long as I'm close to a bathroom.
  14. I bought those months before I was even enrolled in my current health insurance, not knowing if I would even be approved for surgery or not. I hated them. I tried one, and had to throw it out. I don't think I could even swallow it by holding my nose. I may try Isopure after surgery to get a little extra Protein in, but not those protein shots ever again.
  15. Sure did! But the liquid preop diet takes care of that! don't beat yourself up!
  16. @@JeanZ_RN hi! I know this is an old thread, but I've been trying to find out how prilosec is taken after surgery. I take it before as well, and my dr said he would get me an Rx for it, so it will be even cheaper for me. But how do I take it once I have the sleeve? There's no way a pill or capsule will go down, will it? Plus I won't be able to "gulp" Water to get it down. I think this concerns me more than anything else. Thanks!
  17. I use the e-cigs that don't really "look" like cigarettes. There is a clear chamber at the top where you pour your e-liquid into it, and the rechargeable battery is screwed onto that chamber. The e-juice comes in different flavors and levels of nicotine. I just knew I wanted to be completely nicotine free, so I went that route and used the 0 nicotine from the start. I never have missed smoking, and I still blow out (what appears to be) smoke.....but it isn't. Its Water vapor that smells like melon balls!
  18. Day 4 for me...yep! water in, water out. (never trust a fart!)
  19. @@joanne keeton Oh! Great idea!!! Thank you!
  20. Vaping has saved me. I have always used 0 nicotine. and love melon ball flavor!! But, I'm a dork...so.
  21. @@carolx Welcome!! Sounds like you've got a good support system there on the farm. Best of luck to you! Let us know how it's going. I know I sort of live vicariously though others who have had the surgery, as mine is coming up Thursday morning. I'm not nervous yet, but trying to organize my life and prepare for recovery at home. I'll spend one night and come home the next day. I'm pretty lucky that the bariatric hospital is only about 10 minutes from my house!! Keep in touch!
  22. Its a good idea to give up smoking for good. I quit a year prior to my surgery because I wanted to have the least possibility of complications. And I figure if I am going to alter my insides to get healthy, why destroy it with cigarettes? Getting healthy is what this is about. I should really get off my "quit smoking" soap box and just say....WELCOME!!! we are a good group of people who just want to be here for whoever needs some advice, a pat on the back, or a kick in the pants. All the best to you on your journey to great health! Wishing you lots of luck and lots of successes!!
  23. @@Misty1975 I use the 30 calorie almond milk. I will use water with the fuzzy naval, and strawberry cream when I cannot use full liquids. (I won't use water with the cookies and cream ones. Those are so yummy I just can't put the yumminess into words!)
  24. My surgeon answered that same question when I asked him. I had a radical hyster, and a giant (benign) mass removed, so I appear to have been gutted like a fish. He said it would only take him an additional 5 minutes to cut away the adhesions. And if the belly button has had too many scopes through it, he will put it to the side. No worries, he said. I don't think adhesions are new to them.
