  1. @@Swampdoggie Oh girl! I'm sorry you are struggling with this. I hope you find something to help you get those liquids down. What about SF popsicles, broth, etc.....the stuff we had pre surgery?
  2. @@Flairness If the shots weren't mentioned to you, then don't worry about them. If you had to do them, it would not be a surprise, you'd already know about them. Sorry if I scared you.
  3. @@Stephanie Stroup McIntosh That one is (I think) the hardest to overcome. The eating to quickly thing!
  4. @@debbie813 You doing ok? Let us know once you have a sec to send a quick update!!
  5. @@Julie norton I will do my best! I'm pretty good at updates. Today I thought I was hungry....so after I finished "sipping" my premier Protein shake, to get my 30 gms of protein in, I made a 1/2 cup of Syntrax matrix mint cookie drink with silk. I drank it too. Now there is no room for anything else. I still have 1/2 a bottle of Water to finish! lol At least I can laugh about it and I'm not sick.
  6. @ hi! welcome! I was sleeved last Thursday (4/23/15) In answer to your questions above.....Does Post op hurt? Well...all surgeries hurt. It depends on your pain threshold and pain meds. My pain was occasionally at a 7 or a 6 while over night at the hospital. I was sent home with pain meds, and occasionally it has been the same, but it gets increasingly better. I don't know how your stomach can stretch. They cut away the stretchy part. (but your surgeon can answer that one for you) Don't overeat, or eat the wrong thing when you are healing. Remember, it's only stapled together. It takes a while to heal. I regret nothing. I am down 20 pounds since the preop diet, and I am looking forward to a fit and healthy life! I hope I helped some.
  7. @@Miss Mac You go girl!! Good one!
  8. @@tlemieux220 AH!! that makes sense! The throat gurgling means not to "top it off"! I'm done! Put down the fork!! lol THANK YOU!!
  9. @@Kristomoto Hang in there! You can do this! Just get past day 3, and it's smooth sailing...really. If WE could do it....YOU can do it. Remember...it's for your health. It is not to be mean, or meant to be a punishment. It is for your health, and to make sure your surgery goes well and without a hitch! Sending well wishes to you!
  10. @@bmontiville Sorry you're having troubles with the Premier Protein, that's the protein I use. I am supposed to have 30 gms of protein a day for a while longer, and that shake is 30 gms of protein, and I love ot. Sometimes I dress it up a little and sprinkle a little PB2 in it and shake it up, to make it taste more like pnut butter and chocolate shake. But, my taste buds did not change after surgery. I still like everything I liked before. Nothing really turns my stomach (yet).
  11. @ I have the throat gurgling thing too. Good to know it not unusual. I didn't figure it was too weird, since I've been doing really great since my surgery.
  12. @@Mrs.J2015 @@tagaroo Sending well wishes to you two! You'll do GREAT!!! See you on the losers bench!!
  13. I only had to go to a class with the dietitian. I also got a separate appointment with her pre op too...just in case I needed to know something, but it ended up her going through my book (binder) to see if I had everything highlighted that needed to be. But, she is there for me if I have questions later on, if I hit a stall I can't get past, etc.
  14. @@MassageMini The shots are no big deal. If you have someone at home with you, have them do it. I have the hubs do it. They don't hurt.
  15. They are now our new normal. We gurgle. It's ok. we are going to gurgle no matter what, so I learned to ignore my little gurgler.
  16. I had to stop all meds during pre op. But I didn't have to lose a certain amount of weight either, which may be the difference.
  17. I only had 1 week of liquid diet preop-and I lost 12 pounds.
  18. We went to the grocery store, I did all the laundry, I set up my "temporary" bedroom on the first floor, so I wouldn't have to climb into the tall king size bed on the 3rd floor. (super glad I decided to to this!!). I got the vacuuming and dusting done and got the little bit I'd need for an over night at the hospital the night before. Nothing was forgotten, and I was all set when I got home. I had everything I would need, as far as liquids for after surgery. Oh, and I went to the hospital pharmacy beforehand also, and got my lovenox syringes so I wouldn't forget those. (super important to not forget those!)
  19. @@ThruChristICan All the best to you on this journey to great health and long life. I had my sleeve surgery last Thursday. I never waivered. I knew what I wanted last year, I jumped through a years worth of hoops, and got what I wanted. I am recovering now at home, and have no regrets. Keep reading. The Pre-gastric sleeve forums are great, lots of questions and lots of answers and advice. Today I am 4 days post op, and I had tomato Soup with skim milk (not water) mixed in, (3 tablespoonsful) And I feel wonderfully "satisfied". I've been wondering when I would know if I was full or hungry. Today was the first time I felt it. I felt "satisfied". Satisfied enough to know it was enough, and not eat more. That is a BIG WIN!! Keep posting, asking questions, reading, and I will follow your journey!!
  20. Got sleeved last week, I am 53, already down 20 pounds from highest weight!
  21. @@kimpossible67 I am so sad to hear of your Mom's passing. As others have said, there are no words....just know you are in my thoughts and prayers for strength and peace. I'm so, so sorry for your loss.
  22. I get to add soft foods on day 7...re-fried Beans, soft egg, and cottage cheese are added to my purees.
  23. @@Courtneyxo17 calm down and breathe! My surgery was last Thursday. I can tell you what my experience was day of surgery...I woke up, got my shower with their shower soap, got to the hospital when they told me to, they bumped me up to an earlier time. I got to the room to change into a gown, they got an IV in me...I thought I'd be waiting around an hour or so.....but nope...they said, we bumped you up again. No time for nerves. right after they said that, next thing I know I am in recovery. Easy Peasy. While it is major surgery, it was the easiest surgery experience ever. They provide the very best pain meds ever, too. You can do this. just walk into that hospital with confidence, and optimism and you will do just fine. The only pain I had was where the drain was. Once that was removed, it was all uphill! (I walked within an hour of being moved to my room, too!) Best wishes to you for a speedy recovery!
