  1. That paypal thing has me cracking up. lol
  2. I had the same doctors! But I was at St Bernardines in San Bernardino. I have no complaints.
  3. I got everything chewable or small tablets that I'll crush up and add to 1oz of my protein shake about 4 times a day.
  4. My surgeon told me to start taking prilosec a week pre-op and I'm still taking it 6 days post op. not sure if I have to take it for life... but I have zero heartburn.
  5. I had to stop watching tv. The food commercials were making me crazy.
  6. That happened to me post op in the hospital but now I'm home and it appears to have resolved itself. Not sure why it happened. I also had some really gross sinus things going on at the hospital. lol
  7. There are an awful lot of lapband folks that are now having it revised to bypass, for a variety of reasons. I take that in two ways ... You could always start with lapband and if it doesn't work, get bypass. Or just do it all in one sweep and bypass. Thats what I did.
  8. You could try modestneeds.com they do all sorts of grants
  9. Congratulations!!! 100 pounds in 8 months is amazing and you look so healthy- it doesn't look like any of your hair fell out! You look younger, too. I'm impressed.
  10. Thats amazing, Shannon! I know if I just keep following Dr orders, the weight will come off.
  11. Caseyann, i hope I can be like you! I'm 5 days post op and still hurting pretty badly. But thats my only complaint really, so I'm lucky.
  12. My surgeon prescribed Temazepam for the night before, to calm my nerves. I was a wreck for 3 weeks beforehand...lol
  13. Congratulations!! I had mine 5 days ago. I thought the day would never arrive.
  14. This surgery has been around since the 1960's. they've perfected it now! Think how scary it was, even 30 years ago. The best thing you can do right now in preparation, to have confidence in the outcome is hydrate yourself and walk for good circulation. That said, I was scared too. I even cried a little on the day of surgery (6 days ago). I was so scared. But i think we need to be slightly fearful so we will be compliant with Dr orders. You'll do great! Now go love that baby...:-)
  15. I just had surgery March 25. I hurt badly and haven't really lost weight yet. Right now I'm just concentrating on healing from this major surgery, and getting my fluids and protein. I'm on vacation
  16. I'm in Highland near San Bernardino. I'd LOVE to have a local buddy!
  17. Blend soups and sip them... I've found that to help.
  18. I'd say revisit the post op diet for a day or two and really concentrate on nutrition after that. I'm glad the ice cream didn't make you sick- don't give up on yourself!
  19. I had Surgery March 25th. I'm 38,will be 39 next month. I wanted to do this now so I can be thin at 40. My highest weight was 250#. Currently at 233#. I suspect I'm still holding on to some post surgery fluid. I'm excited about this journey. I'll be glad when my incisions stop hurting.
  20. I would call this more of a "readiness" eval...it wasn't a psych eval. I think they just want to see if you have realistic expectations, and that you're willing to do your part.
  21. I'm not sure where to start or how this works, so I'll jump in... I had my gastric bypass 5 days ago. Stayed in hospital for 3 full days. No complications or drain. I'm allergic to codeine so I'm doing this with tylenol. Still on full liquids. I'm being super careful and just doing blended soups and watery protein shakes. Sometimes i can take 3 or 4 TBSP- usually just 2. I'm looking forward to getting these staples out. Walking is extremely painful but the therapeutic pillow helps some. I'm a little jealous of my family when they get "real" food, but there's no way I'm cheating on this- I waited way too long to get my surgery approved. Anyway, probably the most boring intro ever. I don't really have anything exciting to report.
  22. Ooh I want to know too!
  23. I had surgery 6 days ago- and I've had a migraine every day since... The only thing that helps is Imotrex. Make sure you're not constipated because that can cause headaches in itself. Also could be that you're more sensitive to weather patterns now.
  24. I had surgery 6 days ago and I feel really ugly. My skin is so dry... i'm still in lots of pain and in bed a lot. I hope things get better when I'm more mobile. Your picture looks great :-)
