I'm doing well. I've lost 13kgs, which is a bit slow for my liking, but that's why I never lost weight in the past; I would get so impatient and give up because I wasn't where I wanted to be within a month of starting a diet!
I can eat most things, just not a lot of it. bread doesn't sit well with me, but I have times where I crave a sandwich. I used to be a carb hound, and still battle the demons. I have the sandwich, but just don't get the emotional hit I used to with it. That's a good thing, I just need to fight that feeling 'I need bread' feeling!
I don't regret the decision for a minute, it's just learning to live with a stomach the size of a banana that is the issue at the moment. I have no doubts that this time next year, all will be good.

I've got the slow weight loss too. I've lost 8kgs in three weeks....sooooo slow, but I refuse to get annoyed. It simply MUST start moving soon! I am eating so much less than what I was.
I thought the numbers were on a downward spiral again a few days ago....but nope.
I feel better, that's one plus.

Put your pillow across your tummy and lean forward when you cough. It helps take the pressure off your abdomen and helps decrease any pain.

I was sleeved on 20th May. Started at 117kg (258 pounds) and am now 111 kg's (244 pounds).
I've had a bit of a stall this week in the weight loss, which is very frustrating, however, I have lost this morning, so hopefully the scales are on a down ward spiral again.
I have moved from 'nourishing liquids' to puréed foods as of today. I feel great, if not a little tired. I do get hungry, but have learnt the hard way how much I can eat before my sleeve is full!
The hardest part for me is the fact that I can't keep on eating past a few mouthfuls. I had developed the bad habit of eating for the sake of eating ( hence me being so over weight). The sleeve MAKES us stop, but my head is screaming at me to keep on eating, especially when I am enjoying whatever it is I am eating. It's all part of the psychological changes that I ( we) must deal with.
So far, I have been very lucky and have no complaints.

Haha.....I did that with a piece of Apple and it was good!
How long to go before you can chew?
I've been on ever decreasing Mushie foods for a few days. Supposed to be on puréed for two weeks but am over the sloppy texture. I figure if I take it slow and listen to my new tummy, no harm can be done. Plus I feel a lot more satiated.

My drip fell out three times, so have big bruises where they tried to resight it each time. I also have bruising on my wrist and going up in to my palm from a catheter they put in whilst under anaesthetic, one on my chest from god knows what, multiple little bruises all over my tummy from the heparin injections plus the bruising from the wounds!
Like you, I look like I've been through a war.
I also had a blood nose when I woke up in the recovery room.
They are all turning a lovely green colour at the moment.

Yup, I used to get that 'stuck in my throat' sensation, you just need to eat slower maybe and smaller spoonfuls. I still sometimes struggle with that but it's getting a bit easier:)

Best thing I ever did was stop taking so much pain medication and just moved more. Within 24 hours I was like a different person.
All I took between day 3 post op and today (day 5 post op) is pandadol every 4 hours. Worked a treat.

I am day 5 out, and if there I sine thing I have learnt, is LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!!!
Drink small amounts of whatever sits well with you at whatever temperature feels good.
Don't try and eat, even if they say you should, if you don't feel like it. You will just make yourself sick.
Take it slow. Move as much as you feel comfy doing, and drink whatever stays down in whatever quantity!!

Thank you so much for your very open and honest post. I get a lot of reassurance from people who post the negatives, yet still say they have no regrets. My op is tomorrow, and I'm scared that the mental side is going to be my failure.....posts like yours make me feel that it's normal to think twice, however, with commitment and focus, it all works out in the end.
Thanks heaps and good luck in your continued journey

    What I won't miss?
Like you, wearing black. My partner once told a friend that my favourite colour was black. That's only because that's all I wear! I HATE black and can't wait to wear bright yellow
My thighs rubbing together when I wear a dress or skirt. Hence I haven't worn either in 10 years. When I lose the weight, I am chucking out all my trousers and am buying a wardrobe of lovely feminine dresses and skirts.
Sweating and feeling hot all the time and blaming it on hormones.
Seeing my reflection in a window and thinking how ugly I am
    Fearing intimacy.
    The self loathing
Not being able to cross my legs
I definitely won't miss not being able to walk along a beach comfortably without thinking everybody is looking at me and wondering what the heck somebody 'that size' is doing at the beach.
I won't miss being the biggest person at work.
I won't miss fearing my next blood test wondering if I now have diabetes.
I won't miss waking up and being grumpy.
I AM looking forward to loving me, and learning to appreciate what I had in my early 20's.....the fact that I may never be skinny, but at least I will be healthy, happy and confident.
    Bring on 20th May!
