Any May 20th surgeries out there?

I'm doing well. I've lost 13kgs, which is a bit slow for my liking, but that's why I never lost weight in the past; I would get so impatient and give up because I wasn't where I wanted to be within a month of starting a diet! I can eat most things, just not a lot of it. Bread doesn't sit well with me, but I have times where I crave a sandwich. I used to be a carb hound, and still battle the demons. I have the sandwich, but just don't get the emotional hit I used to with it. That's a good thing, I just need to fight that feeling 'I need bread' feeling! I don't regret the decision for a minute, it's just learning to live with a stomach the size of a banana that is the issue at the moment. I have no doubts that this time next year, all will be good.

Hi samperth! How are things going with your weight loss so far out?

    Snack ideas

I everybody, I was sleeved on 20th may. So far so good! No problems to speak of, and am losing weight slowly but surely. I am after snack/ quick lunch ideas. I work full time, and many a time eat on the road, or quickly between meetings ( and that's another topic for another day!) So far I've had lots of tuna, yoghurt, left overs from the night before, that sort of thing...but I'm getting bored. I read other ideas on here, but it's mainly from people in the USA, and half the time have no idea what they are talking about ( what's gumbo?) I look forward to all your brilliant ideas! God knows, my imagination sucks when it comes to food!

  9. Yep, can relate! I want that piece of pizza, but I'm buggered if it will fit in! Just take things easy and your recovery will continue to go well. I'm doing well.. I have lost 10kgs not to bad in 5 weeks, considering the stupid stall I had. It gets easier, and I'm learning what, when and how much to eat. food is becoming not so much of a focus anymore. I put on a jacket this morning as I am desperate for something warm to wear to the footy. All my jackets were way too small. I was gobsmacked when it actually fit! No tightness in the arms, or across the back, and I could even do up the buttons. It's one of those 'NSV's' that I read about all the time, and it feels good!
  10. Well done! I'm so glad it's working out for you. I look forward to hear you progress. Stay warm, it's a bit chilly in perth

    Snack ideas

Thanks guys. I like the idea of quiches, but want to steer clear of the pastry. I have found a recipe that doesn't use pastry, so will try that. I don't want to eat cheese.....I'm a cheese nut and could easily overdose. I haven't been eating fruit, but will try today and see how I go. Pinterest and YouTube! What a great idea....will get back to this thread if I find something. Although I'm 5 weeks out today, I find I can eat reasonable amounts, and really have to listen to my sleeve and identify when I've had enough. I'm tending to snack too much, ( on things that aren't always good choices) especially in the evenings, which is an issue I had pre sleeve. As I have read regularly on here, half the battle is the psychological addiction to food.... Thanks for the replies!
  12. Put your pillow across your tummy and lean forward when you cough. It helps take the pressure off your abdomen and helps decrease any pain.
  13. I've lost 8kgs. Starting weight was 118kg Make lots of soup and freeze it......it's handy! What hospital are you going to?
  14. I wore Tracky dax for a week, and the put my jeans on to find they weren't tight at all! Pain medication consisted of soluble panadol for a couple of days, but that was it. I needed maxalon to stop the nausea for a couple of days as well. I'm going well this week. Still on puréed as I find 'normal' food still gets a bit stuck...biput it's only been 4 weeks. The scales have come to a screaming halt. Most frustrating. It's normally around now I give up on a diet and have a pig out....but I can't! Fingers crossed they start moving soon. What date is your op?
  15. Hi Krystal I took knitting, a book, some magazines and my iPad. I didn't use ant of the cause I was too tired, sick and couldn't focus on anything! I watched tellie, slept, walked and talked to the other lady in my room. I was in hospital for a total of three days. One thing I wish I had taken was some PJs that I could wear with the IV. Those hospital gowns just didn't do it for me. However, finding pjs that open at the shoulder isn't exactly easy. Plus, if you get a nurse to help with the dressing part, they can disconnect your IV so you can put your own clothes on. My problem was, the nursing care wasn't that crash hot, and asking them to do anything took some time, because they were so busy. It was easier to just wear the hospital gown :/

Well done cherry tree. I've lost 18 pounds (8kgs) and my scales haven't moved in nearly 2 weeks! I'm so over it....it's very deflating. I can pretty much eat anything, as long as it's soft enough. I do get hungry, but find I get full after about half a cup of food. Fingers crossed the scales start moving soon. They simply have to!
  17. I've got the slow weight loss too. I've lost 8kgs in three weeks....sooooo slow, but I refuse to get annoyed. It simply MUST start moving soon! I am eating so much less than what I was. I thought the numbers were on a downward spiral again a few days ago....but nope. I feel better, that's one plus.
  18. Haha.....been there done that! Once I clicked the 'submit' button on the bpay, I thought 'no going back now'! Best $5000ish you will ever spend

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Makes perfect sense! It's totally weird to be hungry, then only able to eat 1/4 cup of food......it's like 'hello, I was enjoying that and I don't want to stop!" How are you feeling Ozi?
  20. My anaesthetist cos $600. Can't remember his name....Geoff somebody or other. His surname started with a 'B'. I really need to go back to work to get the brain cells working again! I'm happy to keep in touch. Would be great to maybe one day even meet up. My email is denisepauline@hotmail.com or we can catch up on here.

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Haha.....I did that with a piece of Apple and it was good! How long to go before you can chew? I've been on ever decreasing Mushie foods for a few days. Supposed to be on puréed for two weeks but am over the sloppy texture. I figure if I take it slow and listen to my new tummy, no harm can be done. Plus I feel a lot more satiated.
  22. Yep, I work full time. Back to work tomorrow for me. I put in nearly a kilo this morning from yesterday. Go figure! I think I might need to force myself to do weekly weighs......this is doing my head in! How can you eat next to nothing ( under 800 calories) and not lose weight??? The initial consult with the dietician is pretty straight forward. She will tell you what to expect and what to aim for. Are you going to try and change your follow up appt with Padovan?

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Oh no Ozi......that's not good! I've been on puréed for a couple of days, and not having any problems at all ( unless the food isn't puréed enough, then I feel sick). Have some carbs...soft pasta or well mashed potato etc. it may help with the weakness. It made a difference for me. You've lost a stack of weight. I've only lost 7 kg's. Maybe your losing too fast and it's making you feel tired/ weak? Best of luck x
  24. I'd like to lose around 40kgs, but Padovan estimated I'd lose between 30 and 35. Not sure where he got that number from. Maybe it's an average weight loss for people who have had VSG around my weight? He will give you a number when you see him. Your follow up is very close to your op date! I would be ringing to change it. It makes no sense as you will be seeing him in hospital on a daily basis. It should be the following Thursday. I got protein powder from the dietician. Horrible stuff. You can't taste it but it doesn't mix well with anything except shakes. You end up with big clumps of glug in your food I'd like my taste buds to change to the point where they only like shakes and Soup...then I would lose a stack of weight! But alas.....the body wants to chew, and I can't ignore it!
  25. I can pretty much eat anything, as long as it is nice and puréed up or I chew it so much it's moosh before I swollow! By 8 weeks you will be fine. You will need to ensure you take it slow and chew chew chew. I lost a fair bit in the first week...about 5kgs I think. I then had a stall for about a week, which was a bit scarey. I thought I was doing something wrong, but on reading this forum and speaking to a couple of other ladies, I was reassured that it was perfectly normal. I have lost a total of 7 kg's in 17 days. The scales started moving again a couple of days ago. I'm happy with the loss. My clothes are much more comfortable and I feel great! I make sure I eat as much Protein as I can, and have even had a piece of toast with cheese on it. Was delish after so much soft food. Yoghurt, shakes, Soups etc all go down well, but it gets to a point where you just want something with a bit of crunch. No regrets yet! I do get hungry, but it's not the 'I need to eat anything that isn't nailed down' feeling. It can generally be satiated with a drink or a couple of mouthfuls of protein. My partner bought a bag of hot chips at the servo yesterday. Normally I would of been drooling and pinching them, but they smelled so disgusting they made me feel physically yuck!
