New to lap band...,concerned...
My team told me that the pain should improve a little each day, and if it got worse to call them. I personally did not have much pain and definitely felt pretty good by one week out. Good luck. Call your doctor if you need to. That's what they are there for.

What is the weight loss like post op?
All over the map. Many people temporarily gain which is normal. If you stick to the eating plan from your team it will come off.

Why have I been told to have my first fill at 5 weeks when I know people who have had it at 3?
I had my first fill at six weeks during which I was on full liquids. Next fill was about two months later. Then monthly.

If food gets stuck...
Stop. Chewing. Immediately. That is all.

Your response to: "but you aren't 'THAT' big!"
"Oh, I'm not? How big am I?" Just kidding. Nobody ever told me that. But then again I only told five people. A few more later but selectively.

Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
I joined the century club this morning. 100 pounds lost as of today. Two pounds away from Onederland. I'm so happy and humbled to be here today. And I won't lie, kinda weepy. Love you all, my crazy banders!

Vasovagal Syncope ( Fainting ) episode
Just found this thread. I'm very interested in this for two reasons. First is my daughter, who is not banded or obese but is six feet tall and nineteen years old, has had occasional fainting spells. She's been checked out and diagnosed with Neurocardiogenic Syncope. Her fainting often occurred after sleeping too long and not eating breakfast and then going to church and kneeling. (3 times under those conditions.) Cardiologist said her BP tends to run low and plummets, so she needs to maintain good sodium levels (Gatorade) and not oversleep which causes dehydration. Her other fainting spells were at home after waking from a long teenage sleep and then walking downstairs to the bathroom. I have heard anecdotally that this is more common in very tall girls. Blood going down to feet with gravity as mentioned above. Coincidentally, catfish, she noticed no incidents during allergy season while she was on Claritin. Claritin raises blood pressure. Knowing that, she sometimes takes Claritin to keep symptoms at bay. Second reason this interests me is that I had several weeks of dizziness this summer. I attributed it to recent weight loss and not adjusting my high BP meds. I would get very dizzy but not pass out after exiting my car and going into a store to shop. I was always holding a cart and never got so bad to sit down or see white or anything. But real sudden and just dizzy. I then stopped taking my second BP med each day and over time this dizziness stopped. I had almost forgotten about it until I read this thread. My BP is normal with one instead of two BP meds now. I'm eager to ditch the second med but my BP goes up again without it, at least for now. Anyway, I hope you're getting relief and feeling good now. Thanks to everyone for all the info.

Starting 5:2 and no scale this week
I didn't know what carb cycling was so I googled it. Sounds interesting.

Losing patience, where did it go?
The lower my caloric intake, the lower my threshold for a$5#o/3$. And on top of that I was crabby and had no patience. I realized this pretty early. I am now feeling feelings instead of eating them. And boy do I have feelings. I'm in OA and CODA. It helps immensely.

Recovery time?
That seems like a fast pre op protocol. I had my first appointment with my surgeon in September and had my surgery in March. Lots of hoops to jump through. Good luck though. I went back to work four days after surgery.

Yummy now--No Way before WLS
What do you really like now that shocks you, because before WLS it was NOT a food you liked or ate unless you had to for a diet? Mine: Celery Vinaigrette instead of creamy ranch Soup and salad on a menu instead of a burger Hummus Drinking Water

Restriction.... WOW
Well it's a process. One thing I notice from that menu is little protein besides the peanut butter. Lots of carbs and sugars. Can you try starting with solid protein and try not to have carbs except for maybe some veggies? Solid protein holds me longer and satisfies me faster. I tend to not eat so much at the meal and trigger that upchuck you had. Some examples are cheese sticks , almonds, Buddig lunch meat, etc. good luck!

Need some experienced weight losers
Try to change and maintain one habit change per week. Give up soda. Then add walking around the block once a day. Then add putting your fork down between bites. You get the idea. Treat this as a project. You'll make lifestyle changes now that you'll need later anyway. First thing I had to do as required by the psychologist was give up tv eating. I also find Overeaters Anonymous helps me process the feelings.

Slime
For me popcorn is a slider. I was treating myself weekly and it was slowing my weight loss. So I had to give it up. I will admit I was eating a lot at one sitting.
