  1. I need a pep talk. I'm hungry and drinking water instead of eating because I'm done eating for the day. But the pep talk is for my mixed blessing NSV today. I went to Goodwill to try on clothes because I really have only a handful of items in my closet that fit right now. I had no luck today finding blouses, but I found a nice pair of jeans which I need. The bad part is I looked down and saw my thighs are now very wrinkled right above the knees. This just happened this week. I've lost a lot of weight and I am happy happy happy but the shock of seeing those thighs wrinkled so far down on my legs just made me gasp. My upper thighs have been saggy baggy for about a month. Most of you know I'm going through the early stages of a divorce. My anniversary is coming up and I'm emotionally a mess. I'm happy for my weight loss and very motivated right now but the jumble of feelings sometimes just knocks me flat. When I don't eat the feelings like I used to it can be almost unbearable. I'm going out to an OA meeting now. I need to get out of the house and reset my brain. Thanks for being here. This place is where I know somebody understands.
  2. You can feel the port near your skin by touching your stomach. You can't feel the band at all.
  3. Omg I'm frickin starving today !!! I'll make it okay but sheesh. I should have had more protein at lunch. I had a deli salad and a cup of soup. I've had that before but today it's just not holding me. Grrr. Drink my water, drink my water. I am getting to Onederland by mid October no matter what!!
  4. 204.2 09/28/2014. I met my weight goal and my personal goal this month. I fed my soul. I never did get on that bike though. Next month!
  5. Just go back and reread the success in that post. And think about the last time you traveled for work pre surgery and what you ate. Congratulations on your commitment to a new life!
  6. I hear ya on the Halloween costume. In all previous years, I had one criteria for a costume. Did it fit? If it did, that was my costume. It was always some kind of black robe. This year, a friend of mine invited me out for Halloween. I accepted. She said, don't forget you need a costume! I panicked. I don't have anything!! So go get something, she said. So now I am on a hunt for a costume. This year, I have more choices available to me. We shall see…
  7. No I posted this here on purpose. All discussion is welcome, and I have a big curiosity about what other WLS patients eat. I just assumed that sleevers and RNY patients also kept track of calories, but maybe that's not true. At any rate I'm still in weight-loss stage, so I am tracking because I was advised by my surgeon to keep my calories to a certain number. And most of the time, I do check MyFitnessPal before I eat something. But sometimes, I think something is going to be "healthy", only to find out later that it had more calories than a Whopper!
  8. I'm not single but my curiosity got the better of me. It's funny how we can so clearly believe this message when it pertains to other people, but so hard to apply it to ourselves. Thanks for posting this. It does make some good points. And I also second what Kindle said. There's nothing second best about being single and happy. Too many of us have clung to relationships beyond the time they should have ended. We are enough. I liked the message from the article that unless both parties are excited to be with the other then the match is not going to succeed. That to me flows directly into the idea of, if you're not excited about being with the other person, ok then. And so what? Don't be with them. We don't always need to be searching for a mate to be happy.
  9. @@vincereautmori, "like it was my last meal" .... Omg I can relate. Lol.
  10. Two pounds down this morning and feeling great. Onederland is four pounds away!
  11. Welcome. Each day gets a little more comfortable. Congratulations !!!
  12. Don't give up. I just read your blog post. You are 20 pounds better off than you were a year ago. Your tool is still there and it's waiting to be used. Don't give up on yourself !! We are all still here and working this every day. You can succeed. Believe in yourself!
  13. I'm not sure but I think I'm now in the green. I've had four fills and I'm 7.5 in my 14cc band. My appointment in October will not be a fill.
  14. It should. If it gets worse call your doctor. But every day should be a bit better.
  15. I wish I had not relied on fast food so much. I've been better this past month in stocking up and actually eating my own food on work lunch breaks instead of trying to find healthy choices at the local fast food places. Here's what I did recently that is helping me. Stock up the fridge with small portion things that are EASY to eat on the go. cheese sticks. Veggies like baby carrots and celery. Green Beans. Keep in mind some Banders can't tolerate those but I can. Hummus is my favorite thing lately. Lots of flavors. I stock my work desk with Quest coconut cashew bars. I eat raw almonds and raw pecans. Count the nuts out. 24 almonds is one serving and it's 240 calories. But there are days when that is most of my lunch if I can't get out of the office. I still use the U njury Protein drink some mornings for a fast and healthy Breakfast. I also bought U njury packets in single serving packets for my desk at work and I have put them in a Water bottle half filled and shaken them up for an emergency lunch. My basic advice is try to stay with whole foods that are not fried or fast food. It isn't easy to go to fast food places and stay with the grilled choices all the time. Best to stay away until food habits are established. You'll do this!!! When you start seeing your body change and your health improve you will get so fired up it will become much easier. The day I was able to take the stairs without huffing and puffing was a beautiful day. And it was only about thirty pounds down.
  16. Julie I am almost never in the grocery store anymore. I used to go once or twice a day. Once at lunch and once after work. Crazy.
  17. What food or drink shocked the &?$! out of you when you looked it up, and how many calories did it have? And did you look it up before or after you ate it? I'll start. Cobb salad Buona Beef. 953 (I left their dressing off and had Cobb salad no dressing Buona Beef 533 plus Ranch dressing 130 calories = 663. ) I looked it up after I ate it. That was lunch. I try to stay at 1000 calories a DAY. *eyeroll*
  18. Just follow directions and it will suddenly start coming off. Don't worry. Most of us lose, then slightly gain post op, then slowly lose for a few weeks. Keep up your food plan and exercise regimen and you will start to see amazing results. Look at my ticker. I lost 50 pounds before my first fill. It wasn't easy without restriction but it helped me build the hard, hard discipline the band requires. Now that I have had four fills, I think I'm in the green. It's so much easier. But if I didn't follow the rules and stay on course in the early months, I don't believe I'd be 95 pounds down at six months. Good luck!
