  1. Just keep on moving... Best of luck to ya!
  2. Congrats!! I hope to join you soon!
  3. How's it going? I'm doing well. I stay at one spot for a couple weeks then lose 10 lbs quickly. I'm still working on being under 200 by my 28th birthday on May 23rd. I hope everyone is doing great!
  4. The first week can be difficult. My daughter was 10 months old when I got banded. My hubby stayed home with me for 3 weekdays and the weekend. By Monday I was back at school but still unable to lift my daughter. I would plan on having someone there for 3-4 days at least and plan on not being able to pick up your kids for at least 2 wks. Best of luck to ya!
  5. I'm in the same boat. I've always had a bit of depression, but after my daughter was born in 2004, it really set in. I've been on Lexapro (which I wouldn't recommend because it stops working) and I'm currently on Zoloft. I'm not sure what I am going to do. I seriously think I am at a point where the Zoloft is not working good enough, but I am not sure. I don't want to raise my dosage, but at the same time I am almost miserable and I'm making my hubby the same way. I'm trying to work through some of my issues w/o raising my dosage though. I have so much stuff coming at me from several different directions that I feel like my world is spinning at times. Best of luck to everyone! Hopefully we can all find the answer together.
  6. I think you should find a different support group. True Lap Band isn't right for everyone, but neither is RNY. You need support, not someone making a decision for you! Best of luck to ya!
  7. It all depends on swelling and healing. If you have pain I would definately lay off the mushies. Your tummy needs time to heal and the band needs time to rest in the right spot, it has a hard time doing that if you are digesting "food". Best of luck to you! It does get easier!
  8. Lately I've gotten into a blahh about food. First off, I hate feeling full, I think that has helped me a lot with weight loss, but I almost avoid eating to keep from feeling full. It's physically uncomfortable for me to feel full, kinda hard to explain. I also rarely get excited about eating anymore. I know I need to eat, but I could literally go 2 days w/o eating if it wasn't for getting puney and a headache. I don't think I need an unfill or anything, perhaps I'm finally just losing my mind. LOL Anyone else in the same boat?
  9. I almost took phen-fen. What kept me from doing so was I didn't have insurance or a way to pay for it. It would be nice though if they could make something as effective as phen-fen but not dangerous. I remember talking to a lot of people who had lost weight from it.
  10. Congrats on almost meeting your goal and welcome to the forum!! How much weight have you lost?
  11. You will do great!! Have a great day and congrats on your new journey.
  12. It has been raining in Dallas all weekend. I finally just decided to go to the store. It started raining even harder when we were getting ready to leave Wal-Mart (go figure!). I actually ran from the front door of Wal-Mart to my truck and didn't feel like I was going to croak from a heart attack. My knee and back didn't like it much, but it was so wonderful to bounce along across the parking lot listening to my bundled up 17 month old daughter laughing because we were going so fast.
  13. Welcome to the forum! I'm Carrie, I live in the Mesquite, TX area. I've been banded since August, 2005 and lost right at 85lbs. I love my surgeon and my band. My hubby was banded this past January by the same doctor and is doing great. My best peice of advice is to remember that you are doing this for you and your future. Being banded is very much a mental process, so don't worry if you have a bad day, things will get better. Best of luck to ya!
  14. My former OB who moved away was friends with him. She recommended him to me if Dr. Powell didn't work out. I have never met him, but I trust my old doctor. Best of luck to ya!
  15. Another East Texan in the house, I'm from Tyler. Best of luck to everyone with their weight loss.
  16. I just turned 27 when I got banded last August. My BMI was over 40, I have a history of high blood pressure and I was almost 150lbs overweight (started at 297). Best of luck to you! Just never give up!
  17. Thanks Ladies, I went ahead and had it done today. I did it w/o CS, with just the local. It wasn't bad I was very comfy for a couple minutes when my right leg did stupid things because of nerves, but it was okay. He did mention something about me having a 40% chance of needing back surgery in the future.. I do plan on finding another doctor, he sucks.
  18. Sorry you are going through this. Did they give you a lot of IV fluids? Perhaps the IV fluids along with the sodium is the problem. I would definately talk to your doctor about it, perhaps he could give you some Water pills or something if he thinks that's all it is. Take care!
  19. Glad to hear you were able to find out what was going on. Thanks for the info and get to healing!
  20. Yeah I wouldn't recommend Xenical. I would recommend finding someone who is supportive of you. One of the side effects I'm sure she didn't tell you is not being able to control bowel movements of grease and slime, it just comes out even if you aren't expecting it. Not a good way to lose weight. If you are considering WLS then you are probably somewhere around 100lbs overweight, Xenical is not a real solution for someone who needs to lose that much weight in my opinion. My advice is to find someone else! Best of luck to ya!
  21. Glad to hear she is doing well. I can't wait for the pics!!
  22. Okay here's the story.. (not Lap Band related, but need help) Everyone knows my problem with my back. Today it honestly feels better. I went to the Ft. Worth Zoo and walked around for 2 hours, it only bothered me during the time I sat in traffic for 4 hours. I went to the doctor he told me I needed and MRI, got the MRI then he told me I had a herniated disc and suggested the pain relieving anti-inflammatory shots in my back. He made it sound like no big deal. I agreed. I know I'm stupid for not asking more questions, I was in pain at the time and he made it sound like nothing. Called back to see when it was going to be and they tell me I have to go to a SURGICAL Center. I'm like why? Isn't this done in office, they said no, they have to have the Fluro (X-Ray) Machine that is at the Surgical Center to do this. Nurse calls today telling me not to eat/drink after midnight, I'm like why?? I'm not having surgery. She said they were going to do Conscious Sedation and that was part of the anesthesia procedures. I have an intense fear of aneshesia and I refuse to sign the papers for any type of sedation, I would rather have the pain. My question is this: Has anyone else had this done (Injections in spine or other) and did they do any type of sedation? Did they give you a choice?? I've had CS once and it mortified me when I realized that I had no memory past getting the injection. I am a control freak and refuse to give up control of my body unless it is necessary. Thanks!
  23. Cool, I'm in the Mesquite area, but that Jason's Deli is right down the street from hubby's work. Hubby and I will try to make it.
  24. You will do great, I would love to see before and after pics as I plan to have this done eventually. Please keep us posted.
  25. You're doing great!!! Congrats!
