  1. I've tried Slim Fast as an occasional snack. It's not that bad, but boy does it give me the farts, can we say lactose intolerance?? TMI I know!
  2. Until my first really big goal. I want to be under 200lbs for my 28th birthday at the end of May. I haven't been under 200 since I was in middle school!! I am at 219 right now, I dunno what I am going to do when there isn't a 2 in front of the number anymore. Sorry I just had to brag!!
  3. Microsoft is the best. Hubby works there and we don't pay for our health insurance, they covered Lap Band for both of us with ZERO out of pocket. No co-pays or deductibles, they even cover 100% of fills. www.microsoft.com/jobs they have a site in Las Colinas, not all jobs are technical, but I dunno how hard it is to get on. He's been there for almost 9 years.
  4. You will do great, best of luck to you tomorrow!!
  5. Something you might try is FreeCycle on Yahoo. You could probably find someone there quickly that needs them and could use them.
  6. Thanks everyone! So far today the pain isn't that bad. I have noticed that doing a great deal of walking seems to help. I had the same problem during my pregnancy and after giving birth to my daughter. I did visit with a Chiropractor then (after my baby was born) and honestly left there in MORE pain most of the time than I went in with. He had a RMT doing deep tissue massages and it didn't help. I quit going and the pain went away.
  7. Even though my doctor told me that Flintstones were okay and that 2 equal an adult's dose, I ended up buying Chewable Centrum and taking it instead. I'll check the biotin in it and see.
  8. You will do fine. It's the normal pre-op what in the hell am I about to do to myself. I went through it too. It was followed by the what the hell did I do to myself question for about the next 2 weeks. Remember things do get better!
  9. I know it sounds crazy, but I had constant back pain for over a year, it went away for about 8 months and now it's back. Has anyone else experienced low back pain/tail bone pain AFTER losing weight? Perhaps my body is majorly out of alignment from losing almost 80lbs in 6 months?
  10. When I had my c-section my doctor told me to wait a year before I tried to tan because otherwise it would discolor the scar and make it more pronounced.
  11. Congrats on the surgery. Things will get a little easier each day. I was already sleeping on my tummy 3 weeks post-op. It's amazing how fast your body heals. Welcome to the losing side!
  12. Please try to be careful. The reason they tell you to be on liquids is to keep your stomach from having to contract to digest food. This is important to in order to build scar tissue around the band to support it. You will eat again, right now you need to concentrate on healing.
  13. It will be okay. It's best to try to behave, but if you don't have any liver problems you should be okay. Are you on Myocel or anything like that? Best wishes to you for a good surgery.
  14. As someone else pointed out this is a very personal choice. Personally I didn't like the statistics that go with the band. The risk of death is greater and after a few years the weight loss is comparable. I had to try the band first, if something happened and I lost my band then I would have GB or some other form of WLS. I refuse to be 300lbs again!
  15. 297 pounds, 6 months, 90%, 60 minutes, 3 fills, no diet drugs, white, 77 pounds lost". I don't exercise unless you count walking the mall 2-3 times a week. I'm a bargain shopper. And when I do drink it's just enough to moisten my mouth, not a full drink if that makes sense. I usually get my drink to go and drink it later.
  16. Hi Dody and welcome!! Stay put it gets exciting around here.
  17. It's a different feeling as the ladies pointed out. You don't get hungry low in your stomach as you did before. Now it's higher up. I don't like to be full, it makes me uncomfortable and I don't like the feeling. I eat about 3/4 of what my brain tells me to eat and leave the rest alone. It's something everyone has to learn for themselves when enough is enough. Best of luck to ya!
  18. I guess I'm evil. I have a sister who was mean as hell to me growing up. I was called 'thunder theighs", "fatso", etc growing up. Now I give her my old clothes. She loves the clothes and it makes me feel really good to know her ass is bigger than mine now. I'm mean I know!
  19. Hi, I am SOO GLAD to see you!! I've been thinking about you a lot in the past couple days. I too don't know about the blood thinner injections, they gave me a decent dose of Heparin before surgery that caused me to have problems with my period and nosebleeds. I wish you the best and remember we are here!!
  20. I had a bad flair up of a cyst once. I've been on the pill now for about 5 years (except when I wanted to get pg with my daughter) then I went right back on it 6wks postpartum. Best of luck to you on your surgery, please keep us posted.
  21. Welcome to BandLand!!! You already got some good advice, I just wanted to wish you the best.
  22. An old man goes to the doctor for his yearly physical, his wife tagging along. When the doctor enters the examination room, he tells the old man, "I need a urine sample, a stool sample and a sperm sample." The old man, being hard of hearing, looks at his wife and yells: "WHAT?" "What did he say? What's he want?" His wife yells back, "He needs your underwear."
  23. What works good for me is I view the bad food as what got me to 300lbs. Once I realize it's not my friend I go on and enjoy my weight loss. Best of luck to ya, it's definately a mental process you have to go through.
  24. Welcome to the losing side!
  25. I too want to know how you are doing. Please let us know. :welldone2:
