My capacity is 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons, which I guess is about 1/2 cup. I can't imagine eating more than that without my new tummy exploding back into my mouth. Like the others have said, eat small (baby spoon) bites, and eat them slowly to give that new tummy time to respond. You will get that tupperware burp or a big yawn or a hiccup or something. Miss Tummy will talk to you if you listen to it.
You cannot eat at the same pace and volume of your old tummy. And really, I think your family is insensitive to expect you to navigate eating in a restaurant with all the sights and smells. I think most of the rest of us were also advised to withhold beverages 1/2 hour either side of eating, and then only sipping gradually....no big chugs like we used to.
And I don't think I have ever disagreed with Madam Reverie on this forum. She is spot on, once again. Your doctor just severed 80%-85% of your stomach and jerked it out of your body. You will do damaged if you are not pro-active about your own care. If you measure 1/2 cup of food and eat that....walk away from the rest. I have a rule to measure, and then never eat the last bite. 5k finished in exactly 35 minutes! Ran with my amazing support group of friends, coworkers and my youngest daughter. They made us awesome shirts that said , "Are those New Glasses?" I told them when I had the surgery that comments about my weight would make me uncomfortable. They were only allowed to ask me if I got new glasses or a new haircut. I love these guys.

I was sleeved 10/21/13 & lost 80lbs since . I am 23 &my one & ONLY regret is that I didnt get this surgery years ago!

None.. However the first week after surgery I did have a moment of realization that my relationship with food will changeforever. I had a little melt down for one day. Just wanted to cry. I never looked back that day. Now ..no regrets at all. Food is def not my focus in life like it was preop,

I am 2 days post op too!!! Some soreness and gas pain but much better than I anticipated! I'm doing the same as u.. Clear Liquids and medicine cupfulls of Protein Shakes. it looks like we have similar stats too....my highest was 292, first surgery appt I was 286, day of surgery 269..... Can't wait to weigh in at 10 day post op visit.... I'm Melissa by the way!!

It's been 1 1/2 years since my sleeve. I started as a 246 lb woman who wore size 28w. Now I am 118 lbs wearing a 0 sometimes size 2. I am thankful for the opportunity to have had the sleeve. Especially since I had a heart attack 2 years ago.

5am surgery for me. The nervousness is starting.

It's almost time 2/10/14 good luck praying for everyone! I can't sleep and I'm start bright and early 5am excited!

I have a 3 yr old son. I am not sore at all. No pain what-so-ever. I honestly do not feel l just had major abdominal surgery. It is so freaky. I have to keep reminding myself and I am not hungry at all.

Awesome to hear u r doing sooo damn good-- hopeful im as fortunate! Hows getting up n down off couch n in n out of bed? Do u have any young children...mine are 2n 3 n im nervous about them jumping n wanna me to lift them :/

I had my sleeve done Monday and came home yesterday afternoon. Tuesday was not fun. Lots of stomach spasming. Today I feel like I didn't even have surgery. Able to drink without any problems. I had two Protein Shakes today, yogurt, a little Soup and a good amount of Water. The only thing is the gurgling sound in my upper airway...throat and belly. I feel super blessed but I am amazed at how good I feel. Has anyone else felt like they were back to normal this soon post op?

Its coming up sooo fast! I cheated yesterday by having a couple of bites of pulled pork and absolutely hated myself for it! Its so tough not "eating" & having to still prepare meals for the family. Anyways, Its out of my system now and Im good to go! We can do this! Have any of you picked up any books on weight loss surgery? I know that Im going to have to work on my head to overcome my past eating problems.

I can't sleep I'm freaking out.... This damn snow in nj is killing me!!!! My surgery was pushed back twice already and now I don't know if ill make it to dr tomorrow to get medical clearance and we are supposed to get another storm Sunday night n I'm afraid my Monday surgery will be cancelled :( :(

Hi my fellow sleevers. I don't post here often enough anymore but I get so much support and motivation here. I'm hoping this will give encouragement to someone who needs it. I was sleeved in May 2013. I have spent the last almost three months in a stall and bouncing up and down. Although I felt like giving up I didn't. I stuck with the program. Suddenly in the last ten days, eight pounds fell off putting me at a normal bmi. I have to admit I had started to believe this wouldn't happen. My doc set my goal at 170-177 (still overweight) so when I stalled for so long at about 166 I thought, well I guess that's it. I wasn't done and I'm still not done. I'm now 158 and sky's the limit! My weight loss has gone mostly like this. Long stalls with chunks of loss here and there. I was 240 the day I was sleeved and my highest weight was 268. Good luck to everyone.
