jujubslim got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in Just wish I could make a decision!
You may want to double check your weight loss benefit. If you get the band and God forbid there are issues that prevent it from working for you your insurance may not cover another surgery.

jujubslim got a reaction from 1Day1Life4Now in To date or not to date?
I'd wait a little bit to get back in the dating scene, unless of course it happens naturally and you meet someone by chance. Give yourself a few months to make yourself a priority.
As far as online dating, I met my husband 14 years ago online. I lived in California, he lived in Pennsylvania. I relocated after a couple years and here I am. Love the guy to death! I was thinner when we met, I gained 50lbs through out our relationship and he never once made me feel undesirable. He's been amazingly supportive through this process. It is possible to meet a great guy, just avoid those "hook up" sites.

Google ricotta bake, I've heard people rave about it. I don't remember off the top of my head but it's basically ricotta, cheese and sauce. Perfect for pureed stage and it has lots of Protein

jujubslim reacted to Katcloudshepherd in Serious Question; Overracting or Right to Be Upset
I didn't know the VA did this surgery. I am a veteran of the cold war but am blessed with health insurance through my job.
Yes, I would be very upset at having surgery without meeting the surgeon first!
Jeez, why is it acceptable for this type of unprofessionalism towards veterans which would NEVER be acceptable towards non-veterans?
Secondly, the surgeon is performing a medical procedure ON YOUR BODY without actually meeting you first? What the frack?
I wish you the best in your recovery.
Blessings,
Kahleen

jujubslim got a reaction from green*eyed*girl in What made you decide to have VSG?
I've been obese my whole life, I've tried every diet imaginable, I've lost then gained. I'm sure you all know the story. I thought about surgery a couple years ago and I chickened out.
My turning point this time is I'm approaching 40, I'm feeling aches and pains particularly in my hips. One day I was surfing TMZ and saw a picture of the lead singer of Color Me Bad (for those who dont know who they are they were a one hit wonder from the 90's, they sang I wanna sex you up) anyhow the lead singer used to be so thin and attractive and now he's so huge he needs a walker to get around. I decided I'd rather deal with weight loss surgery now than a hip replacement in a few years because I'm too fat. So here I am surgery is on st Patrick's day

jujubslim reacted to Comfy_Blue in honest desires....
My honest desires:
1. I want to not be afraid/ashamed to post pictures of myself on Facebook because I don't want people to see how big I've gotten
2. To have a healthy pregnancy
3. To completely rid myself of sleep apnea
4. To no longer be the "fat" one of my friends (in HS, my friend Jane was chunky and I was thin. Now she's super thin thanks to a Vegan diet and I was chunky and I could tell she delighted a little in that. Looking forward to getting back to my old, thin self and having her see me)
5. No longer avoiding my husband's work/family gatherings because I am embarassed about being the fattest woman in the room and/or that people are like, "DANG, his wife has a pretty face and nice personality, but she looks a lot bigger than in the photos"
6. Being able to buy clothes without trying them on first (I've actually done this several times so far and it feels great)
7. For my knees to stop crunching from the excess weight
8. Even though I'm sure I will always see my imperfections, I am proud of how I look and enjoy seeing my slimming form in the mirror

jujubslim got a reaction from Megan00 in So anxious! Waiting for Insurance Approval
My dr wasn't really strict. I just had to log everything, I use myfitnesspal. He recommended I lose 2lbs a week but if I didn't lose that wouldn't delay surgery as long as I didn't gain. I lost 14lbs. The first month I didn't lose anything it was right around the holidays. This last month I lost 10

jujubslim got a reaction from takingaleap in Need a fake surgery, dont want the little league moms to know
You can tell them you had Diverticulitis and had to have some of your colon removed. This will explain the weight loss and also having an unusual diet. I know someone who that happened to, I think it would be a good cover. If I was a better liar I'd use that excuse. lol

Sorry I forgot to add he put me on 1500 calorie diet and recommended not more than 30 carbs per meal. I averaged about 1200 calories a day

Depending on your insurance requirements some people have to do 3 or 6 months of medically supervised diet. The diet is really up to your doctor, some doctors are a little more laxed than others.

I am also waiting. My stuff was submitted last week and insurance had called my surgeons office for more weight history (I hope that is not a bad thing!). I am tentatively scheduled for March 31st if approved!

jujubslim got a reaction from darneka1 in Out of Pocket and Deductible Question?
Is that 2890.00 for the dr or hospital or both?
Here's what you need to ask the financial counselor. Ask for the total amount that is covered by your insurance company. Once they give you that amount you'll be able to figure out what 20% is. If 20% is less than the 2890.00 I'd call your insurance and let them know they're billing you for more than the contract amount. If the 20% is greater than 2890.00 that's why they're charging you the max before surgery and they're entitled to collect up front.

jujubslim got a reaction from is it just me in My face is "too thin!"? I'm still over 200 lbs!
I think people get used to seeing you fat it's a shock to see you getting thin. It's going to take awhile for them to get used to it. I doubt you look bad, it's just different and sometimes people don't like change
