Well, I was banded on Oct. 5, 2007 by Dr. Ponce in Dalton, Ga. :clap2: It has been a little over one week since my surgery. The first week was hard :sick. I was hungry and weak :whoo:. I was getting in my calories but not enough sugar so I had a rough week :faint:. I'm back at work now. I went for my one week follow up just six days after my surgery and I had lost 10 pounds already!!!! :clap2: I couldn't believe it. I've done great at sticking to the proper lap band diet they put you on just after being banded. It has not been easy, but I made the commitment before surgery to follow the rules and that's what I plan to do. I know with the help of LapBand Talk I can do it! I'm looking forward to my 4 week followup to see how much weight I have lost by then. I'll keep it posted! I can't wait for some solid food :hungry:!

Well, Dr. Ponce's office has been very helpful but the confusion has been very irritating. My surgery had to be rescheduled due to my bloodwork results not being sent in time. I had no idea they didn't have my results until the day before I was scheduled for surgery. Now I have to wait another week before I can have surgery. It was crazy trying to work out the details of who I pay for what. But, we finally got it worked out and the ladies in the office know me by my first name. They have been helpful and nice. Hopefully the confusion is now over and I will be banded Oct. 5th. :clap2:

So, needless to say my surgery had to be rescheduled and I had to have my bloodwork redone. :car: I am now scheduled for surgery on Oct. 5th. Just a week and one day away. :clap2: I just keep reminding myself that everything happens for a reason and only God know's the reason behind the delay and the mess ups. So I'm waiting patiently for another week. The hardest part is finding a sitter for my three babies. Now I'll have to work all that out again for a new surgery date. :phanvan Nettie

Wow, my surgery is now only one week away on Wednesday Sept. 26th :clap2:. I am excited and scared :omg: at the same time. I went for my pre-op class yesterday where I learned proper eating habits :hungry: and met others that will be getting the lap band. I will have my hietal hyrnia repaired when they put in my band which can cause more swelling and a little longer recovery time, but I'm ready! On another note... I lost my brother in law last week 9/12/07 after he went in for surgery to remove a tumor on his kidney. :think There were complications during surgery and he lost too much blood and suffered a heart attack. He passed the day after he had surgery. This has been very tramatic for me and made me even more nervous. No surgery is minor surgery! I'm just praying :car: that God will watch over me through this journey and give me the strength to get through each day one day at a time!!!!

Well, I got the good news Friday 9/7/07. I have been approved and will be having my surgery for lap band on 9/26/07. :clap2: Only a few weeks away! I'm nervous but I'm ready!

Well, I had my consult on Aug. 28th went to the seminar on Aug. 9th. Went for upper gi test on Sept. 4th. Now I'm waiting for my surgeon to get back with me to schedule surgery. Seems like just a whole lot of hurry up and wait. It's frustrating, but I know it will all be worth it in the end.

I know it can't be easy working with people that can be so insensitive. If it is harrasment I would also advise you to go to HR and complain. However, if it is not harrasment I would say hold your head up high and just know that you are doing something about it! We all need to learn to love ourselves more. I know I do! Good luck with your surgery.

I am also self pay. My Dr. charges me 50.00 for the first year and then 125.00 after the first year for fills.

Well, I went for my upper gi series on Tuesday Sept. 4th. The Dr. said I have a small hyetal hyrnia. He said it shouldn't be a problem and I should be able to have the surgery but my lap band Dr. has not been over the results yet so I am waiting again to hear from him. If all is well, I can schedule my surgery. Keep your fingers crossed! :car:

Hi Sharon, I am new to this site and I had my consult yesterday with my DR. Hopeing to be banded soon. Just wanted to wish you well on your journey.

Well, My consult with Dr. Ponce went well yesterday :mad:. I am scheduled for my upper gi next week :speechles and once the results are in from that test, hopefully I can schedule my surgery date :clap2:. Dr. Ponce answered all my questions and I feel like this is the right decision for me. I am still very nervous about doing it, but then surgery is a big deal. I am praying for God's guidance :car: and I know that with him on board I can't loose. Wish me luck on my test results! :glasses

Wow, thanks for the input. I'm sure that will help in making my decision. I went to the seminar and was scheduled the next day for my consult which is next week. I will be self pay so I'm hoping to get in quick, guess we will see. Again, thanks for the input.

Went to Lap Band Seminar on Aug. 9th. Was referred to Chattanooga since I would be self pay. Cost was over 19,000.00 in Dalton and only 13,800.00 + 250.00 consult in Chattanooga. Called and set up consult for Aug. 28th. Must pay the 250.00 day of consult.

Well, I have really enjoyed this site. I have found a lot of great information and things that will help me on my journey :clap2:. I have read some good and some bad :car: things about the lap band but all in all mostly good. I feel that the only way I will ever know myself is just to go ahead and take that leap :omg:. I feel like I'm ready! I can't wait to go for my consult on the 28th and I hope my surgery will come soon after. Thanks to everyone on this site for the great input!!!! :glasses
