  1. well..thank you all for your posts...Do any of you know Dr. Christopher W. Chase? My Lapband Doc's office referred me to him...
  2. I am thinking about plastic surgery. I need a tummy tuck and breast lift. I was referred to a Doc in Chattanooga TN and wanted to see if anyone on here has used this doc...Dr. Christopher W. Chase? Any info. on him would be great!
  3. I had LAP-BAND®® surgery 3 years ago this month. I have lost about 95 pounds. I am very unhappy with the excess skin around my tummy area. I am considering plastic surgery. Has anyone had a tummy tuck after LAP-BAND®® surgery? I am about 15 pounds from my goal weight but am happy now other than my tummy....any advice would be greatly appreciated! I also have stretch marks and some scars from other surgeries on my lower abdomen...would a tummy tuck take care of the stretch marks and other scars?
  4. HI, I have been banded for going on 3 years this coming October. I still have issues with reflux but only if I eat past 7pm. I was recently in the hospital and learned that I had Asperation Pneumonia which was caused when I sucked food down into my lungs while sleeping due to reflux. It set up infection in my lungs. I had eaten too late that night and boy did I pay for that. NOT FUN!
  5. Ok, may be a strange question but I'm going to post it anyway... I am finally slim enough that I feel comfortable laying in a tanning bed and I'm not sure if it is safe with the lap band?? Yes, I know they are bad for you and can potentially cause other issues but are they dangerous for your band??:confused::confused:
  6. Ok, some days I feel normal and others I even wonder what's normal anyway? I do have to be cautious of eating out due to battling alergies and still having issues with mucus. I have been banded over two years and I will say, I'm certainly glad I did it and would do it all over again!
  7. Best of luck to you on your journey!
  8. I've been banded for 1 year and 8 months. I'm glad I had it done but I'm still not at goal weight. I wish you the best of luck on your journey. I have lost about 70 lbs. and my cost was around 14,000... It was worth it to me.
  9. My family was very concerned about my decision but their fears were put to rest when we got to the surgery center and the nurses and Dr. assured them that they would take good care of me. (and they did)... I've been through 8 surgeries including lap band and it was by far the easiest I've had to go through. I would not change my decision..I'm so happy with my results so far. It's been one year since my lap band surgery and I'm so happy with my results.... I wish you the best in what ever your decision may be...
  10. Congrats to you! I am from North Ga. I live in Ellijay, Ga. Very small town. I drive to Chattanooga TN. to see my Dr. He also has an office in Dalton, but because I was self pay I have to see him in Chattanooga. I do not go to the support groups they offer because it's too far away. Wish I could start a support group in my town....just a thought. I hope you do great on your journey...best of luck to you.
  11. I went for a 6 week follow up and lost NO weight since my last visit. They took fluid out of my band at the last visit. So this time they put fluid back in. Hopefully I will start to lose again. I've been stuck for some time now. I did lose 4 fat lbs. but gained muscle weight. The scale did not budge. I am losing inches. I have gone from a size 20 to a size 14....YEAH!!! I have started my walking routine and hopefully I can start my aerobics workouts again to. My kids are back in school so that means I will have more ME time. I walked 2 miles this morning and it was nice! I love to walk at the park by the river....great way to start the day :frown: I hope to lose at least 10 lbs before my next visit which is Sept. 16th. Wish me luck!!! :biggrin2:

I went in for my follow up and was at 189 lbs. Down 46 1/2 lbs. since surgery. I had to have a slight unfill due to vomitting. I can't seem to get these allergies under controll. It is causing an enourmous amount of mucus. That is what is causing the vomitting. I hope this is a good adjustment for me. I'd like to see the weight start to fall off again. I say, ONE DAY AT A TIME!

  15. I tried on clothes yesterday and realized I am down from a size 20 to a size 14!!! YEAH! Go Me!
  16. Wow, I've gone from a size 20 to a size 14! I'm so excited. I went and tried on clothes for the first time in a long time. I knew my clothes had gotten way to big but I was not sure what size I actually was until yesterday (6/18/08). I went and was able to fit in a size 14. Now if my boobs would just shrink a little with the rest of my body I'd feel much better. Life is grand!

  18. Well...I bought a new swimsuit and took the kiddies to the water park over the weekend. I have to admit that I was very uncomfortable but I made it through the day. All the time wishing I looked like the girl walking by in her suit or the one eating that big honking hotdog and skinny as a rail. Oh...lets not forget the one that was falling out of her suit and my hubby pointed her out to me. She was with a friend that didn't even tell her that her boob was hanging out. How embarrasing. All in all it was a good day! Thank you all for your encouragement!
  19. Thanks for all the support!!! I guess I just need to tell myself each day that I am BEAUTIFUL. Maybe I will start to believe it. I do look back at the before photo's and think.... wow...that was me. I do look different but I still see myself as being fat....I know it's mostly in my head but with my DH's support and all the support I'm getting on here that will change eventually....I hope! Thank you all for your comments!
  20. Thank you Julie. I know you are right. I have never loved myself at any weight. A lot of this has to do with the way I was raised. I love my father but believe me...he never missed a chance to tell me I needed to stop eating. I think I hear his voice in my head every time I look at myself in the mirror. He was never mean to me. He was raised that way so he just doesn't know the proper way to tell someone that they need to watch their weight or the way they eat. I went and got a new haircut yesterday and that made me feel good. I have not wanted to buy clothes becuase I know they will not fit for very long. Maybe a new outfit would make me feel better. Think I will try that. Thanks for your input!
  21. Well, I've been banded for 8 months and I have lost 50 pounds . That's almost half way to my goal. The weight has not come off as fast as I would like, but it is coming off . I'm down to about 185 lbs. That's great considering I was at 235 when I started . So, you would think I would have some of my self esteem back. I would feel beautiful. I would not be ashamed of the way I look. How do I get my mind to gradually catch up with my shrinking body??? I've been fat for so long that I forgot what it feels like to feel beautiful. So, I do feel better about myself but I still think of myself as "FAT" . I will not wear certain clothes because I look fat. I will not go to the water park or the pool because I don't want to put on a swimsuit and look fat. My husband keeps saying "honey your not fat" you look good. Why don't I believe him??? I need to know how to look at myself and see a beautiful person and not see that Fat girl staring back at me. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get back your self esteem???? I know when I was 140 lbs. I still thought I was fat and I don't want to think that way anymore!!!! Suggestions Please!!!
