Carlotta1 got a reaction from mommy1990 in Yayyy i got approval... But now i have a major dilemma
Why can't you get someone to take care of your mom for at least two weeks, at your home. My suggestion is to take care of your health now..so that u can continue to take of your mom before her condition deteriorates further. Ask friends, family, or even hire an RN to help out. Best of luck to you on your new journey.

Do you feel now that it is working you have to tell them? I know I was open about my surgery to people I worked with and friends. Now, that I have most foods back in my life, I will see some coworkers checking to see what I am eating. Sometimes they'll ask me if I am allowed to have a certain type of food. It's a blessing and a curse at the same time. I feel I am under the microscope and don't want to let them or myself down, but also feel a bit uncomfortable under their scrutiny. I know the road will be filled with challenges along the way and want to enjoy the trip there. This lifestyle may at sometime become automatic, but I feel also if I don't watch it, old eating habits could easily sneak in and I won't reach the finish line.

Carlotta1 reacted to saira in 7 months and 90lbs down
So I thought I'd share my thoughts now that I'm 7 months out. Firstly 7 months goes fast! Like too fast!
I'm fine no complications to share, though my mum who had surgery 3 weeks after me. She ended up getting clots and is now on warfarin. But I believe that's more to do with surgery in general not specifically wls.
I think I've been bad, I don't think I've ever got in the recommended amount of Protein or liquids. But I try. I know I'm almost always dehydrated which doesn't feel too great.
I don't have any restrictions on anything I can't eat but of course 5 bites and I'm full.
I haven't been that active on here but if any one has any questions, I'm always happy to help!
The pics are from before surgery the day after surgery and some random ones over the past 7 months. With the most recent that was take 2 says ago whilst getting ready for the work Xmas do

Carlotta1 reacted to indecision in 8 Months and 9 Days GOAL!
I stepped on the scale this morning and saw that magical number that I set for myself in the beginning of this journey. My goal was to get to 230 and that is what popped up this morning. My surgery was on April 3rd of this year. At pre-op I weighed in at 362. So that is 132 pounds gone. And those pounds are gone forever!
At the moment I am still contemplating what to do from here. Part of me a very small part off me wants to say ehh I am good. A larger part of me wants to now change the goal. You see years ago I was at the highest weight I ever saw on the scale which was 418, so my full weight loss total to date is 188. That being said I kinda want to see my total loss be at 200. Seems like a pretty cool number to me. I know I can get 12 more pounds off. I will be deciding over the next few days on what to do I guess.
The journey itself was in no way an easy one. Sure I lost a ton of weight in a short amount of time but you HAVE to work at it. Did I sometimes eat things I shouldn't. Uh yes. But I was able to stack more good days together than bad. I have never felt better than I do today and I know that its only going to get better!

Thanks for all of the encouraging comments guys.
At what point does the surgery break even with all the money and efforts? For example, I weighed 325 pounds when I started. For me to really say, ok it was worth cutting my stomach out I'd need to get to about 250 pounds, although my real goal is to try and break under 200 a bit. (I'm 6 ft and pretty built so I could carry that weight ok)...
    What is the magic number.

Carlotta1 reacted to lsereno in Eight weeks out: Can I eat nuts now?
Have some Peanut Butter. Programs vary, but nuts are hard little bits that are hard to digest and likely to stick where you don't want them. Eat some Peanut Butter or PB2. Drizzle a little walnut oil on something. My program allowed only soft foods and didn't even allow beef for the first six weeks.
Read through the complications forum to get some idea of what can go wrong.

Is it gas, or is it the Diet Snapple that's making you hurt? My freshly sleeved stomach cramped up when I tried sugar free Popsicle and sugar free Jello, but it did great with warm broth and warm Decaf tea. Maybe try something warm?

Carlotta1 got a reaction from LindafromFlorida in Had gastric sleeve yesterday. Hey.
Just wanted to report that my surgery went well. I am resting and walking around every once in a while. I do have heartburn but the dr prescribed nexium for me. I don't have an appetite. So eating Jello, Popsicles , and broth is not bad. Tomorrow I start with full liquids. To those who have not the surgery. Ask for a nausea patch if u are nauseated from anesthesia . Also a relaxer for those who are too anxious . I did not even remember when they rolled me into or My dr is very very thorough .i was in surgery for4 hours.. I was a lapband to sleeve patient. He took a lot of time in cleaning up my scar tissue. I thanked god when I opened my eyes in the recovery room and saw my hubby smiling at me. I.t is all good. And I an grateful for all the wonderful experiences in my life. This is surely one of them. I will thinking and praying for the remainder of the December sleevers who are about to embark on this journey.
