  1. It feels like someone is stepping on my throat with their foot. It is a horrible feeling that can last for hours and hours, during which time you just want to throw up. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. The thought of getting that feeling again, has kept me from eating things I should not, eating too much at a time, or eating too fast.
  2. Challenge accepted!!!
  3. I was cleared to lift more than ten pounds after ten weeks post-op. I have been hitting the gym hard ever since.
  4. I have been hitting the gym hard since being cleared to workout at the ten week post-op mark. I try to eat or drink 15 to 20 grams of Protein 20 to 30 minutes before working out. (cardio or weights) I try to eat or drink another 15 to 20 grams of protein within 45 minutes after my workout. I can't back this up with any scientific research, I am simply sharing my routine with you. I think it is great that you are being active and walking. Keep it up. I wouldn't start with the weights until being cleared to do so. I was on a strict 10 pound lifting restriction for the first ten weeks. (That doesn't mean I didn't keep a set of 5lb dumbells around to use at my house.) Keep trying different things and after a few weeks you will find what does or doesn't work for you. Keep up the great work!!! Best Wishes!!
  5. I will more than happy to help you as well.
  6. I did for a few weeks post-op. I ate gas-x chewables like my life depended on it. It eventualy passed. (No pun intended)
  7. I make an avocado dip every once in a while. I only eat a 2oz serving at a time along with a 1oz serving of chips.
  8. I make a chia seed drink. 1/2 gallon of water and 4 tablespoons of chia seeds. I flavor the water with fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice, and 2 tablespoons of Agave nectar. Delicious!!
  9. Hang in there!!!! 5 days is not a stall, so don't get hung up on that. Be patient. Hold the vision and trust the process. Best wishes!
  10. I started eating 1 oz of dry cereal around the 12 week post-op mark. As of now, I can eat 1 oz of cereal with about 4 oz of milk. I love starting my day off this way.
  11. Hold the vision and trust the process!! You will break thru this stall!!!
  12. This book really opened my eyes to the food industry. Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us by Michael Moss (Feb 28, 2013) Great topic!
  13. I was cleared to lift weights at the ten week mark.
  14. I was delayed twice, so don't despair. It happens.
  15. I agree with Chelly, look into getting a personal trainer.
  16. I haven't tried Go lean yet, but I want to.
  17. i started eating them 4 months post-op. They are my number one go to when I have to eat out with friends or family.
  18. A huge thank you to all the vets. I have learned so much from you!!!
  19. I just had my nine month post-op follow up and my doctor and my NUT are a little concerned about me. They both feel I have lost enough weight. I told them I have not. I have had family members, co-workers, and friends ask me how much more I plan on loosing. I tell them I have no idea but ten more pounds would be awesome. They all look at me like I am crazy. I probably am, but I am having so much fun that I don't really care what anyone thinks. I am in uncharted waters and until the boat starts to sink, I am going to keep sailing. Awesome topic!!!
  20. Really glad to hear it!!!
  21. I only lost 5 pounds. I don't think my pre-op diet was as restrictive as it should have been. I only had to do a 5 day full liquid diet.
  22. I am doing what I was put on this Earth to do, deliver medical supplies and have salon quality hair.
  23. I had to wait 10 weeks before I could lift weights, swim, and (at the time) try running. I walked as much as I could during those ten weeks. I also did light stretching and I played Wii Sports.
  24. Alright!!! Are there any support groups in your area? I have been told by others on this site that it is a great way to stay motivated.
