Yeah I do a cup in the am.
  4. I hope it gets better for you.Jesus that's rough.I would definitely contact your doc if your that sick.
  5. I have to halve tylenol or anything larger. I have to empty my capsules as they're too big.
  6. I have to pack mine daily...its taking forever to heal and I want to swim!
  7. Not pleasant but over in 5 seconds...I had chest tubes in for an open heart surgery in 2000 ( about 5x the size of the JP drain) and those were an adventure to get pulled! Don't let the fear become the worst part. It helps if you bear down a little and breathe our when they pull them. And you'll feel better when it's out.
  8. I exercised and watched what I ate before surgery...stuck to the liquid diet religiously. I lost 20 lbs and gain muscle mass. I did go to a nice restaurant for a meal before my liquid diet, but I don't think of it as a last meal...it was just the last gross amount of food I'm ever going to eat. It seem inconceivable that I ate all that now. My team gave me all sorts of stats about how people who exercise do so much better after surgery...I took them at their word.
  9. I was fine for four weeks and the last two days...BARF. Going back to liquid for a few days. Just trying to get protein and vitamins in today. Yesterday...couldn't get the vitamins in without gagging. It seem like a lot of people get icky about 4-6 weeks out. Maybe because we're trying new food.
  10. I have chronic pain, and I hurt when I have any impact...my pain is in my chest wall so if I do exercise where I have to hold up my trunk for any length of time, it hurts. Swimmimg is the answer for me. Before surgery I did water aerobics and on off days I would tread water vigorously (to the point where my heartrate got up) for 45 minutes four times a week. Can't wait for my incision to heal to get back to it. In the meantime I walk. I also ordered some low impact toning weight work out dvds to try...we'll see how they go. recumbent bike might work for you too.
  11. Eggocado Pit an avocado slice small portion off bottom so avocado will lie flat Mix two eggs with 1/8 c. skim milk add 2 Tbls. salsa, 1/8 c. low fat cheddar cheese, ground cumin to taste Add egg mixture to hollowed out avocados ( You may have to scoop out some avocado flesh so it all fits) Top with sprinkles of low fat cheddar bake at 350 for 16-18 minutes until set YUM Trying this one as soon as I'm feeling better.

  13. My pouch tolerated spicy foods really well so I pureed salsa into everything for flavor. Also try baked ricotta: Ricotta cheese sugar free spaghetti sauce Top with fat free mozzarella and Parmesan and baked until bubbly. Hope purees go well for you!
  14. h the dreaded pureed stage...My mainstay was chicken salad: 1 can fat free chicken breast 1 scant Tls. olive oil mayo 1/2 c. plain fat free greek yougurt 1/2/t. dill weed. 1/4 t. celery seed pepper to taste Puree and enjoy! Add fat free chicken broth if you need to puree easier.
  15. welcome Janice, I would call your surgeon if you have any questions. From what I'v read around here, there is no normal...some people drop weight right away, some hit stalls. I haven't dropped in about a week, but I know if I do what I'm supposed to, it will come off. I'm just so damned impatient.
  16. Don't bread the egg plant...can you not have carbs at all? Make your own sauce or get organic sugar free sauce and you should be gold. I would lightly sear the eggplant in olive oil before baking....very little oil...it absorbs it.
  17. Yeah, me too. My husband is floating around looking worried, saying, " I didn't know THIS could happen" ( even though I told him it could).
  18. I guess we're all different...I just wish I felt better. Just puked my protein
  19. Im sticking to liquids for awhile. I've heard from so many people that 4-6 weeks was a really barfy time.As long as I drik and get protein in ( which is tough today) I don't care.
  20. It seems like I hear that everyone starts getting sick about 4 weeks out...maybe I'm rushing my food too much. I really didn't feel sick from eating...actually woke up nauseous two days ago and it hasn't gone away. I'll do liquids 'til it passes.
  21. Im so sorry. I just started getting sick...Im 4 weeks out. It seems to be the voodoo time, so I'm back on liquids for two days. I really hope you feel better soon. If you can't keep liquids down get yurself some zofran or other nausea med. Call you doc.
  22. yup, that's it...I needed my own toiletries and my Kindle. Didn't even bring my purse.
