A jp line is just a drainage tube they put in after surgery. Very normal to have one because it helps drain excessive Fluid. Feels very funny when they take it out, I had no pain.

vachick64 reacted to krista1020 in Maybe not keeping it a secret?
Disclaimer- although most people around me know that I'm having surgery, if I ever go back to my hometown to visit (high school reunion, etc). I will not be sharing:). They can just think I was one of the lucky ones who aged well

vachick64 reacted to turtle lips in Maybe not keeping it a secret?
My plan was to also tell as few people as possible. My husband and two daughters know, and a few good friends. I've been trying to decide if I need to tell anyone else. The closer I get to my surgery date, the more I think I'll tell others after the fact. I'm not ashamed of the surgery, I'm ashamed of the fact I got this big to begin with and now need to have surgery to help me loose it.

vachick64 reacted to shaleesun in What ya eating tonight?
I ate out for the first time today. I ordered a grilled chicken fajita with onions and peppers grilled. Ended up eating the innards of half of it ( which equalled 1/2 cup because I measured the other half when i was getting it ready for tommarrows lunch). They also brought my old time fav of deep fried tortia chips with their homemade salsa. I tried a bite of it and my pouch did not like!!! When got home, fed the dogs the hips and wrap shells. Dogs didn't know what to do, they are not use to me brining them home food from a restraunt. even my fiancé made the comment that before I would have eaten my plate and 3/4ths of our sons and now barely eat. I felt very proud that I could eat out and not let my food addiction win.

You look wonderful! I can not wait for the face changes. So tired of the double chin and face that looks like a loaf of bread! Lol

vachick64 reacted to music1618 in Whats was the First thing.....
For me the first big thing that made me smile was that I could look down and see my feet. I usually avoided scales and would measure my success of weight loss by how much of my feet I could see in the shower. After my surgery I looked down a was surprised I could see so much of my feet.

vachick64 reacted to Butterflys123 in so upset
Hi There
Wow 72lbs that's truly FANTASTIC!!!
It's a shame that u had that experience @ the doctors
How about focusing on other ways to measure your weight loss success
1.Tape Measure
2.Clothes
3.Jewelry
4.Sticking to the WLS Rules
5.Photograph yourself
Given what u have lost so far to get to goal will happen by maintaining the Rules
U will get there keep up the good work :-)

vachick64 reacted to worm2872 in "Stalls" why do people Freak out!
Wow, this is kinda harsh. Yes you are right that stalls are part of the process and that is a life style change but I am sorry that we get upset and even angry. When you do the life style change and not only stall but gain weight, it HURTS! Heck, I have even gained an inch in my waist size the last month and I am not even three months out yet. Yes, logically I can step back and understand the process but I AM TERRIFIED! I can handle the stalls to a point but the gaining kills me esp when I AM FOLLOWING the program I was given and I am very well aware this is just a tool. Yes counseling can help but it can not fix the fear of failure some of us have. This is our last hope. Our last chance. I can see all of your points but please understand the other side as well. Just like the weight will not drop off overnight our history of weight loss failure will not disappear overnight either. My NUT even told me right before surgery that she had a fear this may not really help me so I live with that daily too. Just please keep this in mind when you see us reaching out for help. I, at least, just want some encouragement to keep going.
