Book To Read Prior To Surgery
When I ordered that book, I also ordered the weight loss surgery vcookbook for dummies. That's the best guidebook! Has everything you should know from pre to when you're on real foods. Even tells you how to set up your kitchen and what you need in it. That's gonna be my go to book. Bringing with me today for nutritionist appt and when I see Dr. Should suggest everyone gets it to his patients.

Found A Fantastic Guide Book!
Not sure if anyone else posted about this. In reading another post, I saw Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies. I'm sure I'm going for RNY bypass one but wanted to know more about others. So went to order it and saw Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook For Dummies. I am sooo happy I found it. It's already doggeared and highlighted and has colored tags all over it and haven't gotten to real food recipes yet. Really, this has the best info! It starts with your liquid pre surg diet. What to bring to hospital and how to set up your kitchen! Then just hits every other point from there. I can't recommend this enough. Everyone should look at this. Even think Drs should recommend it for reading before surg. I realize all Drs have their own guidelines and this may have stuff you don't have to do/use but still...what a help. Wasn't sure where I should post...here, post surg or cookbook? Reaches all of these really.

Wow! That's really strange. Never saw that before. Any reason for it. Even after changing group too?

New Here, Needing Support
Hi Shannon. Welcome. I'm still pre surg so I haven't had this yet. I'm sure many have had this. We've all had it happen dieting. Just need a jump start and going to gym is one of those ways. So good for you. Support groups are also a big help. Face to face, phone, web, whatever you can do. You'll do fine. Sending support and strength!

Feeling Isolated Starting The Preop Diet...
You are so right Jenneliza! I am still pre and may be singing a different song when it's my turn. I am just getting myself geared up for that time now. Hopefully I can keep these thoughts during the trying time to come. Guess we just have to start looking at affairs and get togethers in a different way. For ourselves. Food is a major part for most everyone and we need to smile and agree with everyone and inside know we are doing the right thing for us and food is being put in it's place now! Low on the list of importance.

Pre-Op Nutritionist Appoint
Hmmm, great....I have my appt. next Tues with dietician. She's a referral from bariatric office too. The psych went well. I fooled him. Got a good report. I only get 2 visits a year with my dietician. Hope I like her. Know I'm having a problem with artificial sweeteners. I get a reaction to them.

Feeling Isolated Starting The Preop Diet...
Well, essentially it should be the eating. You can still sit with your husband and it should take a long time to have your 'meal' to get ready for after and it takes 20 mins for 4 oz of fluids. LOL Keeping company with your hubby should still be special time. Having different things to 'eat' will become common soon enough. You'll be fine.

Feeling Isolated Starting The Preop Diet...
Isolated how? In your eating? Well, drinking. Having family dinners? I suppose mentally preparing yourself by saying, "What I'm consuming isn't important, being with my family is". It won't be forever. You can get through this! If you want to say more about why you're feeling that way, we'd love to try to help.

Traditional Bypass Vs. Sleeve
I have decided on the RNY but after learning more about the sleeve, I was considering it. Only because of being able to have my excedrin (well the other types now). I get lots of headaches. But on other hand I'm counting on having many less after weight loss. So may not be a problem after. Guess I've become dependant on it....scared to NOT be able to have the ability, if needed.... Everything else points me to RNY so will go with it but that's the one thing that gives me pause. Sorry, think I'm just rambling here...

Who Have You Told?
A lot of different opinions. All good reasons. I can understand them all. Seems to have much to do with your personalities? Maybe. I am sorry to hear of negative responses being a reason. That's just wrong. No one has that right over your decisions. If it's what you want, to keep quiet, shout it out or anything in-between, it's for you to say.

Scared
That's great! Just like said. Keep it going and you'll be greater!!!!!! (Great already)

Who Have You Told?
Haven't had mine yet. Going fo bypass. Have told family and friends that are important in my life. Co-workers since I will be out a little while after it. Whenit gets noticed and I am asked, I will tell others. Noy hanging a banner, but am very open about it. Mostly positive feedback. One drastic negative one (but from who it came from, not a surprise).
