Concerned
I am also a single mom of 11 and 9. They did lots of lunch meat sandwiches and soup for lunch, cereal and oatmeal for breakfast. For dinners we did frozen casseroles, quesadillas, crockpot chilli and other easy meals. I had them help load and unload the dishwasher which helped. We also did solo cups and paper plates when possible. They will be more willing to help than you'd think! Good luck!

Gluten Free
Any gluten free families out there? Our family has been talking about going gluten free and figured now is a great time because I'm already avoiding bread, Pasta, etc and school has started (we are doing it for my son's attention and my daughter's gi symptoms). Just wondering if anyone out there has tips? Any good low carb gluten free recipes that we can eat together? Thanks

Splenda Nectresse Sweetener
Has anyone else tried this yet? I think it's really good but my taste sense is messed up. Still haven't gotten the samples...

Feeling Frustrated
I'm so sorry. Are your kids ok? Were they scared? There is no excuse for what they did and you were so right to call the police and press charges. Please don't ever feel bad for doing so because she is nice. It was wrong!!! You are also protecting other kids from being left alone in the future!

Bummed!
Wow that's amazing! I guess it's normal to start to slow down after 7 months and over 100 lbs. It's frustrating but try to be positive. You've come such a long way. How many times did you lose 5 lbs in 3 weeks before surgery? Maybe a couple times, but if you were like me they just gained right back. At least you know you are still headed in the right direction. By the looks of your profile pic, you are looking great! Congrats on the major weight loss and hang in there. Sending vibes for a plateau buster week next week!

Smoothie
We LOVE making our own smoothies. Here's a bunch of ingredients you can mix and match for your own smoothies. When I feel like we are coming down with a cold a superfood antioxidant filled smoothie is our first remedy! Making your own is the healthiest way to go! Nonfat plain greek yogurt Unsweetened Almond milk silken tofu blueberries, peaches, or strawberries (we use frozen) spinach almond butter Protein powder - vanilla, strawberry, or fuzzy navel would be good. stevia, nectresse, or splenda If you really want to get them somewhere else, try checking their website or store for nutritional information. I suspect they are loaded with sugar.

How Much Am I Expected To Lose
It took me about 6-7 weeks to lose 50 lbs but have been very strict with myself including portions and exercise. I have a feeling that it's really going to slow down. I started at 286 and 5'5" and I think alot of the initial weight I lost was water b/c my legs and feet were always swollen. You can expect to lose 2-5 lbs per week.

When Can We Take Whole Pills?
I took my blood thinners and pain meds whole bc they were gross. My B complex is a powder inside a gelcap so I figure it's ok to take them whole too. But I wouldn't recommend a multi or a big pill whole...it could get stuck and if not, it probably wouldn't absorb. Have you tried taking the crushed pills with a spoonful of sf pudding or applesauce?

I Quit.......

Am I Crazy To Think ...
I am a single mom and did stayed with my mom for the first 3 days. Then went home and did it alone with my two kids. You could do it alone but it would be great if your children aren't very young and can make themselves cereal/sandwich for lunch or dinner if you are too tired. During the first week I only needed a nap about 3 times but I REALLY needed them. Are they old enough to let you nap, help with laundry, etc or will they need chased around?

Sugar Abd Carbohydrate Daily Intake
I know everyone is different but if i go over about 8 grams of sugar per serving I will be sick. This keeps my carbs less than 20-30 per day. But then again, at your stage I wouldn't go over 3-5 per serving. It will keep you from getting sick and help the weight loss. When you are in the first few months you don't want to dump because it's an easy way to get dehydrated - and hydration is already a challenge!

Non Scale Victory
- I Lost 50 Lbs!
I am 6 weeks post op and have lost 50 pounds!!! It's weird because I know it's an accomplishment but doesn't feel any different. It doesn't feel like 50 gone.- Very Rumbly Tummy
Everything you are experiencing is normal! My tummy was very loud for about 2 weeks and still is sometimes. It doesn't mean anything bad. I had diarrhea for about the first week and that's normal. You are drinking mostly liquids and when you get more solid food it will firm up.- Scallops! Good For Soft Stage
yay can't wait to make some! how many sea scallops were you able to tolerate?- Talk Me Out Of It!
if you have a smartphone, there is the livestrong app which i used to quit smoking. it has a button to push when you have a craving and it gives you a motivational quote, fact, or picture. you can also track your cravings, costs, days smoke free, etc. it gives you nice little award badges for making milestones. another which i use more is called 'my last cigarette' it tracks your health improvement, how many cigs you haven't smoked, days smoke free, and my favorite...how much money you have saved, and more! also has a daily pic for when you are having cravings. it's hard but so worth it. you can do it!!- Momentary Lapse Of Reason (Paying For My Sins)
sigh - i've been craving a gyro for weeks now so i can kinda feel your pain. i know that one bite won't be enough so i won't get one. i did over do it with tomatoes the other day and felt full and acidic for the rest of the day. consider it lesson learned - you won't do that again!- Akward!
haha same here. I asked for a kid's sized burger patty with swiss -no bun and a box at red robin. the waiter looked at me like i was crazy!- Have You Done The Chew And Spit?
I did that at about week 2 with baby carrots. I was making them for my kids and missed crunchy food. Lol I spit it out and rinsed too! I think it's just a part of coping and adjusting to the new lifestyle. Just be careful that these foods aren't triggers which will lead to cheating!- Taco Soup
I made this too...did black beans x2 and a can of navy beans, and a can of diced no salt added tomatoes. The kids and I loved it! This recipe is definitely a keeper. Thanks for sharing! This will be a great low cal dinner for fall.- Soups?
yes that's fine! miso is great for a change too!- Meals Away From Home...
idk how much time you have for classes, or if you can keep an insulated bag in your car or not... lunch meat and cheese rollups are good and easy. tuna, chicken, egg salad. hardboiled egg leftovers -if you have a food court w/microwave protein bars work great if you just need to throw something in your bag - and you might be able to just eat 1/2 a bar! If you have a food court or food truck, the insides of a breakfast burrito or regular burrito work in a pinch (minus rice). string cheese, cottage cheese, greek yogurt you will have lots of options if you get creative! - I Lost 50 Lbs!
