  1. It is funny how we were all told something different! I was told not to drink 30 mins before and wait an hour after to drink.
  2. Knowledge & Education is key in making such a huge life time commitment like this one! Go with your guy do the research and ask as many questions necessary until you feel comfortable!! You'll do great John
  3. Thanks OnYx! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one! Like I stated earlier..I've just started noticing it the past couple days. I don't regret or resent the surgery at all- actually I'm thankful for it. I dont even know if I can describe what I'm feeling...it's weird but I know whatever it is it certainly isn't normal for me.
  4. I'm feeling very emotional lately. I've heard that people who have gone through the gastric bypass surgery can be an emotional mess. I'm 7 weeks post-op and haven't had any issues emotionally until recent. I'm just wondering if anyone else had experienced mood changes?
  5. Congrats! That's awesome! Your lucky the dr sent you home with pain meds- I got nothing when I was sent home!!! You'll be feeling better and pain free in no time!
  6. Yes GAS Will be a problem- WALKING is the key to getting rid of it and of course get yourself some chewable gas-x! Lol
  7. Atcgoddess- I had the gastric bypass on March 30th..I was walking 3-4 miles the week after surgery -however after I got done i was completely exhausted & come home and sleep for a couple of hours! it was way to much to be doing so quickly. I almost ended up in the hospital because of dehydration and just over exerting myself. The dr told me to do about 1/2 mile to start out. I was burning way more calories than what I was taking in. I have lost 30lbs since surgery. I just recently started walking about 2 miles now that my food intake has increased some and I feel great! You will have restrictions such as lifting after surgery. There is a possibility of tearing the incisions internally which is why you shouldn't be lifting anything over 15 lbs. hope this helps!
  8. I'm 5'5, 5 weeks post op (surgery was March 30th) - starting weight 268 (my heaviest ever :/) now I'm 30lbs lighter =238!!
  9. You can go and use the treadmill almost immediately after (maybe a week or so) but you can't lift weight or anything hard core for at least 6-8 weeks following your surgery. Hope that helps! Remember you won't be eating hardly anything so you won't be taking in many calories in the beginning- so go light on the exercise in the beginning. The more food you intake the more exercise you can do!
  10. The left side is where almost all the MAJOR work was done inside your abdomin. I to had severe pain and bruising after my surgery. Now, 5 weeks later I feel nothing! It will go away just give it time! Good luck!!
  11. Thanks Panda! I am just finding myself getting frustrated! But I know somewhere down the line there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm trying my best to be patient!
  12. You just had the surgery on 4/2 and you've lost that much weight? Holy crap- that's awesome! I had mine 3/30 and down 25!
  13. I haven't heard of any but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen- are you ok!

  19. Good luck Ade!! Your absolutely right things can only get better from here on out
  20. Thanks Panda! Very encouraging!!
  21. I'm hoping to change that - but at least I'll be (hopefully) still losing weight
  22. Just to add to my previous comment...if people say negative things to you/about you- you don't need them in your life! Look at it as a positive step your taking. It takes a lot of courage- do not be ashamed of it
  23. I also sent an email out to friends and family to let them know. In my opinion, you SHOULDN'T be ashamed of your decision. This was/is a MAJOR life changing event in your life, it was not an easy decision to make. Be proud of the fact you are taking charge of your life and giving yourself the opportunity for a better quality of life! Stand tall, keep your head high, you will be amazed once you start telling people just how many others have had the surgery! You will need all the support you can get- trust me I'm speaking from experience! Good luck and please remember be proud of your decision!!
  24. Really Maria- 3-4 months until your energy level was fully restored? Dear god I'm in for a long ride! It's been only 5 weeks post op and I'm already frustrated that I have no energy!
