2 Years
Thanks for gracing us with your presence and posting! It's good to hear from someone 2 years out. I have a question for you...do you think you're able to maintain so easily because of portion control (please define average size meal) or is it more the amount of exercise you're doing...perhaps a combination of both. What was your diet like before surgery? Portion size? Were you a grazer? In other words...what kind of lifestyle changes (other than the hiking) have you made to be successful?

Congratulations!! You're doing so great! Have you noticed your restriction really kicking in over the last few weeks? You're just one day behind me and for the past few weeks my restriction has really kicked in and I've been completely amazed at how little I can eat!

Hello! Hello! I'm new!
Congratulations on getting started down this road to a new life! I don't know anything about thyroid issues, but it seems others have given you some good information. I hope this works well for you and I hope you survive your vacation on your pre-op diet without too much hardship. Best wishes to you!

6 Weeks Post Op
I wish I could exercise like that. Maybe one day. My husband told me last night he was taking me to play tennis when he gets home. I haven't played in years but that is something we used to LOVE to do...when the kids were little, we'd bring their little tricycles and other toys and let them play on the court next to us while we played. I probably haven't played in about 6 yrs or so...and it would have just been impossible for the last couple of years. So I'm really excited about that. I told him he has to take me shopping to try to find a sports bra so I don't hurt myself...like whiplash or something. LOL

Hello, my name is possumtrot
Congratulations on getting your date! I, too, was self pay and the process went very quickly. I'm now 2 months out and loving my sleeve and feeling so much better already physically from having lost a portion of the weight I have to lose. I am also a smoker. I did the Chantix before and it really works but to be quite honest I didn't WANT to quit so I stopped taking the Chantix. I started taking it again a few weeks before surgery as they wanted me to quit at least two weeks. I failed at that. I did cut back a good bit and stayed that way for a week or so after surgery but now I'm back to smoking as usual. My doc isn't real happy about that. He is encouraging me to try again and gave me a list of all the bad things that could happen to me...strictures, etc. but yeah..that didn't give me any motivation to quit. I'm hoping that once I've lost the weight and can become more active that I'll have a desire to quit then. Best of luck to you...I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised with your sleeve. I know I am!

Hi Everyone...looking for some info....
I've never heard of that doctor but I was self pay here in Louisiana and it was $13,600 and that includes a year of follow up complication care and a year of regular follow-up with the surgeon. For what it's worth..I think you're making the correct decision to go with the sleeve over the band! Good luck to you.

Just got sleeved yesterday!!
Congratulations and welcome to the "other side". Sounds like you had a good experience....I hope you continue to have smooth sailing from here on out!

very disappointed in this site
I saw your thread but didn't have time to respond to it at the time. I'm very sorry for what you went through. It sounds like a terrifying experience. Your mom must have been scared out of her mind as well! Good luck to you and please let us know what you decide to do...whether you will re-schedule your surgery or not.

Frustrated...
Do a search on the forums for stalls and you'll get more posts than you'll probably want to read! It's quite normal and it won't be the only one you hit either! It's just all part of it.
