I only had that probem for a day; they gave me ice Water and ice chips in the hospital and that helps with the inflamation initially. I can take in more than a sip now, more like a swig, without any problems. I set my timer for 5 minutes and take a drink of something; I alternate being sure to get enough Protein in. I am on full liquids right now. I wouldn't say anything bad is going to happen, but you'll know if you drink too much at one time, you feel REALLY full when you do, and it hurts a bit; I wouldn't suggest more than 2 ounces at a time. Is this what your doc said?

ScottsGirl got a reaction from kltklass in Sleeved august 8th and still hurting to drink?
Hi, I can totes relate! I had mine on the 7th and have had similar issues. I find that if I get up and go for a casual walk outside for only a few minutes, I feel better and am able to burp the excess air out that I managed to swallow when I drink; I feel somewhat relieved after. I have felt hungry, but to alliviate this, I take a large sip of the choc Premier Protein shake, and it will go away for a little while. I have also tried a few teaspoons of unsweetened applesauce or regular Jello to help me out. When I see my family eating, I do sometimes want a bite, but then I remember that I did this for a reason, and that this liquid thing is only a temporary event; eventually we will be able to eat reguar foods again but in much smaller portions. All the foods we like will be there when we're able to eat them again, although some of them will not taste as good or go down the way they used to. I hope this helps and that you are abe to hang in there, don't get discouraged, this will all pass!

Most of us felt this way at some point in this journey. Calm down, take a step back and allow yourself to feel what you're feeling. Then remind yourself why you even considered this in the first place.
Over time you'll start to feel a bit better about this. It's perfectly normal and you're not alone.

I'm so nervous! I'm so nervous that I'm not even sure what I'm nervous about anymore! I dont know if its because it so permanent, something going wrong at PAT's that prevents me from getting the surgery after I already told everyone?? Missing food? Feeling just as crappy about myself as I do now with more headaches and heartaches?
help me!!!! talk me off of the ledge guys..

In the limited time I have been hanging around this forum, I have noticed something very disturbing. Yes, there is a lot of support and well wishes, light hearted jokes, and wonderful advice.
But, there is something more. Something dark, oppressive, in a word....judgemental. Perhaps more judgemental than I have ever experienced. Surprising, coming from a group of people who have historically been harshly judged, ridiculed, discriminated against, our spirits crushed because of our weight. Now it seems, some victims have become perpetrators of harsh judgement. Do they know? Do they realize it? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe they don't care. Maybe they believe in their perceived self appointed cause. Maybe its because they think they are an "expert".
What makes an expert? Nobody can agree. Are you an expert because you were or are fat? Because you had wls? Is it because your surgery was 10 yrs ago or are you an expert after 10 hours? Do you really know more at 5 years vs 3 years? Do you know more than a medical professional trained in wls or obesity? Does that not count if they were never fat or had wls?
Some of us are strong and do not care about your harsh opinions. Maybe some of us even think you are stupid for saying something so harsh or judgmental. But there are plenty who are soft on the inside, who make be more affected by being judged like that. Even though this is just a forum, people can be very hurt or confused by a nasty post. And the information some self appointed experts advise so strongly may be in error or cause injury.
If anyone should know how it feels to be judged it should be all of us here. So why are some doing it to others? There are better ways to get your "opinion" across than coming across as a self appointed expert.

Better that it ends up in the trash/garbage disposal than on my thighs!
As I see it, my brain is still adjusting to the amount of food it thinks I can eat (eyes are still bigger than the stomach) - I'm wasting food/money, but I'm okay with that versus the alternative.

Never in my life have I had food spoil since getting sleeved (6/19/13). Since I'm just eating a 1/2 cup at each meal there are plenty of left overs, food savers have plum full both the freezers , I use to be the one that ate the left overs but now I've learn to buy less and my food bill has gone down. So far I lost 65lbs and feeling pretty good about myself.

I just had my first followup with my doctor and he was very surprized. He was very pleased with my weight loss. I have lost 18 pounds since the 24th of July but 31 pounds since I started my prep. He told me that I would most definitely meed my weight loss goal with no problem at all.
I am still on liquids till next Wednesday and then I can try some pureed foods. I am really looking forward to some cottage cheese and some sweet potatoe. I really miss that. I have been looking on the web to find some yummy recipies and I am looking forward to getting off liquids.
I am so glad that I made this decision. My wife is also.

you are going thru the NORMAL stages. Just remember what falls out,, will come back... just be patient, and remember that you notice the hair loss where others will not. Don't fret about it. I was reading the other day somewhere where you can now buy hair Fiber to put in your hair, it is really fibers that stick to your hair and make it look fuller, I have not researched it.
Scottsgirl, I have drank premier Protein from day one, Yes I still lost hair, but it has all grown back and if I could I would give anyone half of mine I have very thick hair. I do think it helps because of the nutrients and Protein. I recommend it over any other out there, just because I also like the taste of it.
Best of luck to all of you!
