I sat through about an hour of my Mother talking about some dang book called Grain Brain (or something like that). AGAIN! Its pretty much all she talks about now. It's a gluten free program which she is using to help her mind/memory. But she claims it cures all the worlds ills! I may try it. Also, for the Paleo peeps, my old boyfriends sister wrote Paleo for Dummies.

Also in re your comment about gluten free, hidden gluten in soy etc. I really don't think the miniscule quantity of gluten in some of those things will hurt you--unless you have celiac disease. But for most of us, simply reducing gluten is a huge move forward anyway. So don't let perfect get in the way of progress, you know?

I started Paleo about 3 months PO. I also have KP. I'm down 110lbs and past goal. I don't know if it's my diet or the weight loss but my KP isn't red anymore. I have it basically everywhere the sun touches my skin so it's all over. The bumps are still there but like I said, they aren't red. Paleo takes some effort and planning ahead but I feel awesome! It's also an anti inflammatory diet so that helps too.

Seela got a reaction from supermom223 in Disappointing show, everyone still fat!
This thread is getting out of hand. I was thinking about this conference as a sort of before and after pic. I plainly said that MY EXPECTATIONS were at fault. I didn't have as much to lose as some but I had 110 lbs to lose so I'm no light weight myself. All I was saying is I went for inspiration and I didn't find much of it. I don't know anything at all about any of their personal journeys nor do they know of mine. I wasn't judging any of their personal journeys. The fact is most of them were still fat and i wasnt "expecting " that. I'm sorry that that word bothers some of you so much, but i never considered it a bad word, because for me it just was a way of life. I feel like a lot of people on this forum are quick to start a fight but, sorry, I'm not gonna play. I've been on this forum for 6 months and mostly I given and received a lot of great support. Support is all I come here for so excuse me if I don't participate in being goaded into something more.

I, for one, am offended at the fact that you seem to be dissing those of us that are simply trying to stick to the plan we signed up for. Getting in all of our Water, Protein, exercise, etc is NOT a bad thing. Every single one of us got the sleeve in order to change our lives. I guess some of us just take it more seriously than others. Don't look down on the ones that are doing well and following through just because you can't or haven't been able to. This surgery is supposed to be a life changing event, not a... well I can still do everything I did before just in smaller doses event. I hope you figure that out before you ruin any success you've had so far.

I've lost 77 lbs and my bathing suit problem is the BOOBS! I'll find a suit that fits perfectly but the boobs are just sad. I found a good suit with great boob control, a tankini, top has a full on underwire bra, just wish it was a tad bit longer. after trying on about 50 different suits from every store in town, I found this one for $15 at TJ Max!

Something else to consider. .. at 2, 3 and 4 months out I was so grossed out by my body, all my skin was so loose and hanging. Now, at 6 months out, not so much. I have almost no "hanging" , just a very little low on my belly but I really think with hard work and another 10-20 lbs lost it will be gone. Granted, I have very elastic skin, but the point is you just never know, and don't freak out in the beginning if it's bad because it could get better in time. Good luck!

i have been telling people for years... its not what you eat every single meal or even every single day... its the overall composition of your diet and lifestyle. if 80% of your diet is whole foods, with an emphasis on quality Protein, whole veggies, fruit and grains, you are doing great. even 100 pounds overweight, my cholesterol was 2 points away from perfect. i must have been doing at least something right!
that being said, there are plenty of people here who feel that junk food, processed carbs and sugar are trigger foods for them and they need to avoid them totally. i believe that crappy eating begets crappy eating. engineered food products are created with the specific purpose of making you want more of them, not to nourish you. if you are willing to go through this surgery to get healthy, feeling your body nourishing foods is a must. avoiding trigger foods is a must. not to be perfect, but to be successful.

I challenge your basic premise. I have been hanging around awhile and perfection is not a trait I see often among the long term maintainers. Consistently living a healthy lifestyle is the key.
