  1. Are you sure you're not already checked out?
  2. I am post op, 18 days and I want to start taking prilosec. Prilosec comes in a really small pill form and I am wondering if I should wait to take it or if it should be okay now. Your experience?
  3. I've been scared to take any pill since I am 18 days post op. Is it okay, I know it's a small pill? I LOVE prilosec, absolutely love it. Before surgery I would take it and for that 2 weeks I would feel a complete night and day difference.
  4. I'm gonna have to do something. I'm experiencing heartburn before I eat anything in the morning or drink anything. It's horrible.
  5. Wouldn't it be horrible if your doctor fired that first round of staples into your stomach and a small piece of pizza fell out? You're on this liquid diet so your surgery goes on without any self imposed complications. That's what I had to keep telling myself. And use this time to get in as much liquid as possible because in 2 days you're going to be struggling. Set yourself up to win at this now. The liquid diet is going to be your friend for a few weeks. I am on day 18 and I am OVER IT but I also have made myself understand how necessary it is to this whole process. Respect that process. Liquids! You got this.
  6. Bottoms up. You've got a long liquid road ahead of you.
  7. I have a friend who used to take Tums daily, multiple times a day. He ended up in the hospital and his kidneys were shutting down because the chalky buildup. He almost died. Ever since then I have been weary of taking too many Tums.
  8. I am 18 days post op and my heartburn is horrible and all day long. I take 2 pepcid daily, one in the morning and one at night but it's not enough. What do you take that works that I can get over the counter?
  9. I love this. Totally spot on.
  10. This thread is making me hungry. I start soft foods next Tuesday and I cannot wait for some tuna.
  11. I'm up for some Truth or Dare. lol
  12. I am eating potato soup right now actually.
  13. My doctor didn't put a catheter in me. I was worried they would but they just didn't. Actually, while you're in the hospital and on meds the pain isn't that bad. It's when they take you off the morphine and send you home that hell week (and yes, it is called hell week) starts. But you'll get through it. You just have to learn to adapt to the new normal in your life.
  14. Educated people who overuse the word 'actually' in presentations really bother me. Informative video though. Interesting to know what's inside of me.
  15. Hello, my name is Alan and I live in Sandy Springs and I was sleeved 9/10. I'm sorry you're not getting enough support at home. If you need someone to chat with, I am here.
  16. That sounds amazing. I am still on liquids week 3 so any mention of bacon is like food porn to me at this point. lol
  17. I was being silly. But some folks in other threads I've read seem to be anti carb. I get where that works for them but everyone is different and I wanted to avoid any conflicting interests because bread seems to be a hot topic.
  18. I've tried their paleo bread and it was $10 for a package of gritty nastiness.
  19. There are a lot of judgmental, miserable people on this board. I say miserable not because I know them personally but because sometimes their posts seem to reek of unhelpful, almost shameful contempt for people who don't follow the same path they choose. It's sad.
  20. From what I understand liquid pretty much just flows right through our sleeve. Some people have no issue whatsoever getting 64+ ounces down. I am over 2 weeks out and can drink no problem now.
  21. I just chew normally. lol
  22. I habitually eat too fast. It doesn't hurt going down but I do tend to overeat a little bit.
  23. I think we do as well. I am on day 18 (2 of those days pre surgery) and I am down 34 pounds now.
  24. Hey Rick, I'm on day 15 now. You're not alone here... we've all been through it or will go through it soon enough. Get ready, once you're off morphine your largest incision site will start to hurt underneath in the muscle wall. For me that lasted about 6-8 days after surgery but for some it lasts longer. You're going to start shrinking soon but it's a struggle at first. Be prepared to hate and then love your decision and then hate it again only to come around and hopefully love it.
