  1. Have you ever watched the Biggest Loser? If you havent you would be happy to know that there are contestants on that show that will eat 1200 calories a day and burn upwards of 10,000 calories a day and by the end of the week for some reason or another will have lost 1, maybe 2 poiunds and in MANY cases will have gained a pound or two as well when they should have lost 10+ pounds mathmatically. You weren't sold a scam. Your body will do what your body does in time.
  2. I've been getting kind of tired of cottage cheese but I enjoy the protein boost it gives me. Yesterday I sprinkled a little bit of honey on mine and it was delicious. I imagine you can do the same with Ricotta.
  3. You can try gas X but whey protein always gave me the worst gas as well.
  4. Now that's my kind of meal! I've only managed to get 4 chicken wings down so far and that takes an hour. lol
  5. I have an adverse reaction to aspartame so I cannot even drink Crystal Light. Aspartame is really a harmful poison.
  6. I totally feel you about the full fat versions of foods. I eat so little now that I don't worry at all about eating full fat mayo or salad dressings. In fact, the lower fat counterparts of these foods are higher in sugar and salt to balance flavor (and don't succeed) so the full fat versions are better for you.
  7. Bacon is delicious but since I've been sleeved I made the choice to stop eating both pork and beef so no more bacon for meeeeee. Now turkey bacon is good but not the same however, if I'm in a bacon pickle I can always just use that.
  8. One of my friends who is sleeved has been eating salad since week 6 and she is fine. I plan on starting some raw veggies within this week (I am 5.5 weeks out). I miss salads as well.
  9. A month seems to be the general consensus. It also depends on what you mean when you say normal... the pain subsided for me around week 2. Eating wise, I am starting to feel the most normal now... around week 5ish.
  10. I say (non)guilty pleasure food because I refuse to feel guilty for consuming this. I eat only a small fraction of what I used to and I limit these to only 1 a week but they are seriously responsible for keeping my mind sane and balanced on this entirely new way of living I have adopted recently. Also, my weight loss has not stopped even after I consume these (at least for right now). So what is your indulgence food (or drink)? About once a week I stop by Starbucks and get a tall (smallest size) Salty Caramel Mocha Frappachino with no whipped cream and made with Organic Soy Milk, sometimes with an extra shot of espresso. My tummy doesn't mind it at all, which is a little weird to me because it minds other more healthy things... lol.
  11. Well lets try to be proactive and avoid that as much as possible because that sounds like it's going to hurt more than the pain you're in right now. You should be able to take liquids in at this point. Maybe a call to your surgeon tomorrow is in order to let them know where you're at in 2 weeks. You should be further along drinking liquids wise. Perhaps you not being able to take in liquids means you're dehydrated already and it's slowing down your recovery (which will and does happen, often).
  12. oh no! The only thing you should be worried about right now is staying hydrated! I had buyers remorse... well hell at 5.5 weeks out I still do a little but trust me it's getting easier every single day. And I didn't have the issues you're having so I imagine you feel a little defeated right now. Hang in there and keep drinking, slowly. You don't want a trip into the ER for bags of Fluid. It's expensive and a pain the butt. You've got this.
  13. Yes the burping will continue for a while. Even at 5.5 weeks I still have some air in there. But it does go down and the frequency at which you will experience the air will decrease.
  14. I don't remember anything. They wheeled me into the operating room (which was a very cold and sterile room, not at all like the nice pretty rooms they operate on in Greys Anatomy). The anesthesiologist told me to put my left arm out and then my right.. ..out like a light.. Woke up in recovery, I remember not being the only one there and telling the nurse in a very groggy, very matter of fact "PAIN, do something about this!" and she jumped right up and started pumping me full of morphine (which was my best friend for those two days) and that was that. If I said "Nauseous!" she pumped more meds into me. Thats ALL I remember from the recovery room. Next thing I knew I woke up in my hospital room.
  15. Smoking is a waste. If you're getting this surgery to be serious about your health and get on the right track than smoking nicotine does you no favors. It never did and never will. It's tough to quit. I quit cold turkey in January of this year from being a pack a day smoker for 12 years.
  16. It could possibly be doing this to you but nobody will really know. I bet if you told your doctor he would blame nicotine. It's a poison that slows down healing.
  17. I banned McDonalds in my house after the surgery. lol It was my comfort food.
  18. It happens. Some people feel hunger and some don't. I am one of those who did feel it. Just stay focused and sip sip sip. Hydration is so important right now.
  19. Yesterday I had some chicken wings from Locos. They were roasted. I could only have 4 and even that took me an hour. lol
  20. You know everyone says no but honestly, just don't swallow it. Surgeons don't want you to chew because you might swallow and it could be problematic.
  21. I am almost 5 weeks out and I am just starting to acclimate more normal foods into my diet. Still soft foods..... cheese, thin deli meats, some chicken. Trying to get more Protein in with the food that I eat rather than rely on shakes. The issue is, I chew and chew and chew and pretty much decimate the food I eat before I swallow but I still feel the food enter my stomach. It doesn't "hurt" when food goes in there but I am well aware that my stomach is taking in food and sometimes it sits weird for a moment and also when I am full that feeling is starting to feel like a normal "full" feeling I would have had before the surgery. I guess my question is, will my new stomach ever be like my old stomach in the ways where I can just eat and not think about it? I know I had surgery 5 weeks ago, I just want to know if that weird "food is now in my stomach" feeling goes away.
  22. I've decided that I am no longer eating mammals (cows, pigs... etc..). So your chicken and seafood recipies are really going to be helpful to me. I had my first bit of chicken today and it not only tasted great but went down great as well. Thank you for this contribution.
