  1. On day 5 of my 10 day liquid diet, not starving, not agitated or overwhelmed just excited its getting closer. My Dr allows us pre surgery to add soy milk, almond milk {unsweetened} to our protien drinks, it makes them so tasty. If you are having a problem ask about that. Try mixing protein flavors I did choc/banana yesterday and strawberry/choc.
  2. My friend makes homemade ones from a Allen cookbook called Against All Grain, they are fantastic. But I don't have the recipe. Maybe google it.
  3. I'm September 17th in Chico, Ca. I have my blood work, chest X-rays and EKG today along with all my pre hospital paperwork. I have been for the past week working on cutting out food, so I start my liquid stage tomorrow. Only food I have to cut out now is protein bars. I have to say it feels real now! Super excited for my new life
  4. Maybe a call to your Dr to reassure yourself everything is fine.
  5. Go check out Quest bars......full of protein , curb your sweet tooth and meet your nutritional requirements. They will send you samples
  6. Diana, I like there smoothie, meal replacement, soup and the carry my now favorite Quest bars. The have flavored water packets, protien jellies in to go size. And once you can eat food. They have some good snacks.
  7. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  8. Takinski, Go to the carbesccentials web site and check out the ,earl replacement smoothies and nutritional drinks. They have several flavor and they are my favorite. But only 15 grams protien. But come I'm bottles you can fill, or packets.
  9. Those of you starting your liquid phase in the nutritional portion of verticle sleeve.com there are some food ideas for the liquid diets for soups and other drinks, broths. I've been cutting back in preparation for mine coming up. Good luck to everyone.
  10. Does anyone know if you can use a juicer and make homemade Popsicles on the pre surgery and post surgical liquid phase. I'm nervous about starting those phases but am already starting to wean myself off of normal food like breads and pastas. It's lean and green and protein meal replacements for me.
  11. Heather, I don't know if you have a family or not but if you don't one suggestion is to clean your cabinets and refrigerator out if all the unhealthy no-no foods. ( donate to a mission or shelter) and stock what you will need for you next several weeks. And, don't be hard on yourself. This journey will be about learning and struggles but the end result will be worth it.
  12. Right there with you. My surgery is Sept 17th. I switched a few weeks ago to half liquid and half lean and green diet a couple weeks ago and dropped 8 lbs. good luck with your surgery.
  13. I haven't had mine yet but have started half liquid and half lean and green diet to help stop craving. I have a nutritionalist at my Dr's and can call for help if I get frustrated. Do you have a local support group you can go to? Stay on track and hang in there.
  14. Wow, one day. I have 10 before my surgery, September 17 th. but I'm weaning out the food now.
  15. Try the fruit preserve maybe if you are craving fruit but don't want to toss?
  16. I had my pre surgery screening and my doctor found a hiatal hernia. It is a solid mass not the soft massed hernia some people get. Now I'm nervous. I'm wondering if I have that taken out should I wait and try exercising again to loose weight because the hernia surgery should relieve pressure on my lungs. Having read through so many of the supportive posts on here I understand that feelings I have are normal. I still have only told 5 people. I'm not afraid of the surgery, I just don't want to deal with people thinking I'm am lazy or won't try. I had a very regimented 2 year exercise and healthy eating that I lost 87 lbs on my own. But medical issues set me back. Feeling confused right now. Anyone have any advice or similar experiences?
  17. I am pre surgery and was wondering if anyone on her has severe allergies to not only animals (cats) but environment to the extent they are on steroid inhalers, occasional steroid shots and daily medications to control it. If so has the surgery helped you with any of the symptoms and how did the steroid meds effect your weight loss?
  18. I have Anthem Blue Cross and did not need a physicians referral for the seminar. It was very educational for me and I am continuing with the pre-op stuff now. You can always call your insurance, which I recommend for any major medical issue. Knowledge is Power!
  19. First, who knew typing the first post could make you feel so vulnerable? I went to a seminar last week and had a consult with the Dr., I'm scheduled for the neutrinos list/physc portion in two weeks. My medical does not require a waiting period, so I guess I am a lucky one. My question is, I thought going into the seminar I had my mind made but learned more about the sleeve. What were some of the factor of those that have had it and those that are choosing to have it? I have the Dr's input but would like everyday people that have experienced living as an over weight person. Also, since I have not met with the nutritionalist what is the SF that everyone is talking about to add to shakes. Thanks for any input.
  20. I am a 43 year old from Northern California. I haven't had surgery yet and am trying to decide if its right for me. I am hoping to find out what the best and worst part of the surgery was, the risk factors and benefits. I have done the seminar and consultation but wantnanreal person point of view not the Dr. Knowledge is power! Like most of the post I have read, I am not alone. My weight mainly is a product of my asthma issues. I'm allergic to about everything that grows in my area but catch 22 as my parents get older i don't want to leave. So I do shots for allergies, steroid shots when they get to bad, inhalers that have steriods and that has cause other issues. I am looking forward to the day I can reach my goal, running a half marathon. Hope everyone is having a great day.
