Gardengirl got a reaction from Gojogo in 4 weeks out and only 16 lbs lost. Totally regretting this surgery.
I stalled at three weeks and was frustrated. My surgeons office reviewed my caloric intake and workout schedule and insisted I reduce my workout and increase my calories to 900. I now do cardio at the gym for 50 minutes 2-3 times a week and walk a mile or two on the other days but I are at least one day a week off completely!!! I increased my calories to 900 and BOOM, the weight started to come off. Apparently I ad put my body into starvation mode.

Gardengirl reacted to adargie in I'm sorry but I'm just not 'wait 30 minutes to drink after eating' guy.
I too have a difficult time with this, I find that if I leave my cup (because I always have one now) in another room, I don't see it and then its kind of out of sight out of mind. That is the only way I have been able to so far. I also find that drinking with eating protein(meat) is uncomfortable almost creates a bubble effect for me. Now I do not watch the clock and prob don't wait a full 30 or sometimes more. But I stay on a 2-3 hr schedule and no Snacks in between. shake/snack/meal/snack/meal/snack that's my daily routine so if I do drink a little early I have to discipline myself from eating sooner. Its just hard when you push all day to get that liquid to stop yourself for that length is tough.

Start off with some popcorn and wash it down with an icy cold soda and it should be fine.

Can you get a canned lentil Soup and purée it it? Add some milk or Greek yogurt. Amazing and high in Protein. Also, my surgeons office also has medically supervised diet foods. Everything has a ton of protein. See if you can find an office near you that sells medically supervised diet foods. My broth has 15 grams of protein. They sell protein Jello, puddings, shakes, etc...all with added protein. Also, if you are allowed, costco and Sam's Club sell ready to drink Protein Drinks called Premier Protein, 30 grams of protein. You can dress them up with sugar free Torani Syrup, instant Decaf coffee, etc...

ok apparently i am a fat ass. i am 6 weeks out and i can eat a 6 inch sub from subway without the bread. i am full at the end but i am not uncomfortable or in pain, and i assumed that was a decent meal until reading this thread. i think that as time goes on you will feel really happy about the surgery, and since you are a guy im sure youll lose lots of weight really quickly and you wont have a crazy stall. i love Pasta and want to have some one day too and i hope that doesnt mean the surgery was a waste of time. theres a girl on here right now that is 1 yr and 8 mths out and said she eats whatever she wants, she weighs 165 and i want to be her when i grow up. btw gamergirl you look great.

I have relatives that visit and which I visit who are from a different part of the country. When they come here to Florida their emphasis is not on the multitude of activities and fun stuff available here but....restaurants. When I visit them the main activity is....yup...restaurants. food..in the center..special places that serve food, exotic food...great views while you have food...designer food...status symbol food...on and on.
Wife and I eat 10 bites and are done. The rest of the time we watch it go down their necks and limit our conversation so as not to get food spat at us. When they have sufficiently stretched their bellies the lethargy sets in and we have to deal with their groggy responses.
As such I once was. Be grateful that you've retired from the trough.

I thought it would gross me out but like others say, you get real, sick of the shakes. Crazy as it sounds, if I purée the food and put it on a coffee mug I find it more palatable if i don't actually see it, like in a bowl. And if you allowed mashed potatoes, most meats and fish taste really good mixed in. Salmon with mashed potatoes and a little chopped spinach has tasted divine this week. I have four weeks of puréed required. Two weeks down...

Gardengirl got a reaction from TxCalico in Encouraging NSV: What's a "normal" portion size?
The other night I ate 2 ounces of salmon and 1/8 cup of black Beans (got full before eating the entire 1/4 cup I served myself). Couldn't even touch the steamed veggies. My 5 year old ate more than double that in salmon, about 3/4 cup of black beans and for sure more than a cup of veggies! And she ate with gusto. I looked around at my whole family and their plates looked positively laden with food. I'm sure they weren't really but compared to my ramekin, it just seemed that way! Yesterday at the kids' pep rally two friends ate the hot dog meal plus a slice of pizza and a bag of popcorn. I ate 1/2 cup of cottage cheese (that I brought along) and a1 oz. bag of Protein chips. I know a couple of months ago I could have easily joined my friends in eating all the junk they did but last night the idea of that just felt ridiculous to me. I feel like my mind and stomach have been recalibrated..

People can be so idiotic sometimes! Mostly it's because they don't know what to say. Why do they have to comment on anyone's weight, fat or thin? If I saw an unattractive person, I wouldn't feel the need to tell them they are ugly. Or that they look better now that they put some make up on. You can't tell I've lost weight yet (30 pounds lost) but I'm bracing myself for the backhanded compliments. I'm thinking my husband and kids observations will be the only ones I will trust.
