Gardengirl reacted to LipstickLady in Husband says No to me having surgery!
When my husband and I first married, I was at the store eyeing a beautiful sapphire ring. It was only about $400 and he told me no. I worked, he worked, we could easily afford it. I came home with a 5k diamond tennis Bracelet instead. He quickly learned that telling me no was counter productive.
You are a grown woman and you have been struggling with your weight for decades. This decision is not his to make. I'd sit him down, tell him this is what you ARE going to do, tell him you'd love his support, but if he can't give it to you! it's not going to change your mind. Period.
Hopefully he'll come around. This is not about him, it's about you.

Gardengirl reacted to LipstickLady in Why does the sleeve fail?
The sleeve doesn't fail, some people who are sleeved fail. Instead of utilizing their tool, they eat around their sleeve, grazing, eating sliders, making poor choices, not following the nutritional plan their doctor gave them, etc.

Nope. The sleeve cannot fail. You can. I can. We all can. We must CHOOSE not to.

Not a table with chairs, but a tiny stationery booth like a normal person. I'm down to a 16 but I was still nervous when I went to sit. Then I just felt normal. Cool

Hi there! Anyone care to pass this on to Alex or Susan or someone??? I joined as "gardengirl" over the summer. Loved VST. Got locked out after the merger. Re registered as "gardengirl2". Got locked out again. Re registered third time as "gardengirl14 or 16". Can't remember. Anyway, I just want my old account back. Every time I write to the tech people it kicks me out. Can I get someone to help? Or just take this as a hint...? And finally: my daughter who has read and loved Hunger Games, Divergent books, and Fault in our Stars found a new mini series she is crazy for that starts with a book called "The Selection". And for all of us, kids and grown ups alike, read "Wonder". Simply amazing. Happy Thanksgiving all".

Gardengirl got a reaction from I Am Resolute! in The Good, the Bad, but Mostly, the UGLY
Happy to report that for me, day 5 post-op I have had very little "ugly". First day I was nauseas and had hard hunger pangs. But once they adjusted my meds and I stopped the pain pump, I felt really good. No gas pains, no Constipation, no drain, thankfully. Walk walk walk. I've been home two full days and have walked a mile each day. I have no trouble drinking 64 plus ounces of Fluid and have managed 50 or so grams of Protein in liquid form daily. I am surprised how good I feel so far. I wish the same for everyone!!

No problems here either. I followed the rules pretty closely and everything has been going great. 7 weeks post op. Down almost 40 pounds. Get all my Water in and average 90 grams of Protein a day. I work out at the gym 3 times a week and try to get a good walk in on the other days. This has been an amazing experience.

Gardengirl reacted to vsginkc in When did you try breads?
My advice: DON'T TRY THEM! (I know that's totally unrealistic). My NUT said I could start introducing breads/carbs into my diet at 5-6 weeks and so, being the food addict I am, I ran out and tried eating a piece of toast. Slid down with no problem at all. Wanted more. Very scary experience. I have to treat sugar and bread like crack cocaine. I can't be trust to have "just a little." I know that this isn't everyone's experience....

Honestly it's gotten EASIER for me. I have been eating out with clients since I was in my soft foods phase and never, not once, has anyone asked me why I am eating what I do, or why am I not eating etc.
Pre-sleeve, I used to worry about what I ordered because I didn't want people to judge the quality or quantity or what I ordered, and didn't want them to look at my food and go "So THAT'S why she's fat!"
Now, it's so much easier. I get a little Protein, I enjoy it, I enjoy the social aspects of it, and it's all good. No one else notices nor cares.
I decided if someone said something, I was just going to say "I'm not that hungry right now". But I haven't had a chance to say that yet because no one has noticed!

I made the zucchini spaghetti tonight with homemade meatballs. Omg soooooo good! I just lightly boiled them in a shallow pot of Water until they were soft. Then added a shake of garlic salt with parsley. My first non puréed meal. A little bite of heaven.

Gardengirl got a reaction from gamergirl in Thinking of increasing caloroes. Good idea? Bad idea?
Thanks!! When the PA called and told me to eat more and exercise less I made her repeat it twice!! Never in my life has anyone ever told me to eat more, move less! Just goes to show that we cannot control everything with this new phase of our lives. It can be frustrating but if the weight comes off, then we know its working. You have a lot less to lose so it will probably come off slower...

Gardengirl got a reaction from MichiganChic in 4 weeks out and only 16 lbs lost. Totally regretting this surgery.
I stalled at three weeks and was frustrated. My surgeons office reviewed my caloric intake and workout schedule and insisted I reduce my workout and increase my calories to 900. I now do cardio at the gym for 50 minutes 2-3 times a week and walk a mile or two on the other days but I are at least one day a week off completely!!! I increased my calories to 900 and BOOM, the weight started to come off. Apparently I ad put my body into starvation mode.
