Rachel Ray is an idiot
I love RR. As for seeing her face everywhere, what about Emeril? He has his shows, his line of foods to sell, Paul Newman's Own?? We could go on and on. I think RR does pretty good with trying to bring some healthy choices into her cooking. Always make suggestions for changing up a recipe. Some who had by-pass could eat what she cooks same as someone with lap-band. Each is unique in what we can tolorate. I think RR ROCKS!

Reduction of unwanted hair...hairy-hirsutism
I've only had my armpit hair done. I had that done in 3 sessions about 4 years ago. No problem, no hair.

Got my Surgery date!!!! what should I do???
I also use the carnation sugar free stuff. It taste good and is not expensive. I can't tell you how many times my band is too tight in the morning so breakfast would be next to impossible. So I have a carnation instant breakfast, low in calories, high in protein. Works perfect for me.

Bandsters Rules
I agree with drinking your Water quota. Also no drinking with your meals. So very important to keep that full feeling after you have eaten your meal. Everyone is right on the nose. Most important, you get from your band what you put into it.

Sweet/Junk food eaters
I AM (before and after lapband) the biggest Junk food Junky I know! I just love food. Not just junk, ALL food. But top it all off with something sweet? Oh yeah baby! BUT, since the band, I rarely have room after eating my meal and following the bandster rules. I just can't get it in. I do have it when I can get it in. But I always make sure I eat my meal first. The last thing I want is to be a failure at this. I didn't go through all this to fail. And I certainly don't want to lose my hair because of poor eating habits! Yes, I get a taste of anything I want, but that's about as much as I can take, a taste! I love my band!

FILL Question
Everyone is different, each doc does it different. None of my fills have been under x-ray. If your fills are fairly small at a time you should be just fine. Don't get too agressive all at once. And remember after you have had a few fills, small fills will be all you can tolorate because they will make such a big difference in restriction.

I know I'm being dumb....
Quitting is not easy, but you can do if you put your mind and heart into it. You will be so much better off with those cigs. I know, I quit 10 years ago cold turkey and I have never looked back. Each time you want to smoke, take a deep breath, and think of someone close to you, someone who is very very special that you would never want to lose and inhale them. Sounds silly, but it works. Best of luck.

Your dh/so and loose skin.
I too have to say ditto. DH just wants me to be healthy and happy.

Can you feel it? And Q about foods...
Everyone is different. I can not feel restriction in my mid-section. The band is placed higher than that. I only feel restriction when I eat and I"m getting full. Otherwise I would not know the band was there. As for foods, again, everyone is different. There are people who have no problem eating anything, just eat smaller amounts. I have issues with chicken (white meat) pork chops, bread. When I do eat or try to eat these things, I literally have to nibble. Even salad is trouble for me. But, I can eat and junk food. Pie, cake, chips. But it's not the healthy choice or the choice for weight loss.

A thought...especially for the moms on the forum
Excellent post, and right on the money!

acid anyone?
I get acid all the time. I had it before surgery and was hoping it would stop after, but it has not, in fact it has increased. I take prilosec to help keep it under control. It helps but it doesn't stop it completely. If I get a fill and it is tight it gets worse. I live on tums, rolaids, pepcid, and prilosec. I have to deal with the acid reflux because I'm not giving up my band!

People are just MISERABLE.
Yankee candles are expensive, but I think worth it. I don't think the scents can be beat. Luckily for me I live only 30-45 minutes from where they make the candles here in Massachusetts, so I can get to the "flag store" and check out the discounted items for a bargin!

Time to get real and face reality
We are all here pulling for ya! You can do it. I haven't lost an ounce for a few months now, like you, totally my fault. I had a fill yesterday so i'm back on the band-wagon again. I want to lose those last 20 - 40 pounds!! Good luck and keep us posted.

When will I get skinny?
It's all going to depend on you. Remember it is a tool, it only does and gives what you put into it. If you don't put anything in to it, you may not get skinny. Remember too that the band is to help you get to a healthy weight, not necessarily skinny. As for seeing a difference for yourself, everyone around will see it before you do. At least that how it is for me. Sure I see a difference because of my clothing size, how i feel, but when I look in the mirror, I still see me. The brain is tricky!

am I too tight or is this right finally?
I just had a fill yesterday. First one since December. I had some taken out because I had gall bladder surgery and I was having issues with eating and drinking after. Doc said I was swollen from surgery and it was putting pressure on the band. 2 Months later I go to get 1/2 the fill put back in that was taken out. Holy Moly! I am tight! I was perfect before surgery, and now I'm so tight! Even liquids take a while to go down. I'm gonna give it some time though and hope it improves. I don't want to go back again for an unfill unless I absolutely have to.
-
Do you get to decide how much a fill should be?
Alice, i too have a 10 cc band. It took 3 fills for me to feel some restriction. That put me at 5.5 - 6. cc's. After that, each tiny little bit is a big difference in your restriction. Take it slow, or you will be back at the doc office getting an unfill.

Ladies who have lost more than 50....
About 2 years ago I complained to my doc about "trickling" when I sneezed, coughed, or laughed. It was enough to make me wet and unconfortable. He finally sent me to a speciallist who said my muscles that support the bladder are weak from being over weight, having large babies, etc. He put a "sling" in my uterus that supports the bladder. I have not had a problem since.

omg is all i can say
innies?? Just kidding! I'm alittle envious. I haven't lost anything in the cup, just the back measurement. From a 46/48 DD to a 38/40 DD. I wish I could lose some in the cup!

Friends - no pressure then
I never even noticed the friend counter before! LOL

SEX after banding
I too know my port is there when having sex. No pain, just know it's there. I have no problem with any positions....so far. When DH is on top I can definitely feel the pressure against my port, but it's not painful.
