I take it back-1complaint- the Popsicles at the Marriott are terrible!! But seriously, that is our only complaint! Lol, and the broth is excellent!

My sister and I had a great experience in Mexico -so worth it!! Research it, plan I, do it!!

My sister, myself and 2 friends have all been sleeved by Dr Vanezuela with zero complications or issues! We all totally feel that it was the best medical experience we've all had. I would highly recommend Mexico Bariatric Center with Dr Vanezuela -a great experience!!

My Doc said 60% is the sleeve, 20% nutrition and 20% is exercise-which makes perfect sense.

My sister Linda and I were both peeved Monday and doing great! Clear Liquids for a week and it's not bothering either one of us. This is day 3 post op and we got up showered, put on make up and wnt out to walk the city. We were both a bit Gurgley but that's passing nd all is well. So far, do good! Hope all June sleeves are doing well!!

I am here right now, my sister is in getting sleeved right now and I'm next-so far everything has been great.They were both in to meet us this morning and several other drs as well, so far no complaints at all! I'll keep you posted!

This week I am starting 2 have my follow up appointments & I went to the 1 of the doctors 2day. Now when I 1st went I couldnt be weighed on their scale because it only went up to 500lbs & as all of u know I was 526lbs. Well 2day, when he called my name I was thinking omg, Im still not going 2 be able 2 give my weight. So the nurse said just put all of ur things dwn & lets see. So I did & I got on that scale WITH MY SHOES ON & it read 497lbs smh. Yall have no idea, how that made me feel. I know EVERY scale dont go up 2 (500lbs) but I can actually get weighed like a normal person...all I could do is cry. Most ppl dont have 2 worry about that kinda stuff but I do & it made my day 2 see my weight come accross that screen EVEN THO its still alot it came accross that screen & thats ALL that matters 2 me.

I can't believe it's been three years. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine how my life would change. It's been a wild, wild ride and I wouldn't have missed it for the world! I still don't really see me as others do, and I'm not sure I ever will. I'm still a work in progress. Good luck to all of you starting on YOUR journey, it's fun. Get a disposable camera and have someone take a picture of you the day before or the day of surgery....then have them take a picture of you every month on your surgery 'date'. After your 'one year' surgiversary, go get the camera developed. Having the pictures laid out side by side....seeing your transformation like that.....it is amazing! You'll be glad you did it, it's fun! Have a great day!

23 for my sister and myself! I've been so wrapped up with the end of the school year it hadn't occurred to me that our flight out was so close!!
I was packing away winter clothes today and my husband was joking that every time we pack away clothes we can never find them again-I told him that was fine-since they won't fit by then!

now that i'm at goal, losing 105 lbs - my weight loss IMO is the main reason for good things in my life continue

My normal, old general "stuff" is the same
I'm still the wonderful perfect person i always was!!!
but now my "insides" are so much happier - which shows on the outside to others
which makes me happy - being/showing my self-confidence
I've heard from some on the board that they think all of a sudden people are being nicer, talking to them all of a sudden???
i think the reason for that could be that since you are happier about yourself, it shows, and people are "attracted" more to a happier person???
that could be a possible explanation sometimes
how happy am i???
since i'm retired - i don't have to deal w/the daily "possible" stress/problems that people have on their job
i don't have any little kids running around sometimes screaming, crying, sick (but they are usually joy!)
moms don't get mad at me please - its rewarding, wonderful raising kids - they are full of love
now that my daughter is 38, and grand-kids are here for the loving
they are "returnable" when they start argueing and yelling with each other
of course "MY" grand-kids are perfect
i just had a wonderful experience of 5 week grand jury duty - very interesting
doing my terrific volunteer work
DH and i are "usually" pretty good
so life in its "normal" day to day stuff is good

Wonderful Bob! I absolutely love this thread. My shouts outs so far:

* tossed all my size 2x - believe me, not even the Goodwill would want them.
* fit into Liz Claiborn 16WP jeans - tossed my 22WP - see above.
* able to go 1 hour vigorously on the treadmill and love doing it.
* rewarded myself w/a Sansun slot radio to keep me going while exercising.
* have more energy than I have had in years.
* vow never to wear black again unless it is lingerie.
* stopped caffeine, diet soda, sugar, flour, but haven't we all!

Until today, 1 person (my girlfriend) knew about me having surgery...today I had my final "weigh-in" and I completed all the other requirements so my time is nearing. I broke the news to my mom, well she kinda pulled it out of me but....she said she was worried about me because I've been going to a lot of medical appointments lately and the fact that I'm not saying anything to her that I'm sick or whatever is making her worry. I felt horrible that someone with stage 4 bone cancer and a weird crazy funky eye problem that's causing blindness is worried about me so I told her.
Me: "aw mommy I'm not sick, Umm i, well uhh. Ok! You can't tell anyone ok?
Mommy: um ok
Me: I'm having weight loss surgery and I had to go to a lot of specialist to make sure I'm safe for surgery...and for my insurance to pay for it.
Mommy: weight loss surgery? You mean Lapband? Please don't say gastric bypass because I don't like the idea of that.
Me: no no I'm getting the gastric sleeve.
Mommy: what does that mean.
Me: long drawn out explanation....
Mommy: are you sure that's what you want? You've been losing weight...
Me: explaining why I need this
Mommy: ok, where are are you getting it done?
Me: Winthrop
Mommy: she smiles (winthrop is like heaven to my mom, this is where all her doctors are, where she gets her treatments etc. this place can do no wrong.) ok! Well if you're sure about it, go for it. Anything you want me to do to help out?
Me: Sobbing, no, just don't eat delicious crap in front of me.

She didn't know what the sleeve was either! But she said it was a great idea!!!! My sister, always been skinny....said its a good idea! ANDDDD asked what kind of stuff to get at the grocery for me. She also said she'll take off from work the day of and after surgery to help out.
I am so happy that they didn't judge me and thought I was lazy and taking the easy way out. I'm still kinda in disbelief that it happened this way!
Today was my birthday an I couldn't have asked for a better day.

It's official!! My sister and I are scheduled for June 24! Nervous anticipation, but excited! I always thought "this is just they way it's going to be" but God had other plans! I had never even considered WLS when by chance a friend of mine shared that she was going o Mexico with her daughter this past March-we have followed her very successful journey and decided to do it! I will turning 50 while we are there-so "a new life, a new beginning!"
