  1. Congratulations on a fine achievement. I'm so happy for you.
  2. Hi dad, Laura is right, get on a strong PPI like Prilosec or take ranitidine (I take both), it helps immensely. I would go far as to say the whole first month sucks and nothing really prepares you for it, no matter how much you read ahead of time. But, it does get better! In another month you will be on here sympathizing with new sleevers, too. Just search the forums for any issues that come up and you'll be sure to find answers. Good luck!
  3. Yep. It gets better. I switched to B12 injections once a month as I have a problem getting all my vits and meds down, too. 22 lbs. in a month is great! Congrats!
  4. Hand me downs and thrift store clothes for me while I'm losing. I find that wearing clothes that fit help me stay on track and improve my self esteem. I get rid of all the big stuff. It's a mental thing for me. If I don't have any big clothes any more I sure as heck better stick to the program.
  5. Shopping for designer clothes, no more Walmart clothes. I never would spend much on fat clothes.
  6. Wonderful news, be proud of yourself!
  7. I'm going to be the bad guy. Don't eat cake. Do something nice for yourself instead. You'll feel better and be proud of yourself. What better gift than the gift of health? Go get a massage or a pedicure, go to a great chick flick, just do something cool and awesome for yourself that doesn't involve food. You can do it, just be strong and don't listen to the enablers. This is a new life, don't fall back into old behaviors. Cake sucks, don't do it. Celebrations do NOT need to be about food. Let us know what happens, I believe in you and that you can do the right thing for yourself. Happy birthday to the new you!
  8. Isn't that a lovely feeling? Congrats!
  9. LOL, BMI 29 today - not officially obese any longer (and hopefully never again). Now I'm just fat and happy
  10. Very thought provoking thread, I agree. I actually had a nightmare the other night that I kept eating crap and slider foods and couldn't stop and failed my sleeve. I tell you, that dream was very vivid. I've lost weight many times, but it always came back. That's the future I fear. I also worry about people with 50 lbs. to lose that get mad when we explain it's not all roses. They don't want to hear it, and that's their prerogative, but it makes me sad.
  11. I have a prescription for them and do the shots myself or my hubby gives them. Easy.
  12. Hi fellow chileheads, I'm in NM too, went with Dr. Acosta in El Paso, same practice as Dr. Lara. My insurance also required a center of excellence, and Del Sol is a great clinic. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful, and the hospital stay very comfortable. The doctors go to Abq monthly, but know that if you need to be seen more quickly you can get appointments much more easily in El Paso. I've done that once or twice.
  13. No, you are a princess, says so right next to your name.....
  14. To the newer folks: This is a public forum, hence, if you post here be prepared to answer for what you have said. As others have said, treat people as you would like to be treated, and if you dish it out, be prepared to take it. If you can't deal with that then public posting is probably not the best pastime for you. Now, back to the food porn.....
  15. Remember to subtract grams of fiber from the carbs to get your net carbs. That makes legumes a better snack than you might think.
  16. I'm a Fireball fan myself
  17. I think everyone is a bit different. I can drink a 5 oz glass of wine over an hour, no problems. I'm at 12 weeks.
  18. I was weak, ate Halloween candy. Luckily, Sleevette came to the rescue and I'm still under 1000 calories for the day. It's almost 9 and I'm eyeing the turkey meatballs in the freezer...I think that's a good sign.
  19. I second this. How many grams of fat do you average per day?
  20. Maybe a Diet Swiss Miss hot cocoa? Only 25 calories. Nice at bedtime.
  21. Congratulations! Well done. On another topic, How is your reflux doing these days? I do hope it's better.
  22. I bought Isopure drinks on Amazon in 8 oz bottles (combo pack of punch and grape). I find 8 oz much easier to choke down, but it is less protein than the big bottles.
  23. That can happen even with great nutrition. It's a response to the stress your body undergoes with the surgery. Some do and some don't. Making sure you get in enough protein is a big part of it, but even with that some people lose it.
  24. I don't know if I look any younger, but I sure feel that way, so that's all that matters
