I started using a heaping teaspoon as well. Still gag though until it turns to liquid. Can't believe how white my teeth are looking. The pain in my teeth is a lot better.
I told my Osteopath about it and he told me that he swallows 2 teaspoons of coconut oil a day. But that he will start to use it this way as well. I did not ask him why he was eating it...sure he has some healthy explanation but just doing this is a big change for me.
Will continue until 2 weeks up and then decide if it is going to be part of my daily routine.......
Never heard of it. Will look it up and take a peak about it..Thanks!

I was what I lovingly term a "18/20 tight" before I went for surgery. Probably SHOULD have been wearing 22's, but I stubbornly refused to buy them, so I would just squeeeeeeeze into those 18/20s. Denial is a powerful thing, LOL.
Now, at almost 9 months post-op, I'm down to a size 10 in jeans--it still boggles my brain! I've saved a couple pairs of shorts and pants from my pre-op self, and it's fantastic to think that in a few months I might be able to shimmy BOTH legs into one leg of my old pants, and my old t-shirts could easily fit myself and my daughter inside!

Good for you. It is an amazing feeling. I went from 20-22 to 14-16. Enjoy because you can only get smaller. I understand the too long part..I find it interesting now that stuff that would be perfect are now too lung. Craziness...Carry on and have fun with it.

Ree, I was a 28 too!! I'm down to a 26 now in jeans, and a 22/24 in workout clothes. I'm 6 weeks out and just bought new jeans at Lane Bryant when my friend remarked, "dayum girl those jeans are HANGIN' off your a**!!"
    It's so good!!

You know what happened to me @@Ree I came home from the hospital after a 5 month stay and I had only socks that fit. My hubby went out and got me a couple size 20 nighties and they were snug....Down from the largest size you can buy in a store. A few weeks later they were too big. I had nothing to wear. Nothing at all. I was so frightened you can't believe it. Gradually he got me more and more clothes and now...Now my closets are bursting again....With clothes I can wear now and clothes yet to wear...Love it...
So I understand. I kept only 2 shirts from my former days. When I am at goal I plan on showing the difference on here as a celebration of the facts....
    Good for you..Your doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is amazing progress just 3 months out from surgery.
And, what a great suggestion to try on jeans as a marker of your progress. What a brilliant way to overcome the moments when your mind plays tricks in you and you can't "feel" the progress anymore.
Thanks for posting. I will remember thus one for when I'm postop. In still preop at that moment.

Once you are at least 3 months out from surgery, go find a pair of jeans you wore prior to surgery and try them on. You'll be shocked! Better yet, when you are having a bad day go put on those pants, because that will remind you how far along you've come in your journey.
So today I was trying to decide which type of jeans to buy online because the ones I just started wearing 3 weeks ago are already too big but even worse they are too long (I'm short, only 5ft tall), actually the "too big" part doesn't bother me at all. So I tried on an old pair of jeans that I wore just days prior to surgery to check the length, and OMG I couldn't believe how big they were on me. It took all I could just to hold them up as I checked the length on the jeans with my sneakers on. I swear there must of been at least a good foot between my body and the front of the jeans as I held them out from my stomach.
Well I'm already down 4 sizes. As embarrassing as this is to admit, I was a size 28 and I'm a girl (a guy in a size 28 is good, but a girl?) I am now fitting in to a size 20. Super excited about that! I wonder when the rest of my family will notice my weight loss? Only my observant aunt noticed when I was only 2 months out from surgery.
No one knows I had weight loss surgery except for my husband.

Okay so my daughter says to me, "mom have you ever heard of oil pulling." I could not even imagine what the heck she was talking about. She said, "the Indians and ancients used it instead of tooth paste to clean and repair teeth, kill germs and bacteria in our teeth. Teeth are bones she said and if you break a bone, it can build and repair itself"....
And she says, "on top of that if your teeth are stained it will whiten them and make you feel like your teeth are freshly cleaned by the dentist." Also she added, "that your breath smalls great as a pleasant side effect of this daily at first then by- weekly habit."
So my hubby has been doing it two times a day and plans on doing it for two weeks and then evaluating whether he can feel or see a difference.
I did it today with Coconut oil. It was difficult to put the hard oil in my mouth but I chewed it up and soon it was a liquid and the bad taste was gone...
After I swished it around my mouth for 20 min. I spit it in the garbage because cold oil can clog drains....lol
My teeth felt amazing. Even the back, you know way back behind the teeth where it is hard to reach your brush: was cleaned off. i felt refreshed and had a smooth and cleaner looking mouth. My breath was fresh as well. With just a hint of coconut...
Thought I would mention it because so many on here talk about the side effect of bad breath with these surgeries....I am going to keep it up for two weeks as well and see how or if anything is really better. My daughter has done it for two weeks now and swears her teeth are not hurting as much and that she does not have bad breath anytime of the day or night.
Dentists don't like this but that is okay..I like using natural things to make me better.
Here is a site if you want to read about it yourself...
    Just sharing!

Ree got a reaction from Band2Sleever in How often do you weigh yourself?
I have always been told not to weigh myself everyday and to limit it to once a week because its easy to become obsessed with the number on the scale and often times (for me) can set the mood for the day. Now I'm starting to hear a lot of talk on here about people weighing themselves everyday or every other day. So I was wondering how often people actually weigh themselves?
Since the surgery I have tried to limit myself to weighing in on Wednesdays and Sundays. If I'm not happy with the number I see on Wednesday (1 pound or less of a loss) I will usually weigh myself on Friday to make sure I stay on track.

I haven't read the responses yet but I would have been one of those people who you thought were still very fat. See I am only 5ft tall and even though I have lost 60 pounds (surgery was exactly 3 months ago), I am still considered 'morbidly obese' according to medical terminology. BUT I lost 60 pounds!! I feel great and I'm thrilled to see the number on the scale go down instead of up (which I had been use to prior to starting this journey). This thread (original post) just reminds me that even though I feel great about losing weight that people who see me and don't know me still see me as someone very fat.

Find a lifestyle that works for you quickly! If logging it all on MFP or tracking works do it. Also, remember you WILL find you are able to consume many more foods as time goes on and it will be tempting to graze every few hours. Set a schedule and stick to it. Don't let one or two become five or size pounds.
