I had to laugh when I read your post because I DID try hypnosis. I thought it worked too but on the way home from that session, I stopped at a local pie shop & had a piece of pie...soooooo I might have well set a match to that $50 I spent on hypnosis! LOL!

I had my surgery on July 25...started at 244 and am now down to 215. Wish I'd done this sooner, to be quite honest. The 25th was a Thursday, my surgery was at 8am, I was released on Friday evening, and I was back to work on Monday. I work in IT, so while my job can be stressful, I mostly sit at my desk or in meetings. I've been very lucky...only issue I've had was a wicked rash from something post-surgery...doc thinks it was the extra adhesive they put on the surgical tape to make it stick longer. I wanted to scratch the skin off my stomach...and I've never had an allergic reaction to anything...so it was definitely weird. But in the grand scheme of complications, no sweat...steroid and antibiotics and it was gone. food has been fine for me, no reactions or stomach problems to date. I've been mostly on yogurts, cheese, cottage cheese, apple sauce...stuff like that. I've started to dabble in other foods for the next phase...cautiously, but with no issues. Nothing tastes different to me, at least yet. I am struggling to get my Protein in...it's a constant battle, but I'm getting better at it. liquids I seem to do pretty well with...I'm usually in the 65-75 oz range. I did my first Couch 2 5k jogs this week...hoping to get back into running and lifting to tone up. My surgeon made my day when I had my follow-up the other day...said he could really see the definition in my cheek bones coming out. Yay...my face is less fat! A work in progress, for sure...but I couldn't be happier with my results to date.
If you're on the fence, don't be! Do this for you, your family, your kids, your spouse/significant other...whatever inspires and motivates you. I did it for all of the above...and I did it for my career as well. I have a great job that I love...and I didn't want my weight to get in the way or slow me down.
For those of you pursuing approval, keep trying. For those of you scheduled, best wishes. For those of you who are post-surgery, keep rockin' it! All the best...

Pixie Dust reacted to tesser85 in Fifty Pounds Down
Today I am nine weeks out from surgery. I am down a total of fifty pounds - 20 on pre-op and 30 since surgery. I can't even believe it! I had hoped to make it to 50 by my birthday, but I hit that goal two weeks early. Happy early birthday to me!!! None of my clothes fit, but this time, it's because they are too BIG, not because they are too small! I can't remember ever shrinking out of my clothes like this. Without a doubt, deciding to get the sleeve was the best decision of my life (other than marrying my DH!).
I am so thankful for all of the support and knowledge I have received from all of you here at VST. I wouldn't be where I am today without you gals & guys.

My husband has been very supportive of my surgery and WL journey. 8 weeks ago when we started this, he began to work out daily. However he has fallen of the "band wagon", lately. I am now more aware of both my and his eating habits(portion control) and I decided that I am going to help him by preparing his plates for him when I can. He has no concept of Portion Control and just eats and eats. He is 5'11" and @ 250. As partners, I feel like we have to do this together. I want to support him as he has supported, loved and accepted me over the last 17 years. I can't loose weight and get healthy and not do my part to take care of my honey too. He and I both decided last night that our goal weight is 200lbs. I told him that works for me(although I plan to go a little lower). So now we are going to move forward together and support each other. Thanks for posting this topic and best of luck to you and your partner.

I wish you both luck and health! My partner decided that she was going to lose, partially for her health and partially because I am not telling anyone about the surgery. So her thought was that she could tell people we are working really hard together. Four months later, I am down nearly 70 pounds. This would be impossible for her to keep up with, but it is also easier for her to slide. She has the option of a soda or a biscuit at dinner. I have this amazing tool that helps keep me in check. But, overall, she has been incredibly supportive and this has been a great journey to have with her.

I was sleeved in March and have lost almost 80lbs. My partner wasn't sleeved but I did most of the shopping and cooking - so needless to say he lost weight by default. But now he's used to smaller portions and just as conscious as what goes in - just like I am. Working out with someone else and trying to get healthy is easier with a buddy for sure! Now it looks like I'm going to be the skinny one in the relationship, and that's a whole other dynamic - but love is love and ultimately we fell in love with each other's personality and looks. I was just as cute before being sleeved as I am now - and I'm sure you are too. So good luck, you guys will be fine!!! Keep us updated! You'll do great!

That salesperson should be written up for that. Truthfully, she should be FIRED but I'm going to be a christian & say she should be talked to & then written up for it. How DARE she??!!! Good for you for walking back in. I tend to shoot (my mouth off) first & then ask questions, but you did good cause you thought it thru & went to the manager. **Standing ovation!**

**Raises hand** Count me in too...mine is more of a gurgling noise from my throat. But the kicker is that when I'm full, I hiccup twice REALLY LOUD! I don't understand that & will be embarrassed if I do it out in public! I asked my doctor about the gurgling noises & he said it's fairly common. He said it would go away in time.

We can't change people, no matter what we think. Give it your absolute "ALL" before making any permanent decisions. I guess kind of like before you were sleeved, right? Do what you have to do to be happy tho in the end. No sense in staying with someone who makes you absolutely miserable AFTER you've tried everything. This way there are no regrets. Good luck to you.

Pixie Dust got a reaction from TES in weight gain
I'm just over 4 weeks out & I've had a 2 lb gain. I attribute it to my body being in starvation mode because most days I only get in about 500-600 calories, so there is NO WAY I could gain 2 lbs with that. But I keep trying to get more in & I have lost a considerable amount of weight in 4 weeks so I'm just going to keep trudging along....Don't feel alone tho.

Divorce is a huge deal and I agree with those that say you should think back to when you fell in love in the first place. Also, time, space and some professional help might be worth it. At least if you try those things and you still end up divorced you'll know that you tried everything and didn't just give up.

Like I said, you may just be his inspiration, but it will be in HIS time, not yours. You sound like you have your mind made up already and that you aren't willing to give him the time he needs. Set a time goal; ie 1 or 2 years etc..

Now let's be fair about this. Speaking from a guy who no longer has anything resembling Man Tits. Not any more. And that is your point, right, you are improving yourself, and do not see why he is not interested in doing the same. Here is what I felt after reading your post. Okay, you have made a decision to change your life - AWESOME and conrats to you. BUT you would not need that change if you (and I and many many more) had not let ourselves go and made many a bad decision. So you have decided that you want more out of life. Here is my question. How long did it take you to make that decision? Presumably a while. What about him? how much time does he get? If you start looking great - or at least a ton better, is that an encouragement for him? I would only say that none of us - peeking into you life with 5 lines of information - have the answer. But I think a spouse has a little duty to help make changes in us as well. I was a stud athlete, professional, world ranked - that is what my wife married. Then 10 years in I got fat, not big, fat. She stuck by me and put up with my beer drinking and over eating. Now I look good again and I am so glad she is here. But you know what, she is 30 pounds over weight - maybe more - but that is okay. I love her for her. She stuck by me when I was a pig. 30 pounds on her at 5 feet tall is a lot - but I will work with her to get her lower - she wants that and I want that - why? because we are still in love. 25 years of her putting up with my retarded self - and we still care. My guess would be that there is more than just the weight issue. It may be an indicator of the relationship - maybe the weight is not the issue, it is that desire you have for more, and he does not have that. Again, it is easy to be Dr. Phil with 10% of the info, but make sure that it is the weight that is a problem, and not the lack of drive and ambition. Here is why, anyone (with great effort) can lose weight - not everyone can have that desire to move up and be determined for success. So I will get off my "Mr. know-it -all" soap box and wish you the best of luck - love is easy - marriage is hard - make sure you are carefully assessing you issues. And best of luck on your weight loss journey.

Well this divorce you really can't "blame" on surgery and losing weight since it sounds like you are done already and you haven't even had the surgery yet!
Yes divorces happen but I truly believe its because of major problems that existed BEFORE the surgery, like in your case.
Healthy loving relationships survive fat and thin.
