  1. Welcome! What part of MN you from? I am also in MN. Congratulations on taking the first step toward the new healthier you!!
  2. Congratulations!!! So happy for you! I am sure you will be just fine, and have a happy and healthy pregnancy. Best of luck to you!!
  3. Take a deep breath, you are doing fine! My doc told me not to worry about counting calories right now and just focus on the protein and water. And congratulations, you have hit your first stall! It sucks, but it will end. It's just your bodies way of making sure everything is ok. Just keep doing what you have been doing and the weight will begin to fall off again in anywhere from a few days to up to several weeks. But it will end!! You are doing great, keep up the good work!
  4. yeah, unless he made a mistake is reading your chart, i'd get a new doctor, and tell him to F&$*% off! You have done awesome!! I'm 4 weeks out and have only lost 24 lbs. I hope at 9 weeks i can say i've lost as much as you have!!
  5. My doctor actually recommended getting an IUD. He said that they have been finding that BC pills aren't as effective after sleeve surgery. I didn't because i had Mirena and had it removed a few years ago and had some complications from it, so i don' think I'll ever get an IUD again, unless I'm 100% done with kids. I still take the pill, and i figure if i do get prego even while taking it, then i guess it was meant to be!
  6. If you are throwing up, it's either because you are eating to much, eating to fast, or you do not tolerate the food you are eating. Slow down, eat less, and avoid foods that make you sick.
  7. sounds like your not getting enough, water and/or protein. Could also be low BP.
  8. You are doing great! The first 2 weeks are just, hell to put it simply. Drink water, get as much sleep as you can, and walk around. It gets better, it really does and by the end of 3 weeks you will be feeling almost back to normal again. Hang in there sweets, you are doing great!!
  9. sounds great! I just made Honey lime Shrimp for dinner. Soo good. Got the recipe from Pintrest.com I love shrimp!!
  10. yes it is common. It is usually due to to much bending over or just generally over doing it. Mine acts up if i bend to much, then it gets really painful and a bit swollen. My doc said this is normal and not to worry, just take it easy and in a day or so it will feel better.
  11. mine was about 2 hours, and nobody stayed with me over night. There wouldn't really be much use for them as all you do is sleep, and get up to walk, then sleep more. The nurses are also in a lot to check on you. Unless you really need the support, i'd let your person stay home and get some good rest. They can come see you the next day and stay as long as you want. Good luck today!
  12. my doc didn't require a liquid pre - op diet either, and I've done just fine. I guess it's really up to you, if you want to drop more weight before surgery. Also remember that you will be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks after surgery as well, and the liquid diets are super hard even when you have no appetite ( like after surgery). If you do decide to do it, you might want to tell your doc though. Good luck!
  13. I also struggle to get in both protein and water my nut told me it was ok to alternate days. One day focus on protein, the next focus on water, and that works for me. I still try to get in as much water or protein as i could but if i couldn't meet my goal it was ok. I started feeling so much better after that, and now I'm able to get in all i need and i don't feel dehydrated at all, and i know that my protein levels are good as well.
  14. yeah my scale is "broken" as well. I've been sitting at 248 for almost 2 weeks. I knew this was going to happen, and that it's normal and everything and it will end, but it's getting hard.

yeah, i recomend avoiding anything hard core or "jarring". I threw up after sex the first time. and we have to be very very gentle or i get sick. lol my tummy doesn't like motion apparently!
  16. just make sure you have a driver, my hospital wouldn't put you to sleep unless you had a driver to take you home. Thankfully i did, and i remember nothing about it. It is super simple and fast. Good luck!
  17. I did sort of the same this as you. I started the process back in 2009. But then i was going for the RNY, but all the side effects and malabsorbtion and scary issues people had was really freaking me out. My surgeons PA told me that if i was 50 or 60 that the RNY would be a better choice because i wouldn't have to deal with the long term complications, but being as i was only in my mid 20's. Of course it was my choice, but he said he looks at it as it's his job to try to talk people out of surgery, since it's such a huge deal that way the people who still go through with it really know and understand what they are doing. I had a surgery date and everything, and backed out. about a year and a half later after gaining some more weight i decided to restart, but again backed down, because i just wasn't ok with the RNY. Finally my insurance approved the Sleeve, and i jumped on that and had my surgery March 6 and i haven't looked back yet! You will do great!!
  18. There really is no "norm" per say as everyone loses the weight differently. It also depends on how heavy you were to start with. someone who was 400lbs will drop weight faster at the beginning that someone who was 250lbs. As long as you are doing what you were told, i think you are just fine!
  19. Oh gosh yes, head hunger is the worst!! As for the taste changes, yeah, i had 1 m&m today ( yeah i know) but i didn't like it at all. Which is great, cuz with Easter right around the corner my son is going to have candy floating around, and at least this year i know i won't be eating it, or wanting to eat it! Hang in there!!!
  20. my doc had me on full liquids as soon as i got home from hospital, and at the 3 week mark i could add soft foods, like eggs, shirmp, fish, moist chicken... So each doc is different in what you should be eating and when.
  21. try eating slower, smaller bites and chewing it really really well. I get pains from eating if i eat to fast, which sometimes seems slow to me but it's not slow enough. For a while i could not eat eggs, it make my stomach so grumbley and uncomfortable, but not sick feeling. So maybe there is a food that you can't tolerate yet. Hope it gets better soon!
  22. It does get better, i promise! The first week is just awful but, just take small sips of water, keep doing it, keep up the walking, but don't over do it! That makes it hurt worse ( trust me i know). You passed the leak test at the docs before you went home, so as long as you do what you are told the chances of developing a leak are quite small. Hang in there, your going to do great!!
  23. I'm so sorry to hear you are having a hard time! it will get better, i promise!
  24. I have trouble getting in all my protein and water in a day, so my nut said that if i needed to i could alternate days. one day focus on protein and getting it all in, and the next getting all my water until I'm able to eat a larger quantity. Make sure you are getting some sort of exercise in, anything is better than nothing. Also remember everyone's bodies are different, and maybe yours is just still a bit freaked out from the surgery, so it's trying to hold on to as much as possible. Don't worry though, it will come off ,and think of it this way, the slower it comes off the less loose skin you will have! There has been one quote that always keeps me going even on my worst days " No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everyone who is still on the couch". Hang in there and keep your chin up, you are doing great!!
  25. my doc said no NSAID for the first 6 months, but then it was fine to take them as needed
