  1. Congratulations! So very happy for you! It is a tough journey, but totally worth it.
  2. Oh my gosh that sounds amazing! What a clever solution as well! So glad i found this!!
  3. my nut gave me a recipe similar to this but it's a package of sugarfree pudding, 1 scoop vanilla and 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, adds 1 tsp vanilla extract ( or orange, almond etc...) and mixes in 3/4 c cool whip with it. makes 6 1/4c servings.
  4. My husband had the sleeve surgery and is a member of the forums, he just doesn't really post unless he has something highly informative to add.
  5. most people have gall stones, i can't forsee it being an issue unless it begins to give you pain. I was going to just have mine out with my surgery ( i was having very painful attacks), but they got to bad and i had my gallbladder removed a few months before my sleeve.
  6. Have you tried the Protein twist things? You get them at Degen Berglund. they are 1oz. cups and come in a bunch of different flavors with 15 grams protein per cup. They are like really thick jello jigglers. The taste is pretty decent as well.
  7. I had my 3 week appointment today, a week early as my doc will be gone next week. I was told to continue with the liquid diet another week, no surprise there, but that i could also add scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes with melted cheese. This was exciting news, so when i got home I made myself one egg with a pinch of cheese. I could only eat half of it. That was at 1 this afternoon, and i felt full until 7:30 this evening. Is this normal, or should i maybe hold off on the eggs for a little longer, even though i was told it was ok?? Just worried as i know we are supposed to eat about every 3-4 hours.
  8. i peeled mine off after about a week. One of them came off at the hospital! That was on one of the smallest incisions, and the doctor wasn't concerned at all.
  9. I was sleeved the 6th and was fine for a while but then I started having that problem for a few days and found that i wasn't getting enough protein and/ or water. Once i upped the intake of both of those the feeling subsided and now is gone.
  10. Thanks for the ideas, i'll try some of them out, see if it helps any.!
  11. I was sleeved March 6th and have been having a horrendous time getting in any kind of protein. I have now tried many different protein powders and all of them make me throw up. I don't really understand why. I've been eating greek yogurt and cottage cheese to get protein in but i'm still not able to get very much in as i can only eat about 3 oz of food at a time ( get maybe 15- 20 grams in a day). I have my doc appointment the 19th, so will talk to them then, but i was wondering if other people have had this issue and what they did, or learned about it. Any help would be welcome!
  12. I was only on clear liquids while in the hospital, after that it's been full liquids. Each doctor does things a little bit differently, just do what the doc says and you'll be good.
  13. I wou'dnt worry about it. Everyone's body reacts differently to things. I had my surgery the 6th and am down 15lbs. I'm pretty happy about that, but i've read other people who are down 25 or more by now. I also agree with JP69. My best advice is to keep doing what you are supposed to, don't get on the scale for at least a week or 2. Focus on being healthy and not on dropping the lbs (hard i know).
  14. Yes, that's the basic idea. although because of the smaller stomach size you need to make good choices to get proper nutrition. Though there may be some foods that you do not tolerate anymore, so cannot eat. So after you are healed and you want to have a few bites of someones birthday cake, provided you can tolerate it, you could do that. Just remember refined sugar will make you gain weight like nobodies business so try to avoid it as much as possible!!
  15. I weighed myself once i got home from the hospital. and i do it nearly daily. Even if it's only oz i've lost, it's still awesome to see that smaller number. helps me get through the liquids only part.
  16. My husband was sleeved back in October, and he was/is a super picky eater himself. It did make parts of the process a bit more difficult but he managed through and, as many of us have noticed, our tastes change after surgery. So try everything again, even if you never used to like it, you might now. Don't really have any advice on the artificial sweeteners though. Maybe just stick with honey? These boards have been so helpful, i hope they continue to be so for you as well in your journey!!
  17. Welcome and good luck to you! You sound like you have know knowledge and support needed to be successful with this surgery. I wish you nothing but the best, and keep us posted!!
  18. ugh, 3 days can be an eternity. Hold out if you can, but i say that if you need to take a few bites to save your sanity, i don't think 3 days will hurt you. especially with pudding and jello. I still have 2 weeks of liquids left and it seems an eternity!
  19. Oh no!! i hope you feel better soon and that there is nothing wrong!!! Let us know when you feel up to it!
  20. I have heard so many stories about the band, troubles with it slipping, and constant adjustments. Of course for some people it works very well, but i wasn't willing to take that chance. I opted for the sleeve because it has the least amount of possible complications, and the highest amount of satisfied customers. Also after talking with my surgeon, we decided that this was the best surgical option for me. Even though i'm only 1 week out and still struggling with the liquids part, i wouldn't have done anything differently. My husband had the sleeve done in October and is very happy with it, wouldn't change a thing.
  21. I've been on BC pills, and they never told me to stop taking them. I was only not supposed to take it the day of surgery if taking with out food gave me an upset stomach.
  22. I did clear liquids in the hospital, now i'm on full liquid for 3 weeks, then i can progress to soft foods, like scrambled eggs and cheese, soft meats ( canned tuna and chicken, stuff like that. This 3 week liquids is hard though, especially cuz i hate my protein shakes. But we have a limited income so i can't afford the really good ones =(
  23. oh gosh i know! If i don't see the food i don't want it, but if i see or smell it, omg it's torture. I told my hubby that in 2 weeks, when i can eat food again, i'm going to be cooking so much, even if i can only eat 2 bites of it, that i probably wont have to cook for the rest of the year! Though one thing that has helped me is to suck one sf fruit snack till it is completely dissolved, then if i'm still craving i'll let myself suck on another. It really helps. Hang in there!
  24. Internet was out yesterday, so couldn't update. Glad to be back though! I have also been very cold, my hands are always icy and i've always got a sweater on and blanket around me, and sometimes that isn't enough. I remember my husband being this way to after his surgery. It does get better! Also same with the Diarrhea. Oh liquid diet, you can't end to soon!!
  25. I have no memory of anything other than them saying "ok heres the medicine to make you relax" and then i woke up in my hospital room. Being nervous is totally normal, you have having major life altering surgery, i'd be more worried if you weren't a little nervous. And yes the paper work is a just i case the impossible happens. Not saying it's impossible, but it is so unlikely! They have to do it for legal reasons though. Take some deep breaths, drink some chamomile tea and try to enjoy yourself. Everything is going to go just fine. My husband also had this surgery done and he also remembers nothing of any part of it. Yo will do great!! Sending happy relaxing thoughts your way! GoodLuck!
