Liquid Diet

My doc does not require us to do a pre op liquid diet, but I was wondering if it would be good to do this anyways?

my doc didn't require a liquid pre - op diet either, and I've done just fine. I guess it's really up to you, if you want to drop more weight before surgery. Also remember that you will be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks after surgery as well, and the liquid diets are super hard even when you have no appetite ( like after surgery). If you do decide to do it, you might want to tell your doc though. Good luck!

I did not have to do a liquid pre-op, either. Just a high protein, no carb diet for two weeks prior to surgery.

I think it helps you prepare mentally. It was hard to do, but I think it made the post liquid diet easier for me. Because I was already use to it I did not even think about it after the surgery.

YEah, that sounds like a good idea, just to get used to it and get my schedule down so that I know what to do when I get home! I am awaiting a package with some protien shake samples. They should be here this week!

Yes you should! It's makes it easier to get to the stomach, by making the liver soft and easier to lift to get to the stomach.. So do the diet

My dr. wants me to do a pre op diet for 2 weeks prior to my surgery, this helps shrink your liver to make the surgery go smoother. For breakfast, a protein shake with 15g or more of protein, a protein shake for lunch and then a salad with a meat protein for dinner.
